This tells us EVERYTHING we need to know…
This tells us everything we need to know about the San Antonio Spurs. Though Stfan Castle is out right now with a left hip flexor strain, gonna miss a couple weeks. The Spurs continue to get W’s in the win column due to the play of De’arren Fox, Harrison Barnes, and some of the other veterans that we have on this roster. And we’re going to discuss here how this can continue even with Castle, Wem, and Harper missing time. And without further ado, we’re just going to get right into it. Castle as we all saw out two to three weeks with a left hip flexor strain. It’s super unfortunate because I mean he still can depending on the time in games that he missed because most improved player he was in the running for the way he is getting to the basket. The way that he is dishing the ball obviously shooting almost 50% from the floor that will get it done. and the 24% from three needs to improve, but we’re not worried about that right now. Unfortunately, it he’s out. It’s a mystery. We don’t really know. Mitch Johnson didn’t see any clear footage of it happening. We didn’t really see any clear footage of it happening. Whatever the case may be, we know that he is a competitor. We know that Stfan Castle is a Warrior and if he could be out there, he absolutely would. So regardless of us not knowing exactly where it happened, maybe he doesn’t even know exactly on what play it happened, but what we do know is he is going to be missing some time. And this status coming out right after Wem. And obviously we know Wemb’s been playing some phenomenal basketball this year at 263 and four, 50% from the floor, 34 and a half% from three. You saw it a little bit for a second there. This guy also out with a calf strain. There’ll be a little bit more of an update on Dylan Harper towards the end of this video. We’re going to talk about a couple good signs that we saw there. But all in all, the Spurs still were able to go out and get a W last game against the Memphis Grizzlies. And we saw a great fourth quarter from the San Antonio Spurs, holding Memphis to 14, though they let him score 40 in the third. Harrison Barnes with the Magic 85 Skyhook game four I believe in Boston. Then he had the three. He also had the fadeaway looking like MJ. Harrison Barnes just closed that game out for us. Dear Fox was feeling himself at the end of the game with a windmill. Josh and I did a breakdown of that game. We discussed it. So if you haven’t checked that out, go check that out there real quick. See us talk about the game because every Spurs game, every Spurs moment we like to talk about on this channel. But overall, I bring this up here and bring up the box score specifically cuz these are the guys that are going to have to do it for us for the next couple weeks. It’s not always going to be pretty, too. It really won’t be. We don’t have the greatest of shooters. We have guys who can shoot. Obviously, Champenni can shoot. Fox when he’s rolling can hit it. Vel if he’s on can hit. Barnes can’t Barnes a very good shooter. He’s been shooting about 50% from three this season. Lindy Waters is going to get some run just because of that. But guys like David Jones Garcia and Carter Bryant, those two guys I wanted to talk about here for a second because Jones Garcia, as we saw throughout preeason and we especially saw throughout the summer league, he’s a guy that can get a bucket when we need it and when he needs to. And we’re going to need that kind of instant offense at times during these games. to look to see Jones Garcia maybe getting 12 to 13 14 minutes in a game over these next week, week and a half or so because we might need that instant offense that he can provide. Kellan Johnson big body is going to have to get back to what he was looking like three years ago, four years ago when he was averaging close to 20 points a game. I think even over even over 20 points a game at one point in his nice career that he’s had thus far. last night 18-7, 15 shots for him, second most on the team. Those things are going to have to continue. This offense will be a drag a little bit. It’s not going to be the prettiest offense that you see, but we do have the opportunity and the ability to shoot from the corners. We have shooters there. And there’s going to be a lot of pick and roll with De’aran Fox. It’s going to be a lot of one-on-one play with Dear Fox creating, getting to the basket because he is truly our best creator at this moment in time. I really wish we did have Dylan Harper right now. Last year, we got to see Dylan Harper play or not Dylan Harper, excuse me, we got to see Stfan Castle, unfortunately injured now, but we got to see him last year when De’Aran Fox was out recovering with the pinky and then obviously WBY with the shoulder stuff that he was dealing with. We got to see Castle with the offense really to himself. Obviously, Chris Paul and others were there, but it was really, hey Castle, go out there and show us what we can do. This would be a great time to see what Dylan Harper can do as a true focal point of the unit. Obviously, he is one of the players and one of the best creators on this roster right now, regardless of his youth. But seeing him actually go out and be like, “Hey, this is your unit for six minutes. Go do what you do. Hey, this is your unit for seven minutes. Go do what you do. Same thing we see Cooper Flags doing at times when Anthony Davis is out and or on the bench. Same thing that honestly we saw a little bit last night from Cedric Coward. Not that he is that creator, but Cedric Coward was getting a lot of shots up in. He was he’s been playing very well this season. VJ Edgecom times when Tyrese Maxi hasn’t been in the game or Joel Embiid and they’ve said, “Hey Tyrese, go do your not sorry, hey VJ Edgecom, go do your thing. Go do your thing. Don’t go ball out. I would have loved to have seen that opportunity from Dylan Harper. Hopefully, he can come back and be healthy here very soon. I mean, we do have a little update on Dylan Harper. Speaking of getting shots up on the floor tonight, the number two pick has missed the last two weeks with a castra. Mitch said Harper’s doing really well. Won’t return in the next game or two, but hopefully in the near future. Typically with a lot of these reports, you got to read between the fine lines. Obviously said not next game or two, but looking like within the next maybe week, week and a half, he could be the first of the three to return. Should be the first of the three to return. We saw this out of the boot and we know same thing. They’re taking a uh extreme precautions with WBY. We’ve seen such an uptick in ACL’s not ACL’s Achilles because of the calf strains and that really comes down to the way the game is played today, the way that these athletes are moving. You have to think you never really saw that 80s, 90s, 2000s. Everything was so congested. But with the three-point shot and especially with the people like Curry, like Lillard, a lot of these guys now that really can extend that range to 28, 30 plus feet. They were real threats from 32, 34 feet out. That’s just so much more ground to cover. People are becoming more athletic. They’re training more so they can jump higher, run faster, slide quicker, and all of that strain on a human body makes it really difficult. And I am no doctor. This is just my thoughts. It makes it really difficult to for players to have to use that wear and tear on the calves, on the Achilles, and then when that thing goes, that thing goes. But the way modern medicine is, we’re going to find ways around it. And hopefully it’s not going to be as such a feel like a death sentence the way that it feels right now. You’re like, ah, Achilles. Yep. Not seeing him for another year. And we’ll see how he even responds the next year. But overall, I think this team this team has a very favorable schedule for what we’re going to need from them. So, right now, we play the Hawks. That is a winnable game. The Hawks have been playing better. They started the year off not great, but they have been playing better. That is a winnable game. It will be a tough game, but it will it is a winnable game. Phoenix Suns, obviously, they’ve got Devin Booker. He can play. We did lose to the Suns earlier in the season, but that is still a winnable game. The Suns are not world beaters by any chance. And then for even for the cup stage, we do have the Trailblazers. They are a nice young team that has some nice young pieces on it. But the next three games are games that we have chances to win. And obviously you can win any game in the NBA that’s not like a oh you’re it’s impossible to win like it’s a 16 over a1 and it’s like wow that team really won. But overall we have the ability to compete in these next few games and then that Nuggets game will be a very difficult one. You would have loved to seem the Jokic matchup would have been a great barometer for a healthy Spurs team to go against a healthy Nuggets team. one of the three or four top contenders in the Western Conference, the Nuggets are in my opinion. So, getting that test of, oh, where do the Spurs truly stand would be great, but we’re not going to get those kind of tests until roughly Christmas when everybody is back and we get to see the Thunder around that time. But Dylan Harper, Stfan Castle, and Victor Wimyama are all missing time here as we all know. But the San Antonio Spurs have the ability to go and get a few more W’s and keep themselves within the top four of the Western Conference. They have the ability to do so. And it’s going to be by committee led by defense getting out in transition getting easy buckets and then offensively running everything through De’Aran Fox our P&R action running some things for VCEL come maybe coming off some pindowns and then just trying to get the best opportunities and the best possessions that we possibly can. But at times it won’t be looking like watching the Spurs early on in the season when it was fun. We were flying all over the place. We were talent here, talent there, talent there. We’re going to have to win these games by grit. And this is going to be a good test for Mitch Johnson to see what he can scheme up how he can get these players into the best positions possible to succeed for the San Antonio Spurs team. So we don’t go on the three, four, fiveame losing streak, go from 10 and four to 10 and six, 7, 8, 9, and so on. I believe that this Spurs team can at least stay 500 over this next six games. put them at 13 and seven. I would be super happy with that. And by then, hopefully Dale and Harper can come back and we get a true good update on Wemi and a good update on Stfan Castle. But that will do it here for Spurs Digest. Hit a like because you hit the like button, people get really excited. The Spurs themselves get very excited. And guys, if you hit the like, continue to hit that like. WBY said he’d give me a call. So, just hit that like button. Please do that just for me. Wy said he’d give me a call. we get to a certain amount of likes, certain amount of subs. So, just continue to hit the sub, hit that like.
Though the Spurs continue to get bitten by the injury bug, and this time it is budding star Stephon Castle, they keep winning games. Castle will be out for at least 2 weeks with a left hip flexor strain, but veteran guard De’Aaron Fox has stepped up and helped lead the Spurs to a 10-4 record. Keenan Warner discusses what this injury means for the Spurs moving forward, and Fox and the Spurs can continue to improve without Castle, Wemby, and Harper.

still want coach to give a few more min to Carter.
This is the ideal time for Fox, Vassell, and Sochan to step up, and I also can't understand why Carter isn't getting more minutes. His shooting isn't there yet,but it makes a difference in defense.
Damn, if this team were always healthy, they'd be real championship contenders.
Glad to see Harper is coming back soon!
Love Sochan, it’s gotta be hard for him to figure out his role when one game his playing 6 minutes, the another game his defending a seven footer and at the same time playing the role of a guard on the offense. I think if given a more standard role he can shine so much more, specially now that he’s hitting 3s
Until Christmas, "when everybody is back"? I can only hope for that, but I'm not going to assume that, considering any player on any team can go down at any time. In fact, it's common for NBA teams to have multiple players on their injury report at ANY GIVEN TIME.
In the next few weeks, we will find out how good our Spurs' depth really is.
all these out, but we still win lets go, seems like a good culture at spurs this year
I think Harper should be returning from injury soon.
That's Carter's opportunity to get some confidence. He's not quite there yet but who knows, maybe he'll develop fast.
All them low top shoes man
32yo Harrison Barnes playing 32 MINTUES? Limp Mitch doesn't know how to play 10 players and we are wasting more time thinking he is going to figure it out. OKC knows how to play their bench. Mike Malone knows how. Without Wemby the Spurs are no better than a .500 team. Even worse when Castle and Harper are injured. So Barnes, Sochan, Keldon and Kornet are going to need to step up if they are going to make the play-in.
Want to see Bryant and Jones-Garcia get more playing time!
The "uptick in achilles" injuries is not due to calf strains. At least there isn't definitive medical evidence for it. Brian Stutterer covered this.
I’m very nervous with the games upcoming games. I can see us potentially going a significant losing streak. I just don’t know if our offensive consistency can match some of these other teams. Winning against the Griz is cool but we needed every single minute and the griz are objectively bad. Idk I just can see us being .500 or below by the time Wemby comes back
Barnes being a throw in with the Fox trade and the Kings paid for his salary is just mind boggling 😅
There are other young players who need to develop, notably Carter. There's something to explore here, we can't let him get too rusty, like we did with Sisoko. The guy ends up losing confidence by playing it safe, despite his huge physical potential. We can see that Castle and Harper are more than excellent. Castle is already a master who can take on any team and do well, Harper reminds us of White, not yet at his level in shooting, but already better at handling the ball, and more comfortable with both hands, which is rare. Beating the Rockets is no small feat, even at home.
Nothing to worry bout harper will be back Tuesday we be fine wemby and castle need to rest…..
