the youngest rookie center in NBA history to record 20+ PTS & 10+ AST in his 16th career game ever.

the youngest center to ever record 7 AST in a quarter

He also broke his hand before the season even started, and hasn’t had a training camp or preseason. He’s got people already loving or hating him, and he’s putting up great numbers. All over social media he’s a polarizing person it would seem.

Seems like Borrego knows to run the offense through him akin to Jokic/Sabonis/Sengun. I cannot believe Willie Green played Looney over him.

  1. When you watch the games you can just tell how everything shifts when he’s on the court versus off of it. There’s so much more ball movement when he’s on

I think this is the key right here.

If the Willie firing did nothing else it has cleared the way to not once again stagnate our rookies under Green’s heavy hand and hyper micromanaging.

If a young person can’t defend to his expectations, even if they are bringing something desperately needed elsewhere on the court, he will bench you for any number of higher defensive IQ but overall inferior vet or utility players(I.E. guy that reminded Willie the coach of Willie the player). Every year we would see him sell out offensive floor balance to load up on his favorite defenders. To this day one of the best games this team had in the regular season came against Dallas…..when Green couldn’t coach and Borrego actually thought to match fire with fire when Kyrie was having a hot not.

I’m still convinced it ruined Jordan Hawkins, it definitely held back Murphy for a while, and it was poised to leave Queen/Fears in the same precarious situation of Green only seeing our young players through the lens of defense and as such risking stunting their confidence/development.

  3. He’s so good. I love that we’re leaning into playing through him as a hub and the ball movement is so good when he’s on the floor.

  4. It’s crazy how everyone on the court looks happy to defer to a rookie center, because they know he will make the right play almost every touch

  5. We just need shooting around him. Poole stealing money from us. Hawk is ass from 3 and everyone not name Trey is inconsistent.
