17th place here we come

  1. Just don’t get your hopes up is the best way to tackle it. Focusing too much on a top 3 pick, but especially McKenna is just recipe for disappointment. Clearly ownership and Baloney the bagman are not going to move out veterans unless they absolutely have to. Last time the flames rebuilt we were in a similar spot, refusing to move Iginla, Kipper, etc, and basically just having Baertschi as our only decent prospect. It got forced on them eventually.

Out of our control so don’t get too worked up about it is my advice for what it’s worth

  2. I kind of actually hope they do get up to about 10th last. Win a few more home games. Send the casuals happy and singing “TNT”. Get an absolute “meh” pick. Keep the vets with term.

Then Maloney and all the old dinosaurs can pat each other on the back and go “see! We told them we’re not a last place team! Bunch of idiots!”

    They deserve it.

  3. I wouldn’t worry too much. The flames are still last place and they have some pretty tough games coming up.

  4. Sunday night, while enjoying a strong Flames win and feeling good for Zary and Yegor, I found myself also thinking “not right, guys”

There could not be worse timing for a streak. All we need is for a short period of success to reinforce ownerships thoughts that we aren’t a rebuilding team.
