The Detroit Pistons are everyone’s new favorite trade rumors
Okay, so we’re at a point right now in the season where there is a young upand cominging team that is a surprise that they’re so good this early in the season and we’re getting to the NBA content cycle where we’re talking about if that team should make a trade. Should they make a win now move? Should they make a big swing? I just never expected that team to be the Detroit Pistons. my favorite basketball team and I’ve never been on this side of the actually I have we have been on this side of the unwanted attention and that was the losing streak but I’ve never been on the side of unwanted attention for my basketball team when we have our own stuff to figure out right this this this streak this win streak that we’re on has been awesome it’s been one of the best moments I’ve felt as a Pistons fan in a while. Like, it has to go back to like watching Blake Griffin play for us. You know, it’s interesting cuz it always is funny cuz NBA media, the media cycle with everyone has a podcast that’s an hour long. Everybody has a podcast that’s daily. Sometimes you So, you got to talk about something. And it seems that we’re interesting enough to where they talk about us, but they talk about us in a capacity where it’s like, ooh, could Detroit make a big swing for insert player here? And if Traan Langden, if by by weird chance you’re watching this, I don’t think you need to make any move right now because one, we just got our entire team back. Just seeing Jaden Ivy take the floor against the Milwaukee Bucks was a big thing for us Pistons fans. Like we’re not even worried about the the trade talks. Like I think that we as Pistons fans aren’t really thinking about being contenders or whatnot right now because for the last since Jaden Ivy got hurt, we haven’t seen we haven’t really seen all of the players that we deem important to the Pistons future play together. like that Jaden Ivy that playoff run last year was without Jaden Ivy and that’s I think Jaden Ivy was he was having a great season last year and you know he’s hitting 40% from three and the sample size was big enough to where it was encouraging. Also, it’s kind of funny whenever I see these um these trade talks whenever it’s from people that like aren’t Pistons fans. It’s kind of funny because like these trade talks involve players that people think that we need. I think that people that watch Pistons games are like, I don’t agree with this at all. Detroit has a clear identity and sometimes these players might fit the identity and sometimes these players might not. The Pistons have the thing where it’s like we’re already good. like in other teams. It’s not like and I don’t think where the Pistons are desperate to make a win now move. Especially when you got the Oklahoma City Thunder looking like they’re going to win 78 games. Like I don’t If you’re new here, welcome in. And if you know me, welcome back. If not, that’s okay, too. On to the rest of the video. A really cool thing about this Detroit Pistons team is it feels like we have 12 playable players. Like, we have 12 people that we can play at any time. And I’m not like, why are they on the court? Are we trying to uh hemorrhage defensive points or whatnot? And I think that this team has enough of everything. And I think the only thing that we would need probably is a little bit more shooting. We’re not really that good in the three-point department, but the cool thing about this is that Detroit was able to be patient and find all of these solutions to what they needed organically rather than take having to take that risk and be like, “We need this now.” Right? So, for example, Detroit coming into the start of the season, we had real big questions at the backup point guard position, right? When Cade leaves the floor, what happens? And through through sheer injuries and adversity and whatnot, we found that with Dannis Jenkins, I feel like also the fact that Jay Nive is back also gives the Pistons another ball handler. And I think that that was probably one of the biggest things to keep this Detroit Pistons offense running. Um because I know that Cad’s a high level the playmaker and Jaden Ivy one of the fastest players in the league. And having that and seeing how good Dannis Jenkins can be, I think has been great. Right. Another question I think coming into the season was like the power forward spot because we had Tobias Harris and it’s been awesome to see Isaiah Stewart and Jaylen Duran be able to share the floor together because a couple of seasons ago we would have thought that that was impossible. The way that they were playing together it was really weird. And that happens to go with like Monty Williams’ strategy. Yeah, a lot was going on there. Also, there was just a lack of overall spacing that really hurt everybody involved to a point where we were thinking that our core four couldn’t work together. It was that bad, guys. And I think what’s really good about this Detroit team is that they they know what their weaknesses are. They know what their strengths are, and they play to their strengths. They don’t try to play like something they’re not. It’s often frustrating to see an NBA team play to something that’s like not what they should be playing as. Um, but it’s good to see Detroit in terms of um, points per possession. We have a top 10 offense and defense. That’s big, especially with the fact that we’re not the best three-point shooting team, guys. Like, we’re one of the lowest three-point shooting teams in the league, right? But we make up for it by getting to the rim. That’s big. That’s That’s so important to the fact that we can do that. So, Detroit knows how they play, but that doesn’t mean that threes aren’t important or whatnot. And like the accuracy isn’t bad, right? It’s 36% as a team, which is like not the bottom of the league, but it’s something that I totally understand why. Right now, the biggest thing about Detroit is that their rim defense is outstanding. Right? You only get 61% of shots at the rim, right? And then top is like Oklahoma City and then you have San Antonio with WBY. So, the fact that we are this close is good and we’re a tough cover because we have the guys the cool thing here on Detroit is that we have, I think, a really good balance of defensive focused players and offensive focused players, but they don’t all just do only defense or only offense, if that makes sense. Like Cade, like he’s not an only offense guy. if he gets switched on to the other team’s number one, K will give you good reps on defense, right? And then you have Ron Holland Assar where Assar is a primary defensive guy, but even though he isn’t the he isn’t like a good shooter at this moment in time, he still finds creative ways to score. And another cool thing about Detroit is that we’re top three in steals and blocks per game. This is lovely. This is defense is our identity. Defense is our big thing. Now I want to take a look at some popular trade target pieces that I have seen around. So the first trade target I’ve seen is Larry Markin. And Markin is currently under contract from 2028 to 29. So that’s like one two three four seasons of this. And he’s been mentioned in Trade Targets for a while. And the Jazz have made it clear that they would want a Sar Thompson in any trade package. And it’s it’s fair. I mean, Lori Markin averages 30 points per game for the Utah Jazz. I just do not see why the Pistons would do this under any capacity. I’m not saying that our defense would completely fall apart with outsar Thompson, but all I’m saying is that Assar Thompson does a lot to make the defense work. And I do not feel like the Pistons trading whatever for Lorie Markin is going to it would just be an identity shift and I don’t think that I like that identity at all. Be so for real. And the other thing I saw was with Zack Low where he’s like he’s averaging 40 and the price would be Jay Ivy, Ron Holland, Tobias Harris, four picks and four swaps. I do not like that at all. I It just just seeing a trade proposal that crazy just makes me uncomfortable. I don’t know, man. It doesn’t make me like feel excited. I think what we have right now is fun and great and I think we that we don’t need to be impatient with this this year, especially for marketing. I don’t think that that’s an answer. Also, I don’t ever want to trade with Danny A. I want no parts of that. Never want any parts of that guy. It’s like Danny A is like that one guy at the flea market whose prices are different from everybody else and you’re just like, what’s that guy’s deal? I don’t think I No, I’m good. I’m good on that. I don’t I think that doing all of this before we have We haven’t even seen We barely even seen Cade this We barely even seen this new edition of the Pistons playing with Jade and Ivy. That’s like the big thing as well. And I feel like the thing here is that we’re currently we’re winning, right? It’s not like it’s not like we feel the window is closing or we feel like we got to do something now or else. It’s we’re winning. And I know that the schedule isn’t the hardest. It’s not the hardest schedule at all, but that’s what I feel. I feel like there should be a little bit more of a steeping of seeing how good this Pistons team can be. Not talking I’m not even talking this year. Talking I’m thinking about the next two to four years. I know the East is wide open this year, but I don’t want to do something for just this year. I’ve seen how other NBA teams have done when they only focus on the current year and it backfires heavily. The next trade target person I saw was Anthony Davis and this got proposed. We just take a guess. Just take a guess who proposed this deal. We’ll get to that in a second. But uh yeah, I wasn’t expecting hearing Anthony Davis’s name in trade talks. I’m hearing a whenever I hear this, it’s either from talking heads that really haven’t watched the Pistons play or Mavericks fans, and I know Mavericks fans are trying to do whatever they can to get rid of Anthony Davis and whatnot. Please leave us out of it. We leave us out of it. I do not want Anthony Davis on my basketball team for a couple for a couple of reasons. One, he’s aging, right? When you trade for Anthony Davis, you accelerate whatever timeline you have, especially to a young team. Like the Pistons are a young team. And again, I’m saying this is everything that Nico Harrison just ignored because he likes Anthony Davis. I don’t like this move at all. I don’t even need to see what the trade proposal would be. It just doesn’t work. So, the proposal came from Kendrick Perkins and he claimed that the Pistons I mean, first of all, I don’t believe Kendrick Perkins at all. Just let’s let’s let’s just start off with that. And this is kind of the annoying part of what happens when your team suddenly gets good. It’s that you have to hear stuff like this and then yet not only that, you have to hear other people pretend it has weight and traction. Like I don’t look I do not want the Anthony Davis experience on Detroit. I do not want we can’t oh trading for a known injury-prone older big like the thing about Detroit is that their youth is like it’s Isaiah Stewart it’s Jaylen Durham they have youthful energy to the team and our vets even though it’s like Duncan Robinson or whatnot even though they’re they’re not young they still fit in terms of what Detroit basketball is. I don’t think Anthony Davis does that again. He’s only played, yes, he’s only played 14 of 48 games. That’s not something I want to trade for. I’m just not interested. Cool to me right now currently that I I believe and have faith in Traan Langden that he’s not listening to all the outside noise. And look, I got to say being a GM might be one of the toughest jobs in sports because not only do you have to think about everything you have to hear, you have to hear potentially see this everywhere. Now your team’s finally good. Oh, here’s what you should do next. You get so much unwanted advice from all of us. Like myself included. I’m not I’m not above this, but Pistons trade targets. And then so K here comes Kendrick Perkins talking about Anthony Davis and like just making that up. I feel like I don’t care if he’s on ESPN or not. Like this this is usually your powers for nefarious reasons and it’s bad. Like all of these trade proposals like it wouldn’t be it’s not you do it in your interest. You you do it cuz that sounds interesting to you. And Anthony Davis trade sounds interesting to the people that haven’t been tuning in and watching the Pistons absolutely win and play beautiful team basketball, guys. Now, I feel like the Detroit Pistons would make a move, but I don’t think that they do it now. I feel like it’s the part where Detroit has to wait and see for maybe another month at least to see what’s cuz not everyone can play all the time. I know we can’t do a 12man rotation. I mean, we could, but that I don’t think that helps anyone involved. And, you know, we have some contracts that are up like Tobias Harris’s contract is up after this season. Maybe we try to get as much value for that. I would be sad to see Tobias Harris go, but I think that the Pistons, it’s only, it’s only what, like 16 games that I make this video. I really just believe that there there doesn’t need to be a win now button that gets instantly pressed here. And I know that we are the one of the more interesting teams talk about cuz we’re something fresh, new, shiny. I get it. But this is not how I want my team talked about, bro. I don’t like when my team is in these hypothetical trade talks because now it makes me be like every every Sham’s every Sham’s notification sounds like a threat. You know, I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the Detroit Pistons basketball until further notice. Also, I’m just seeing this right now. Asar shooting 48% from the free throw line. Good god. All right, boy. But this Piston team is good. They have their own identity. They’ve been patient throughout all of the bad. I don’t think that we completely undo the current good that we have right now and just like take a risk because everyone else says we have to. Thank you guys for watching to the end of the video. Feel free to like, comment, subscribe. I appreciate you guys so much. Love y’all. Bye.

Bucks fan here, welcome to the hell that is being a great small market team! It'll never end
I saw that one dude on Youtube say that OKC have "thrown away their title window" in 2023-24 because Presti decided to trade for an expiring Gordon Hayward contract instead of, in his own words, "acquiring great bigs on the market like Kuzma, Claxton, Capela or Olynk".
Typical treatment towards a young team from a small market. If the team doesn't win, they tell you to trade away your stars. If the team starts winning, they'll tell you to sacrifice your future and trade away important pieces for a "star". All roads lead to the big market teams' benefit.
Only move even worth talking about is an extension for JD.
Honestly, congrats. As a Cavs fan, the "ridiculous trade idea" phase is a marker that you're legit
Ironically, pistons could be sellers this year. They have young talent sitting on the bench not getting reps. They could sell off Duncan, greene, lavert and Tobias to get draft capital and not be hurt that bad
Trajan has shown he’s willing g to be patient and let this team develop. Lauri for Ausar is a terrible trade. Ausar does so much off the stat sheet, it’s not worth it.
As an oldhead that remembers the Bad Boys era as a pre teen, hearing a young guy equate their best moment prior to this as watching Blake Griffin play for the Pistons is crazy to me. You deserve this team enjoy the run. Watching Stewart and Duren gives me Mahorn and Laimbeer vibes. It's exciting to see the next great Detroit team being built on defense.
I would love to see how Markkanen did in a team set to make a deep playoff run, but he's not worth trading the family silver for, and upsetting the balance you have going in your team right now.
Any team trading for AD at this point is desperate.
As a Pistons fan I am traumatized by this team’s trade history. Zach Lavine being connected to this team for the last several seasons has filled me with such a sense of dread. The Anthony Davis trade talk might eclipse that. I’d like to see Lauri in a Pistons uniform but nah not at the price being suggested.
As someone who remembers the last time the pistons were in this position, i am having the deepest traumas dug up… When all the biggest of big brains were mad about the pistons succeeding without a black hole of a playmaker to "create more offense" (a la Kobe), and convinced Dumars that what the pistons really needed was Alan Iverson. Out of all the trades the pistons have made since idk, 2000… No trade did more institutional damage than that move.
Stop putting this out there
No trades period. We got 13 dudes in our rotation. We got dawgs fighting for minutes. Our bench is deep regardless of any what sportscaster wants to tell you.
I'm so happy seeing pistons fans on here, not falling for the trade nonsense.
It’s only a matter of time before they try splitting up your two best players if you don’t make it to the finals
Bro when this news came out I said no fucking way this is true, but then I continued to see it all day every day for a week now. This all came from one mf and has snowballed into this. It's like the more I see it the more scared I get but you gotta remind yourself this all came from Perk, not like 5 or 10 people, just fucking perk. Foh wtf we look like trading for somebody as old as Tobias!?! Foh as fucking hell leave us alone hahahaha
This is just like all the clowns making trades for the Spurs as if they're gonna make a big one without figuring out what they've got on their hands. People were already sending Fox away before he even played 10 games with Wemby. Mfs need to chill.
I absolutely maintain that I would prefer no major moves this season. I think going into next year maybe even waiting until the trade deadline NEXT season is the move.
a lot of times i see these fake trades posted by fans of LARGER market teams like LAL who need to get rid of a player and think of smaller market teams as just dumping grounds and farm systems
Blake Griffin? That’s some PTSD I didn’t expect to hear today.
To me, this feels like January 2002. The calendar turned over and the Pistons just went ham on everyone (and did so for the next six or seven years).
Ah yes, the "Lakers cycle"
To Detroit: Michael Porter Jr
To Brooklyn: Tobias Harris, Marcus Sasser, 2 1st rd picks (1 unprotected, 1 top 10 protected), & 2 2nd rd picks
No hate to AD , but nah he good where he is
I don't think we need to make the Home Run swing but man if we can do it and make the run then why not?
You guys don't listen to the GM do you? Trajan Langdon has already said that he is not trading multiple players and picks for 1 guy. He didn't do it when he traded for Schroeder. He didn't do that over the summer so stop listening to these rumors. We're not bailing out the Mavs.
If the Pistons blow up the team and hand the Mavs a life raft I'll be livid. AD is not a good trade target.
NO big trades… Just get ready to pay Duren, that's it. Keep Cade and Duren together, establish a core of players that fit their style. This doesn't need to be over-thought. But, the talking heads have to be talking heads. The most disappointing person of the whole bunch is Zach Lowe. He's too smart of a basketball analyst to feed into the "you must trade for another name" conversation.
No trades
I think AD and Lauri Makrkanen rumors & the alleged asking price is ridiculous.
Davis is redundant and injured a lot so it makes no sense. Given what he would require in returning contracts to meet the parameters for salary match is not worth it.
Lauri is fine but I dont see him as the missing piece. Again the salary match is steep, what young guys they want is too much especially if they also want 4 firsts.
I believe there is one guy that makes sense if and only if Trajan thinks the finals and stealing a championship is possible. What I mean by that is the East is weak so the ECF is definitely highly likely but Oklahoma is too elite & dominant to not go back to back. Now having witnessed what the 2004 Pistons did in the finals vs a similar to this years Thunder, vs the Lakers its not impossible to shock the world vs OKC.
The player I am going to suggest that would make sense I am going to get killed for. That player is LeBron. Hear me out then scream at me. Why LeBron comes down to asking price, not being long term burden, his age, no longer being the Lakers franchise player & the right fit.
The Lakers have all but come out and said LeBron is no longer part of future plans. By acting that way it gives the Pistons leverage in terms of asking price. LeBron is 41 so he knows his career is winding down making him motivated to try to get another ring. He is an expiring contract with the option to extend for another year. He would give Cade the perfect number 2. His playoff experience would help navigate Cunningham in tight spots from limited playoff experience.
In terms of asking price I could see one of the young up starts being involved, Harris who is an expiring deal that in sign trade next offseason that could be valuable if he was moved to the Lakers Plus filler for salary match then I think a 1st or 2 could being enough with that package.
I also don't think the Pistons are at a moment where they need to include trade pieces for a PF. Let the guys play, let the team develop, and let's see about a PF later. Becoming good means good players start considering your team as a FA destination, and it also means you can leverage trades better if a player wants to come. For now, just be good, win games, let's see how good this team can be.
At the end of last season, I got recommended a video from a prominent Pistons podcaster that said that the Nuggets were going to blow the team up and trade Jokic for the Pistons for 2 first rounders and Ivey. There were hundreds of comments on the video, none of which were "seek help" or "is this a bit". Fans are all crazy, man
I am a pistons fan and I want an option who can rebound and can stand at the corner and open up space to cade and jd. Markkanens contract is too high and too long. I would rather get mpj. He is a better corner three shooter, he is cheaper (both in contract and in trade value) and needs less usage to be valuable. Plus, we could still have the option to go for someone like derrick white.
We're gonna need to make a trade at some point, but I would agree that we don't need to do it now, and I'm not sure when we do that it has to be a big swing deal involving a bunch of firsts like all the pundits and podcasters are drawing up.
I'm thinking something more along the lines of a 3 team deal that turns Sasser and some 2nds into, ideally, like a Keon Ellis
its crazy how I can play you and youtube tv at the same time and very clearly hear you over the nationally broadcasted audio lol your 125-1k hz range is so boost. Love your stuff, just an observation.
