With precious time ticking off the clock in the one-score game, the Cardinals opted against spiking the ball in favor of putting pressure on the Jaguars’ defense by staying up tempo and not allowing Jacksonville to sub out.

“Looking back on it now where the clock was, I would have liked to see us get it off a little bit quicker,” Gannon said Monday. “Not that we were discombobulated, but when that ref starts backing out, you got to get that snapped if you’re going to have a chance for two plays down there. It can be preference, it can be always and never, what you do in those situations.

“We talk about those constantly. You see people around the league do different things. Felt comfortable about it. Would have liked to get off two there. When we ended up getting the first one up and down six seconds, my goal there is to kind of keep us out of harm’s way and go to overtime. A couple more seconds on the clock, maybe you can get off another play, although probably what the defense is doing, you’re going to end up having to sail it anyhow.”

The sense of urgency (or lack thereof) from the Cardinals to get up to the line and run a play as the clock whittled down stands out.

The idea was there. The little details were not.

  1. While maddening, it’s not like Petzing would have drawn up some masterpiece to get into the end zone. The offense put up 17 total points.

  2. Hes right about 1 thing, we do see “teams around the league do different things.”

    smart teams & shit teams

that reminded me of the bears loss last year, where they nonchalantly wasted the last 30 seconds of the game

the fact he stands by the mistakes as being “good calls” is why he needs to go. He’ll never stop making wrong decisions

  3. If you don’t practice and execute the little things, you’ll never get the rest. This guy doesn’t get it and he never will

  4. Not just not spiking. Wilson decided to celebrate early and the ball got away from him, wasting even more time. Yet again, a player putting their ego before the team. [A far cry from Fitz rushing back to get the spike](https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/rd20j3/highlight_larry_fitzgerald_supreme_clock/). And it’s not even from some fringe player or 3rd stringer, it’s a starter the team has invested in.

This team has no interest in winning, they have no interest being here. It all stems from poor leadership

  5. To fire this coaching staff or not? That is the question and anyone in their right mind would say yes fire them!

  6. Maybe the Cardinals take a year off from playing the game and do some in-depth soul searching, starting with Bidwill.
