#DallasCowboys Fish at 6 LIVE: REPORT CARD TIME! How’d They Grade in Historic Comeback vs. #Eagles ?

Let’s get it on fish at six. I’m Mike Fischer, your trusty and trusted reporter. This is the fishbowl, the Cowboys fish report. That is the star and there are the six bongs on the wall for those of you who embibe. Uh let’s hand out the Cowboys report card. Tonight’s program powered driven by BMW of McKenna and Honda Cars of Mckenni. Quickly, let me give you an injury report first. Uh, the injury report just in. One moment, please. One moment. And for the Cowboys, Tyler Gayton with the ankle did not practice. Probably not playing Thursday. So, Nate Thomas is going to be your fifth starting offensive lineman. Osen did not practice elbow. George Pickins, um, we knew that he had a calf bruise or thigh bruise, something a leg. Well, it’s listed as knee, calf. Did not practice today. Don’t be alarmed. Cavante Turpin shoulder. and then uh not feeling well. Don’t be alarmed. Most of this stuff is just uh rest. Short week day after the game, get healthy. Clowny was limited, Fowler limited, Hooker limited, Wilson limited, and otherwise Cowboys were fine. And for the most part, except Gayton, I’m pretty sure will be fine. It’s worth noting the Chiefs injury issues. Noah Gray, the backup tight end, has a concussion. That’s a problem. and Trey Smith, they’re all pro guard, has an ankle issue and he almost certainly will not play. Rasheed Rice, Xavier Worthy, both limited today. Patrick Mahomes was full. He’s got a bit of a groin thing, but uh most of those fellas should be good to go and all the Cowboys except Tyler Gton should be good to go. Mr. Shadowwolf, hey Shadow Wolf, how about them Cowboys? Yeah. Uh, we’re going to hand out grades and the grades will, I hope, accurately reflect your level of excitement. Um, something else I wanted to get to, well, we’ll we’ll put it in we’ll put it in the report card. So, get in, get on, be good. Bring something of sports intellect to the table. Only five slappies around per program. And away we go. As you know, before the game, we put together a list of five things. Fish is five. Boy, if the Cowboys could just do these five things, they could win this game is what we said. Steve, are we gonna grade the first half or the second half? Yeah, I got to I got to smoosh it all together. So, we’ll figure it out. To the credit of a Cowboys team that could not get out of its own way in the first half, Dallas played, I’m not going to say perfect football. That’s not true. But they inched toward it in the second half and they win it at the buzzer as the Eagles mentally disintegrated. I did get that prediction right. They boy, they’re good talent-wise, but they they are basket cases. And that includes the head coach. The head coach is a nutball. And um maybe he deserves credit for for reeling in all the other nutballs and winning the Super Bowl. Of course he does. Or maybe they’d be even better if they didn’t emulate their coach, who’s a goofball. Cowboys tie a franchise record by coming back from being down three touchdowns before the game. We did fishes five. Now, let’s review those five categories and we’ll hand out grades. Category one, force the Eagles into being one-dimensional. We said, now this is a hard thing to do. Uh, but we said coordinator Matt Iberluse, he’s now got a couple more tools than he had in week one to contain Saquon Barkley. I think Saquon Barkley, and I’ve thought this for a long time, I think he’s as good a football player as there is on the planet. In week one, Dallas held him to 60 yards and gave it a go. Weirdly, this year going into Sunday, he’s averaging just 3.8 yards a carry. That’s a full two yards short of what he did last year during his spectacular 2,000yard effort. So, can you can you limit him? I thought it was doable, especially with Quinnon Williams uh and Kenny Clark musling up front. Don’t let Saquon run you out of AT&T. That’s what we said going in. What happened? 10 carries, 22 yards. That’s onedimensional. Jaylen Herz threw for 289, but Dallas completely shut down Barkley. And in the second half, Philadelphia’s offense produces four punts, missed field goal, fumble forced by Sam Williams, punched out of Barkley’s hand. And this Matt Eberfuse defense has life. I guess he’s not getting fired this week. Saquan only impact. Um he blocked Quinnon Williams with such force that uh he did bang up Quinnon Williams ribs. Weirdly Quinn Williams tough guy. I don’t think he’s even and he’s got rib problem. I don’t even think he’s on the injury report. I I just think he said tape some aspirin to it and let go. Um Quinnon he quote quote Squan did get me. He had an incredible eight quarterback pressures against Philadelphia. My ribs are kind of banged up, but I’ll be fine. Thursday for the Chiefs. Grade on controlling Saquon A. And I’m going to give you one more uh illustration of this. Get a load of this. Here’s Squan if I can find it. Saquon’s carries. Saquin’s runs in order. Two yards minus one yard. Two yards, seven yards. Two yards, one yard, one yard, five yards. One yard, two yards. Really? He did nothing. So, the Cowboys get an A in category one, limiting Squan, making him one-dimensional. Item two, we said you got to have everybody on offense come to the party. Keep in mind what Philadelphia’s defense did the previous two weeks. held the Packers and the Lions to seven and nine points. You You are going to need everybody and everybody’s going to have to show up big. That’s what we said. The Eagles have given up going into Sunday no more than 317 total yards in the last two weeks. So, I don’t know how you’re going to pile up yards. I know this. I said this going in. inside the locker room. Cowboys feel like they match up well with the Eagles. Forget the records. They just look at film. They look at what we they do and history says they’re right. But that’s how they felt in the locker room. So what happened? First half about as bad as it gets. CD drops Dak red zone interception at one point. Cavonte Turpin fumble and other different points over the course of the game. Dallas’s first half possessions were as follows. Turnover on downs, punt, fumble, interception, and touchdown. Turnover on downs, punt, fumble, interception. But after halftime, tables turned and Prescott becomes all the things that his supporters say he is. Ends his day with 354 passing yards, two touchdowns, interception in the end zone, and then the rushing the the tumbling TD on the rushing touchdown. More on Dak. As we mentioned this morning, his home record against the NFC East is now 22 and two. What? That’s the highest home winning percentage by any quarterback against one’s owns division in modern football since the merger. We’re talking about 50 years now. He’s also won 19 straight at home against the NFC East and he broke Tony Romo’s record for most passing yards in his career. By now we all know George Pickkins was a demon here again. Nine catches, 146 yards, a touchdown. CD. So when we talk about everybody at the party, George Dak, uh, Big Biscuit, five catches, 60 yards, and a couple big ones. Javvante Williams, 20 carries, 87 yards. Good. Cidi Lamb shows up to the party. When you go to a party at a fancy home like AT&T Stadium, you’re supposed to bring something. Bring a bottle of wine. Bring a gift for the hostess. I would say that CD Lamb showed up to the party. He forgot to bring a gift for the hostess. Um, Dak Prescott on Pickkins, the all solar system receiver. He’s not all pro right now. He’s not all world right now. He’s all solar system. He’s all interplanetary. And that matches Dak’s quote. He’s not from here. He’s not from this planet. We lucked into getting this guy. We have to make sure we can keep him here. I’m going to say this to you for the skillth time. The Cowboys can absolutely and even easily afford to keep George Pickkins. Great for everybody on offense. Show up to the party. B. Item three, contain, maintain, and maybe spy. Herz week one, Cowboys defense was okay against the pass. Allowed just 188 yards, but Herz scrambling, Herz offscript, Hertz looking up and going, there’s nobody standing in front of me that’s going to prevent me from running for 20 yards. Just an absolute killer. John Rendan, Uncle Fish, you are the man. John, you are the man. Along with 76,000 other fish heads in Cowboy Nation, all of you are the man and the woman. JK, George Pickkins at this pace will become the highest paid receiver in the NFL. That’s a tricky way of saying it. At this pace, you mean 144 yards receiving every game? That’s not going to happen. But George Pickkins has absolutely gone from being I mean three months ago he was hey could he be a 25 million APY two weeks ago was could he be a 30 and now to your point if you’re CD Lamb’s agent do uh you you you might could as we say in Texas you might could go to the Joneses and go you you’ve said all year you said all along that you have two number ones that CD and George are the same you’re paying CD D 34. So going back to week one, remember Dallas ends failed to contain Dallas linebackers failed to read, assignments missed, tackles missed. So here comes Dearvon Overshone and the new two new defensive tackles. May maybe you do something different like like stop hurts. Um, I watched film with Cowboy officials of week one and I can’t stress enough how they were just mortified at the mistakes being made by players when especially when Herz went off script. So assuming Ibrafus’s game plan was going to be sound here, execute it. That’s what I said. What happened? He he did he did get touchdowns. He had a touchdown run. Tosh put he did things. Uh seven rushing attempts for 33 yards did not murderize you. He certainly did not have the impact he had in week one. He was contained. As I mentioned this morning, there was one play where he decides he’s going to go wide and there’s like five Cowboys standing there waiting for him. That’s what’s changed. grade on containing hurts. A item four, exploit a secret eagle’s weakness with Javvante. I don’t know that everybody sees this, but we do. They do allow rushing yardage. They allow coming in 114 yards per game, so they can get gashed. And Jaylen Carter is a talent, but they allowed 160 versus the Rams. They allowed 172 versus the Giants. Could Dallas do some of that? Even though Jaylen Carter was going to be spitting mad. Cowboys came in rushing for 100 yards in all but one of their games. So, rush for 100 yards here. What happened? Javvante gets 87 yards on 20 carries, averages almost four and a half. The Eagles could not contain the run game. Uh Malik Davis gets his lightning run of 21 yards while Jaden Blue is watching trying to figure it all out. And then the biggest running play of all, Dax tumbling TD grade on the Cowboys using the run to hit them where they’re weak. A uh Rogers Pickins is better than a lamb, period. He doesn’t drop balls. He he he does catch most everything. I don’t think it’s I don’t think it’s obvious at all that Pickkins is clearly better than CD Lamb. For one thing, and I know I’m going against the grain here because right now everybody’s all excited. Give George Pickkins whatever he wants. Um CD Lamb has a what four-year track record here. CD Lamb is a perennial pro bowler over the course of four years. He’s had four good years, great years. Uh and George has had you know, two good months. So, as we like to say around here, let the cake bake. Let there there’s there’s going to be pressure cooker situations coming up here, including Thursday. Um, for me, CD Lamb needs to be more CD Lamb needs to do way more in terms of reliability. and then get out of your own head. And George Pickkins needs to be more and do more. So the the behavioral baggage is absolute distant memory. Let’s give this time. And finally, the fifth category as the Cowboys climb to 55 and one with a thread of hope. I don’t know what the percentage chances are now. Um, but they’re better. And we we were sitting around today at the 75 member staff. We had a big 75 member staff meeting. Who’s going to pick the Cowboys here? Are you going to pick against the Cowboys? Chiefs. Some injuries, short week, got to travel. They’re only favored by three. They’re they’re not infallible. H we’re thinking about it. I predicted Philadelphia would win this game 24-23. But I did say if if Dallas would follow these these five fish fives that they could win the thing. So to item five, win the red zone battle. Coming into the game, I thought this was a pivotal, absolutely pivotal thing. Dallas ranked 13th in red zone conversions for touchdowns, 61%. The Eagles the best when getting inside the 20 75% of the time. So the Cowboys are middle of the pack in the red zone. As good as they are on offense, the Eagles are automatic in the red zone. Push, push, and more. flip side, Eagles defense third best in not allowing touchdowns in the red zone. And um you might have guessed the Cowboys Cowboys third worst. Third best versus third worst, but it’s a 100 yard field, so there there’s room to do a lot of things. Still, I I said, and I quote myself, this game will be all about the red zone. So, what happened? The Eagles, three of three in the first half, but they didn’t get into the red zone in the second half. Cowboys three of five on their trips in the red zone. The fourth down call after the Cowboys special teams unit forced to fumble. Okay. Is that is that a failure? I mean, it’s a it’s a field possession win. Obviously, it’s a red zone failure. field possession win, but in the clutch, the Dak touchdown run being one of them. And then obviously you’re not technically in the red zone, but you’re in scoring position. And then Brandon Aubrey hits the 42 yard walk-off field goal. By the way, uh time to talk contract for butter. Yes, it is time. B Teing says that the Cowboys chance of making the playoffs has gone from 5.4% last week to nine. So they’ve almost doubled their chances. Dallas talked about believing in itself after the game and they’ve justified that. Dak Prescott talking about how it’s it was this is weird kind of talked about how fun it is to be behind like that because it’s so challenging. You test yourself. You stay focused and you understand you have a chance. Yes. The Cowboys have a chance, a 9% chance, but you’ve got to do this incrementally. So, instead of trying to look, and this is would be really wise of them, and let’s do it ourselves, too, because there’s a game coming up. I’m looking at my nonwatch on my hand. There’s a game coming up in a minute. Just this one. You just went from 5% chance of the playoffs to 9% chance of the playoffs. One more time. Do it one more time. Cowboys record a truly classic thrilling victory that um I certainly did not predict. Some of you did. All I said was if the Cowboys could do these things and get good grades, they got a chance. They did those things. The Cowboys in terms of red zone and the Cowboys in terms of the game. That’s an A. You take an A home to mother. Dallas Cowboys. Fish out.

  1. After gydon trip penalty, he should have been sent to o the bench!!! Secondary still stinks lb don't move till the ball is in the hands of the defenders hands. They need to close before they get the ball.

  2. 20 minutes into the game, I was considering options to watching the Eagles put up 42 on us. I didn't let it get to me, didn't get mad, and I'm glad I stayed.

  3. Mike fisher…. Bobaran 1 here. I remember, maybe a month before they traded Micah. Maybe a little more. I posed the question. What if we traded him. I just want to go on record saying. …. I was right!

  4. Pickens was never going to be a $30MM player, you was kidding yourself. Now he's going to be top ever $, barring a bizarre fall off. What do you think that will do to CeeDee's delicate psyche? I've been predicting this bromance to hit celebrity divorce all season and I fear I may be right. EDIT Unless they bump CeeDee's salary to match it. Everyone ready for $135MM per year on 3 players, $200+ on 6?😮

  5. Let me get this straight….so it's not just Dak but also the team when we talk about Dak 2-5 in the playoffs but it's Dak alone and not the team when we bring up the successful record against the NFC East over the years. Got it ✅️

  6. Grade the running game an A? 😮 adding inches from everywhere to squeak past 100 yards aside, they COULD RUN at an A+ but get a B for non useage penalty. I'm over Schotty's playcalling. He needs a redzone relief coach. And a challenge coordinator. Funny how Saquon can fumble and Aubrey can miss a nowadays mundane kick and nobody really mentions it. That's what a real reputation looks like.😊

  7. There's no cake baking, Pickens is better. CeeDee can console himself with 1) every other reciever is right there in that boat 2) few are better than CeeDee, but they exist and existed before the Pickens emergence and he didn't die then 3) if you can't catch, you're not anything, catch the fn ball 4) do #3 and your continued doubleteams will greatly help the team along side your own actual catches, which will come – already are tbh take his total yards…add the yards he missed via drops (YAC can't be estimated, but kept in mind) and add those penalty yards from the interference calls. Looking pretty good now, and he missed 3 games. Now looking awesome, catch the fn ball. BTW, he was getting mugged by Philthy and the refs were probably just thinking they were in Philthy.

  8. Both Lamb and Pickens make spectacular catches, but Pickens is far more consistent. Lamb drops far too many balls; he dropped TD catches in consecutive games. I shouldn't complain, but when you make that much money the bar is high. Having said that kudos to Dak and the defensive line – way to go guys! I didn't think I would be saying that this year.

  9. CeeDee was being massively held😂 but why doesn't matter, he was obviously covered but, especially in the end zone, sometimes Dak gets tunnel vision and that usually means CeeDee and viola the all too common Dak end zone interception.

  10. Barkley is suffering the curse of 370… if you don't know what that is, it goes like this… RB's who have over 370 touches fall into 3 categories the following year, those who perform significantly worse, those who get injured, and those who are Erik Dickerson.

  11. I’ll give them partial credit on an essay question. The old boobs still showed up for the first half. They got a division win at home which historically they do. They checked a box by dealing with adversity coming from behind and beating a good team. We need to show we can win against the Chiefs at home and win a tough road game against the Lions then we can talk about an A. It will be tough to do but it’s what good teams do!

  12. In the parking lot or on the field, Carter doesn't want any of Booker. Switching sides is worse 😅 Smith would've knocked his head off. (Guyton would've flopped with great flair 😅)
