Rhamondre Stevenson BENCHED As Patriots RB? MAJOR Giants News Impacts Matchup vs. New England

[Music] Could the Patriots be phasing Raandre Stevenson out of their plans? Well, that’s kind of what I’ve started to think after watching the Patriots win over the Cincinnati Bengals yesterday and it seems like well his role is kind of diminished and they’re kind of taking them out of their plans. Welcome to Patriots Today by Chat Sports. I am your host Bert Alper and Readandre Stevenson missed the last couple of games and he returned yesterday against the Cincinnati Bengals and well he really didn’t do much at all. I kind of made the prediction that he was going to be back into the role that we saw before he had that toe injury. They said that he was fully healthy. So I kind of thought, hey, he’s going to be full reps. Well, you’ll see it later in this video that no, that was not the case and it was fullon Tayvon Henderson. But before we get into that, thought I’d update you guys on our little November likes goal for the month. And against the Bengals yesterday, we did great. 1696 likes, but we’re still short of that goal of 30,000. 27,213. It is currently November 24th. We got 6 days, ladies and gentlemen. 6 days to beat this goal. So, let’s do it. show the Patriots nation on YouTube that we can achieve our goals and hit that thumbs up icon. So, Andre Stevenson, the question is, is he benched? And when I mean benched, it’s not like, oh, he’s never playing a snap for the New England Patriots again. It’s no, but if you saw before the season, before he got injured, he was taking the majority of the snaps. We saw Trevon Henderson getting like 12, 13, 14 to 20 snaps a game. Andre Stevenson was getting that 30 snaps a game. But then against the Bengals, well, it was the complete uh script flipped. Six carries, five yards, zero touchdowns, and yeah, less than a yard per carry in his six carries. It was not good. He did not look great. I don’t even want to say it was because of the injuries. When he got the ball, there was no line and there was nothing that he could possibly do. And it was just awful to watch. And it kind of made me think, well, Could he be phasing out? And this was the one play where I really was just like, “Oh, I was completely wrong about this one.” Well, it was on the goal line and I crashed out. If you want to go back and watch the watch party, they were at the one yard line five times and they gave her Andre Stevenson the ball and it did not work. And then the very next play they tried to run from the shotgun and it did not work. Both resulted in no game. And that just the thought, well, it’s the Tayvon Henderson show now. They tried to give her Andre another opportunity to see, hey, are you going to be that same guy? Are you going to be our starting running back? But with the way Trayvon Henderson has played the last couple of weeks and the performance that we saw against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday for Hen for Ramandre, it’s Tayvon’s team now. And we saw that and the Patriots have seen that with the Josh McDaniels and Mike Frabel. If you look at the touches between each and every one of the running backs, this is not snaps, this is how many times they touched the ball on the field. Trayvon Henderson 21 times and Raandre Stevenson only seven. Terrell Jennings, he was also active for today’s game or for yesterday’s game and he had one touch. I tried to run it at the one yard line. It also did not work. But I will just come in here and say I made a short last week or whatever it was and I went on here and I said start Ramandre Stevenson because he’s a better pass protector. He’s better inside the tackles. I am strong enough to admit when I’m wrong. Don’t start Ramandre Stevenson. Start Tayvon Henderson because it obviously brings the more it brings more success for the Patriots. They can suffer with how bad Trayvon Henderson’s blocking is and he’s only going to get better. But I will say, don’t bench him. You still need Raandre for the depth. There are still going to be times when it’s third down and one and you’re going to want to hand the ball off to him. But if I’m going to talk about it, I don’t think that Raandre will be here in 2026. Currently, he’s like the 11th or 12th highest paid running back in football. But once we get past the 2025 season and on to the 2026 season, when you get to that postjun one cap hit, well, if you cut him, you save 4.85 in dead cap. That’s what the dead cap goes to. So that’s not that big of a hit for the Patriots when you currently have so much cap space. And post June one trade, if you trade them, you only have 1.6. I’m sure there’s some team out there that is going to be willing to give a fifth round pick and say, “Hey, we’ll take Raandre. We’ll we need a downhill runner and you guys obviously want to give the keys to Tayvon as your starting running back.” So, I don’t think that Raandre is going to be here in 2026, but you guys let me know what you think. Is he going to be here next season? Because I’m starting to not believe it, especially with how the how his role is going for the rest of the year. I love him, but I don’t think that it’s going to happen. You let me know down in the comments section. It’s good to be right. All right, talking about this weekend’s matchup. It’s a Monday night game. Patriots got an 8day break ahead of it and it’s the Giants against the Patriots. You know we hate the Gmen. You know how much we cannot stand them. Well, the Giants right now are a dumpster fire, and that’s why you see right there that uh a lot of people don’t think that the Giants are going to win. But they also made a move after yesterday’s loss to the Lions. And the Giants finally fired their defensive coordinator, Shane Bowen. Something that the fans here, something a chat sports ho Giants now host Marshall Green wanted for weeks and they finally did it. And why did they do it? Well, because the Giants aren’t as bad as the record states. They’re like two and 10 on the season, but they have led in every single one of these games. And look at the time because I know we make the joke of how Drake May’s the comeback kid and it’s be like, “Oh, 14-3 in the second quarter.” But no, look at these. 37-34 with 14 seconds left. Loss. 14-3 in the second quarter. Loss in the game. 26-8 to the Denver Broncos. Loss. Loss. Loss. All those games are losses. And then the defense of the Giants has been awful. If you look at the ranks, this comes from Get Up. They opponents points per game, they’re 30th in the NFL at 27.8. In opponent yards per game, they are 30th with 385. They’re last in fourth quarter scoring and total defense. So, they decided, we’re going in a different direction. Shane Bowen, you’re out of here. So, when the Patriots face them, they’re going to get that interim boost. They already have an interim head coach in Mike Kfka. They’re going to have an interim defensive coordinator Monday also. So, that’s going to be something that you have to take into consideration when the Patriots play them on Monday. The Giants defense is going to have that little boost. You’re going to have to worry about uh Brian Burns. You’re going to have to worry about Dexter Lawrence. You’re going to have to worry about Kavon Tibido, all those guys. But the one thing about Shane Bowen getting fired sparked a little thought in my eye. And that’s where I thought that Shane Bowen being a future New England Patriot and coming on the coaching staff. And people are like, “Right, he’s terrible.” Which I do think he’s terrible because I watched those Giants games and they he was bad, but I really could see him joining this coaching staff maybe even this year. And why? Because Bowen has massive connections to head coach Mike Frabel. They are very, very good friends and they go way back. And when I mean way back, they go way back. This is a 13-year relationship in the making. Where was Mike Frabel back in 2012? Oh, well, he was with Ohio State. Who was at Ohio State? Shane Bowen in 2012. Oh, where was Mike Frabel in 2016? He was with the Texans. Who was with the Texans as an assistant? Shane Bowen. And then Mike Frabel became the head coach of the Tennessee Titans in 2018 and got fired in 2023. Who became an assistant for the Tennessee Titans in 2018? Shane Bowen. who was all the way there and got promoted to defensive coordinator in 2021 and was there for two years and left after Mike Frabel was fired. Shane Bowen. There are so many connections to these two and they’re also very, very, very close. I could see Shane Bowen joining the New England Patriots staff two weeks from now. They are extremely close and they have connections and we know that Mike Frabel brought in a lot of his Tennessee guys all the way over to New England and there was a lot of rumors that he was go Shane Bowen was going to be one of them but stayed with the Giants and now he’s fired and Taylor Kyles he posted this earlier today on Twitter and uh Mike Frael was asked during his press conference and he called Shane Bowen a close friend and says he’ll support Bowen and his family the best he can while focusing on his job with the Patriots. Well, being a close friend and supporting him, I’d call him up and be like, “Well, I mean, you got somewhat of the credentials. You want a job because we can get you as an assistant. I could see that in heartbeat, but I don’t want it. I don’t want that to happen. I saw what Shane Bowen was with the Giants defense. They have a very, very talented roster on the defensive end. Brian Burns is really good. Kavon Tibido is really good. They drafted Abdul Carter and he’s been absolutely quiet. I wonder why. Dexter Lawrence is one of the best defensive tackles. I could name them over and over and over. They have a really talented roster, but they haven’t done anything with it. And why? Probably because of the coach. So Shane Bowen, I’m probably going to just be wrong about this because I I just see it happening. But I don’t want them to hire him. I don’t want us to hire him, but it’s probably writing in the wall at this point. Would you hire Shane Bowen as an assistant?   18. Stevenson is only here this year because of the guranteed money. Next offseason they will cut their losses and look to find someone else to split the workload with Henderson.

  20. Once a rb fumbles the way he has, its very rare they will come back from that. He probably fumbles in practice. Let's take our chances with Henderson

  21. Would love to see Henderson behind an improved OL. They've been better than most feared coming into season, but McDaniels has helped to cover up for a lot & Mayes ability to move has helped a ton as well. Still wish he took more checkdowns. No1 wants him to be a check-down Charlie but there's a ton of times when he Diggs underneath or Henderson as an outlet & we end up with nothing instead of getting the ball to those 2 in space. He's the type of kid who will get it eventually tho. The OL needs to do better job pushing guys back tho. Pat's ain't as bad as Raiders OL but it still hasnt been great & it's been the biggest issue in goal line. Only casuals think it's on McDaniels. Are the haters who try & say that watching? Look at everytime they stalled, majority of time they've stalled inside 10, either the rbs are getting contact at line of scrimmage or sooner, or Maye has someone in his face on the passing downs. Ya have to be able to run the ball inside the 10, especially inside the 5, & guys are getting stood at best & far too often blown back. And can excuse the kids, but any1 who saw the Pats under McDaniels, who was vocal & upset bout Josh being the hire. They look like idiots now. Maye had same skill set last yr. He is obv seeing the game way better & while he deserves the most credit, any1 trying to rob Josh of credit don't know football. Obv a great staff was put together & players deserve credit too, Milton, Diggs, Boutte, Tonga, Spillane & list goes on. Gonzo is gonna start reminding peeps too . But make no mistake, the biggest reasons for this insane turnaround are Maye, Vrabel, Josh. Each has had massive impact & all 3 form the holy trinity in to bro rn. The smart folk who know, really know

  30. I sure hope we trade him, and stop using him! He fumbles too much, slow, and the entire offense was out of sync when he was on the field! When he's on the field, there's no threat of a big play.

  35. Personally as a former coach, the way I looked at it, was that the Pats were easing him back in. Not much point in putting him in as the work horse, only for him to hurt his foot again. I would have done the same. Give him one or 2 carries in a game, be a decoy for one or 2 snaps, have him be a blocker for 2-4 times. Then practice during the week, and come the Giants game slowly increase the work load. This is a business remember. If an asset remains injured it is a drain on resources, get them back to full productivity. Or, if you have decided to get rid of him, then cut him completely and bring in a new asset. Business first, entertainment second! Sorry!

  36. Henderson had 18 touches for 66 yards rushing. Stevenson had 6 for 5 yards. Both averaged 5 yards per reception. Henderson would have had the same results on goal-line rushes. He's not a north-south rusher. Plus, could it be that Stevenson wasn't 100 %? You are the only one who says he was benched. Did Vrabel call and tell you he was benched?

  41. When he ran up to the line and basically just turned around and went down. I said WTF??? He wasn't even trying to score. He has lost his taste for the goal line. He could have ran then leaped for the line. No Nothing just turned around and sat down. Afraid to fumble!

Bro WHY are you going back on your hot take, Henderson is valuable for the future and half our o-line is hurt!!! unfortunately we don't have Gibson anymore this season, so Henderson is bound to get touches but START STEVENSON! Henderson was never an every down back in college he shared a backfield with Quinshon Judkins!!! PATS fans love to ignore this. Get him BACK ON KICK RETURN!!!! Kyle Williams does NOT belong back there returning kicks..
