Return is Brandon Clarke and Dick Fitts (what a name).
According to MLB’s list, Brandon Clarke is the 5th best prospect in the Red Sox system.
As I commented earlier, the same people who complained about Mo will complain about everything that Bloom does. Right away, we didn’t get anything back. You don’t have any idea what the strategy is. We have freed up $35 M from payroll that can be used for other players. Of course, then the bitching that ownership will just reduce payroll and do nothing else. You have no idea yet but you just complain about everything. We’ll never move Gray and they did. Armchair Reddit experts. The proof is all the things that happen in the aggregate before Spring Training, not now. Immediately it’s just a fire sale.
Clarke is #5 on Boston’s prospect rankings
in Chaim we trust.
Clarke will be a force. Lefty with a 95+ heater and a devastating slider. Big get for bloom
I actually like the return. Fitts is ready to be tested in the majors and Clark is raw but has good upside as a borderline top-100 guy.
People whining about this trade do not understand rebuilds. We’re paying the sox 20 mil to get a better return. And we’d have had to pay money to buy out his option next year and now we don’t. You don’t hold onto a 36 year old with some value to tread water.
I love Sonny, but I like this trade.
Realistically, this is probably a little better than what we could’ve hoped for. Certainly better than what I expected.
This is actually a really good trade it sucks to see Gray go because he was great for but it needed to happen and the return is pretty good
The Chaim Holidays have begun
Really enjoyed watching him, hope he has success in Boston. For a guy who’s been coughing up more dingers the past couple of years — particularly to right field — I wonder how he’ll fare at Fenway.
Can’t wait for the first “And Dick’s Fitts #69 in there for a called strike” from Chip next year.
Why in the name of God is this a good deal??? Who else do we have that can give us a reliable start?!

And so it begins.
I didn’t think they’d be able to dump his salary this offseason
OH MY GOD! WE’RE HAVING A FIRE!
sale
Good. Needed to happen. Hopefully a decent return
Excellent news
Did we at least get the brand name bag of chips instead of the store brand?
Arenado next
54-108, here we come!
Good. Shed the higher salary vets with little upside, and sell those with upside where we can get better value in talent/roster cost.
>St. Louis Cardinals receive: LHP Brandon Clarke and RHP Richard Fitts
Brandon Clarke seems like a great get, high upside guy with a 70/80 grade slider and 86th overall rated prospect.
