  1. I see that white ESPN lettering in front of the red background and I get excited every time. Passan bombs, baby!

  2. It bears repeating, but “Sonny Gray” is an 80 grade baseball name, especially for a pitcher.

Sonny Gray sounds like a guy who pitched 500 innings a year in the dead ball era

  3. This has got seven shut out innings in the ALDS against the Yankees written all over it

  4. Passan:

    > Full trade, per ESPN sources:

    > Boston Red Sox receive: Sonny Gray and cash

    > St. Louis Cardinals receive: LHP Brandon Clarke and RHP Richard Fitts

  5. What are they doing moving Clarke for an expensive one year rental of a 35 year old. JFC

This only makes sense if they are going for it right now. Like, Alonso/Cease levels of going for it.

  6. As a Baseball fan who’s first Introduction to baseball was the 2006 WS. Im sad the direction the Cardinals are going, but hopefully a nice rebuild. Need Walker to pick it up though

  7. Its finally starting to feel like the Off-season with trades, signings and Hall of fame talk. AL East gonna be the best division in the AL.

  8. wow look at that a division rival trading for pitching again. Wonder what pitcher we about to trade to get another bat.

  9. I’m just glad we are working towards a rebuild instead of signing 35 year old vets and acting like “this is our year!”

  10. Gray has been one of my favorite non-Red Sox pitchers his entire career so I am hyped
