Appreciate everybody for stopping by as we react to some reports coming out across the NFL from Ryan Dunlevy and Josina Anderson on the New York Giants head coach search. Ryan Dunlevy saying Lou Anarumo the Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator is the slight favorite to be the next head coach for Big Blue. that came first. And then Josina Anderson put out this saying, “A league source says Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo is expected to receive strong consideration for the Giants head coach vacancy this upcoming cycle while also emphasizing his familiarity and relationship with current general manager Joe Shane. It remains to be seen how much said connection will influence ownership relative to Shane’s status once the search is complete. Here we go. The mom and pop shop. They’re back at it. They’re now going to have the cousin of the brother that worked the icy stand last summer to come back and work this summer. Why do the New York Giants operate like this? Why do they only hire people that have some sort of connection or some sort of relationship or some sort of friendship with someone that is employed by the New York Giants? Are you telling me the only people that the Giants can get to work for them have to be buddies of people in powerful positions of this $10 billion organization? It is a joke. And that is why the New York Giants have the most losses in the NFL since 2017. If you can’t tell, I’m not too excited about the possibility of Lou Anarumo being the next head coach for the New York Giants. For the people that don’t know, Anarumo is the defensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts. This is his first year there. He previously was the defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2019 to 2024. He was actually interviewed in 2022 to be the Giants head coach and they did not hire him despite all the connections to Joe Shane. And he actually was a Giant before. He was the Giants defensive back coach in 2018. And the most important part, ladies and gentlemen, he grew up in Staten Island and he is a fan or was a fan growing up of the New York Giants. So he’s good friends with Joe Shane. He worked for the Giants. He’s from the area. He was a giant as a child. I mean, how much more perfect of a candidate are you looking for? I go back to this tweet on November 12th from Dan Dugen where he kind of hinted that he thought Louis Anaruma was the favorite and he was asked why that is his rationale and Dugen said, shout out to Dan Dugen. Go support him on Twitter. Go uh subscribe to The Athletic and read his work. He’s one of the best in the business. says has worked for the organization, has friends in high places within the organization, was on the radar in 2022, has a strong connection to Shane. Shane hired his son as a scout. Keeping CFKA allows ownership to believe they’re not screwing up Dart like they did Jones. He also talked about CFKA having a real chance. So, think about this. Dan Dougen was asked why he thought Lu Anarumo could be a favorite. None of the reasons he mentioned were about coaching, has worked for the organization, has friends in high places, and was on the radar in 2022. And his relationship with Shane is well documented. Anna Rumo was with the Miami Dolphins from 2012 to 2017. And Joe Shane was with the Dolphins from 2008 to 2016. So from 2012 to 2016, both of those guys were with the Miami Dolphins. I I don’t understand why the New York Giants are the only organization in the NFL that cares more about the relationships and ties to the organization than they actually do the quality of the coaching candidate. So, let’s dive in to that. This year with the Indianapolis Colts, Anarumo is doing a good job. Points per game allowed, ninth best in the NFL. Yards per game, not that great. 23rd. Opponent’s points per play sixth. Very good. Yards per play 13th above average. Opponent’s third down conversion percentage 28th. That is probably his strongest calling card right there. Fourth down conversions 13th. When it comes to they are converting 55%. You want that percentage number to be lower obviously. And when it comes to opponents red zone scoring, they have the 12th best red zone defense. and they allow the eighth most touchdowns per game. So, pretty good on some of those numbers. When it comes to the run defense, that’s probably where he stands out the best. Yards per rush, top 10 opponents rushes per game, how often they run the football, top 10 opponents rush yards per game, seventh best, miles better than where the New York Giants are right now at 32nd. And opponent rushing TDs per game, 12th. When it comes to passing yards, still pretty solid. opponent’s completion percentage is the 12th best yards per pass. 12th best passes passing yards per game. Not that great. 28th 245 passing yards allowed per game. One thing I like to look at is opponents interception thrown percentage. 10th best against the Colts. So pretty solid there. And sack percentage 13th. So even though they don’t blitz at one of the highest rates in the league, they are still able to get pressure. We have a lot more stats to dive into around Louis Anarumo. We’ll take a deep dive into his days with the Cincinnati Bengals. I’ll give you my ultimate take on if he should be the coach and we’ll look at the betting odds right now of who are who is the favorite to be the next head coach. I want to hear from you though. Grade Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo as a head coach. Candidate A, B, C, D, or F? For me, it’s a C. Um is not a great candidate, not the worst candidate in the world. I personally think the New York Giants can do a heck of a lot better. And I’ll tell you why coming up in a second. But first, if you are looking to get a new wallet, get hooked up with Ridge. Why am I not the biggest fan of Lu Anarumo being the next Giants head coach? One, I know he’s having a solid year this year in Indianapolis. I think that has more so to do uh with the defense and the actual talent on the field as the Colts are loaded on defense. Lanna Rumo has not been a great defensive coordinator. I would actually lean to say he’s been more so below average in his eight years as a defensive coordinator. He was the defensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins back in 2015 and they allowed the 19th most points per game. Then he got hired in 2019 to be the Bengals defensive coordinator and they allowed the 25th most points per game. Then the 22nd, then the 17th, then the sixth, his best year, then 21st, and then 25th. And this year with the Colts, it is ninth. So, you can’t tell me he is a top defensive coordinator in this league. He has done a good job against Patrick Mahomes. I think he um does a good job of scheming him up, but like 25th, 22nd, 21st, 25th, like I don’t really know what else needs to be said. I also like to look at takeaways under a defensive coordinator. How do your How do you coach your team to take the ball away on Miami? The 29th most turnovers and 28th and 27th and 17th, 8th, 12th, 7th, 7th. So, three of the last four years have been inside the top 10. And four years in a row, he’s been inside the top 12. And I do appreciate that. That’s probably my favorite thing about him. The Bengals were a team that could take the ball away and the Colts, they were doing that this year. The New York Giants, they are allergic to causing turnovers. So, that would be a boost in that department as well as the run defense. But, I’ll say this, if the Giants loved Lu Anorumo, why didn’t they hire him in 2022? I get it. You thought David was a better candidate. You know what? Fair stuff. I won’t even go there anymore. But why didn’t you hire him this off seasonason to be your defensive coordinator when your owner John Mara essentially verbally fired Shane Bowen at the start of the offseason following the week 18 game last year. Do we not forget John Mayer said, “I’m tired of seeing my defense play like the way that they have played to the media in an impromptu press conference essentially greenlighting a decision to fire him.” And remember, Lanna Rumo didn’t have a job this summer. He went on to coach the Colts this fall. The Giants could have hired him. And if you loved him that much, you could have did it. And people would say, “Well, Marshall, that was a dead man walking.” Who would want to join the New York Giants when you knew Brian Dav was on the hot seat? What if Joe Shane said, “You would be the interim coach if we fired him, and if you did a good job, we would promote you to the head coach.” I I don’t want to hear that there was no way that Lannarumo was coming here. Remember, he’s from Staten Island and he grew up a fan of the New York Giants. That’s the most important thing to the Giants. So, why would it not be important to Louis anarumo? I I I just don’t get it. Would I be happy if the Giants hired him? No. Would I be pissed off? A little bit. I just think they personally can do a little bit better than Lannarumo as their defensive coordinator. I went and I looked up the current betting odds to be the next head coach and Lanna Rumo wasn’t even featured. Chris Shua is the favorite right now at plus 300. Mike McCarthy, former Green Bay Packer and Dallas Cowboy head coach at plus 500. Mike Cafka plus 600. Lane Keifin. Then Clint Kubak, Joe Brady, Jeff Hafley, John Gruden, Cliff Kingsberry, and Matt Naggie. So that’s 10 coaches. We’ve also talked about Louis Anarumo. And you guys know who the head coaching candidates are. So I’ll ask you, who do you want to be the next head coach for the New York Giants? Sound off for me down in the comments section. Right now, Chris Shua is number one in my power rankings to be and who I want on my wish list to be the next head coach. I continue to go back and watch his press conferences. I love the way that he’s gone about getting the most out of a Los Angeles Rams defense. I love I love everything about him. and I think that he would be able to bring in a good offensive coordinator. I don’t even hate if it’s Mike Kfka, but it’s always a good idea to pluck an offensive assistant from Los Angeles and bring him along with you. Make sure you are following me on social media. I’m on Twitter. I’m on Instagram, Marshall Green

  1. Bill Parcells grew up a Giants fan, at the end of the day if Lou has the same fate as Daboll, are you going to be ticked that he was a Giants fan who couldn’t get it done. Culture matters if you look at the coaches who have succeded as Giants head coach. 4 Super Bowl victories with two coaches who worked for the organization. You say they have not given young guys a shot or not anyone who didn’t come from the organization. They’ve given young coaches a shot. Shurmur, McNamara, Judge and Daboll. None of those guys came from the Giants organization. So I don’t know what you are talking about. You are inaccurate and hypocritical.

  2. Despite the fact that Lou Anarumo has a fairly decent resume and has connections to Joe Schoen – It's going to take alot more than that for him to win the Giants head coaching job. There's nothing about him that says he's ready to be a head coach. Joe Schoen cannot afford to take another pointless gamble if he wants to solidify his position as GM in the future. He needs to get a proven candidate.

  3. What I get from this is that they're trying to hire someone who's friends with Shane so that way they can keep Kafka. They want to keep continuity for Dart. But that's not to say Kafka won't win the job
Butt I guess this answers the mystery of how they operate internally and why coaches are not successful there.

  4. This is awful news if it becomes anything. Go get Mora to work with the kid. Hire the kid a QB whisperer. No need to go in this direction. Why dint you hire Schiano at this point- he is from Jersey, worked with Winston, knows offense and defense… I mean cmon

  5. I want someone that knows how to RUN the whole football team, not just one side of the ball. The two Mikes have proven they know how to lead men and run every aspect of a team, McCarty and Tomlin. I would be a happy man with either of them hired. Tired of guys getting hired as HC who are wet behind the ears and wasting my time and the carriers of players to see if they will be a good HC. Let's do it right and get a guy in here that can fix this thing, salvage the talent we have and build from there.
