A sixth-round pick back in April, Harris delivered the best game of his young career in Week 12, earning an 89.0 PFF grade in the loss to the Seahawks. He was targeted three times in coverage and did not allow a reception, finishing with a pair of pass breakups.

  1. It cannot be understated how much Borgonzi cooked in this fucking draft. Never understood the hate that him and Brinker have received thus far. They inherited a mess and in one off season they have already given us all reasons to believe they’re the guys for the job.

    Just need a coach.

  2. This draft class was bonkers. We see probably going to see Slater and Mullens contribute before long as well.

  3. Cam had his best game but y’all need to put some respect on Chimere Dike. That man is a 4th round pick and besides the one muffed return I can’t think of anything he does except ball out on Sundays.

  4. i’ve always been a defender of PFF (I will immediately discredit them for one questionable grade that doesn’t fit my agenda after the next game)

  5. I’m not sure what to make of this tbh. So he was targeted only 3 times and got a good pff grade because he didn’t allow a catch on those 3 targets? Is that all PFF goes off of when grading DBs?

  6. The draft was good. I’m still a little wary of the picks in the 2nd and 3rd round on a project Edge and an injured player. But Borgonzi has the benefit of the doubt for the moment.

  7. This adds up with KC’s ability to constantly find good late round CBs. Also Myles Garrett might have 10 sacks against us. Not really because I’m down on our OL, I think they are promising. But because this coaching staff has ZERO idea how to scheme against a defense.

  8. Article doesn’t even link to the right Marcus Harris lol. That aside it seems like the staff felt comfortable with him stepping in for McCreary, which is a super positive sign all around.

Dike not getting returner of the week lame, but I guess it’s because he had that mishap before the TD. Just happy we have so many bright spots in this rookie class. With Winston looking good we have 6 players currently starting at relatively high levels. Repeating that this coming year would do wonders to turn this franchise around.

  9. There is another feature on PFF grading the top 15 rookies through 12 weeks. Cam isn’t in there due to the way this season has gone, but Marcus comes in at #12 between Colton Loveland and Jalon Walker. Him, Jackson Hawes (5th) and Skattebo (3rd) are the only non 1st/2nd rounders on the list. Their blurb on him:

    >The [California](https://premium.pff.com/ncaa/teams/2024/REGPO) product has seen his role increase after [Tennessee](https://premium.pff.com/ncaa/teams/2024/REGPO) traded [Roger McCreary](https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/roger-mccreary/83176) to the [Rams](https://www.pff.com/nfl/teams/los-angeles-rams/26) midseason. He has played 108 defensive snaps over the past four weeks and sports a top-10 PFF run-defense grade (78.9), along with a 71.2 PFF coverage grade. Harris has been targeted 15 times, with only five catches allowed for 35 yards. He has given up three first downs and a touchdown but is also sitting on a 27.2% forced incompletion rate and just 3.2 yards allowed per target.

It matches some of his draft profiles that described him as an elite run defender with sound tackling ability:

    >(From NFLDraftBuzz)
Harris is the type of player who makes scouts pound the table on day three. His elite run defense and exceptional tackling ability jump off the film – these aren’t just solid traits, they’re difference-making skills that translate immediately to the NFL level. He’s precisely the kind of late-round gem that smart defensive coordinators identify as undervalued because the eye-popping athleticism isn’t there, but the football player absolutely is.

I had no idea who he was when we drafted him. But KC has had a ton of success drafting DBs on day 2 or 3, and without getting too ahead of myself based on 108 snaps, it looks like Borgonzi was a part of that. Hoping he is able to sign Watson from KC (who he helped draft) and another DB in the draft to really turn around the room in 2026.

Edit: If Slater steps in as our starting G/C next season and has success (and obviously Cam takes a step forward), this could be one of the most ridiculous drafts in recent NFL memory.
