  1. Went there a couple summers ago. Walked on the road right by this and didn’t even notice there was a baseball “field”. They did take us to the blue football turf on the tour though

  2. I bet there aren’t many Fred’s with the last name Ipalook and I bet there ain’t many Ipalook’s with the first name Fred

  3. Is there a more northernly baseball diamond that *isn’t* in the United States? I’d be more interested to know why that one even exists, if so.

  4. Utqiagvik Whales’ Owner Announces Need for Domed Ballpark, Warns Relocation to Kotzebue Could Be Considered

Utqiagvik, AK — Utqiagvik Whales Managing Partner and Principal Owner Fred Puckelshwartz announced today that without “meaningful and timely progress” toward a new, modern domed stadium, the organization will begin formally evaluating relocation options as early as next season.

At a press briefing held outside Piuraagvik Baseball Field, Puckelshwartz emphasized that the aging facility “no longer meets the competitive, economic, or fan-experience standards required to sustain a baseball franchise in today’s environment. We love this city—the enhanced Gazebos Experience and our BlubberDogs Meal Deal offering show our commitment. But we owe it to our players, our employees, and our fans to ensure stability.”

  5. The State should use some of their oil funds to put in artificial turf. Make it a proper ballfield.

  6. I was just there a couple months ago and have a picture of this very field. Wish I could post pics in the comments.

  7. As an Alaskan I’m once against asking the bananas to come bless us with a midnight sun game
