  1. DAY 374 (987/487) on THE ROAD TO THE 2026 6TH WBSC-MLB WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC – Our Gratitude for Baseball’s Return to the Olympics in 2028

Today, as the torch relay for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortino d’Ampezzo in Italy has started in Olympia, Greece, on this the eve of US Thanksgiving Day, one final note of gratitude goes to the fact that in just three years from now our sport, after a triumphial and momentous comeback in Japan for the 2020-21 Summer Olympic Games, will be officialy back on the calendar of events for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, with all games slated to be held in Dodger Stadium – the same site of the sport’s official Olympics introduction 41 years prior.

Come next year, alongside the World Baseball Classic and the myriad of many national and international events in our sport’s calendar, and the pro and amateur seasons, will be also a number of WBSC qualifying events in readiness for the search for the 6 to 8 national teams – hopefully of a mix of MLB and international league stars, minor league talents and free agents – that will fill up the final list of nations that will be in the fields of Chavez Ravine in July 2028, ready to play with all their heart, courage and will for nation and people, all for the road to a gold medal win in the spot wherein just 4 decades prior the sport’s then next generation played with their best.

Without any doubt, the Olympics, that once in some points in history the highest pinnacle for our sport, will soon be once again the highest goal, higher than the WBC and the Premier12, and more important than a league championship, for many of the sport’s best players of today and the up and coming young talent that will grace this sport in the years before its definite return in Los Angeles, one event worthy for the fans to get ready for and one event that will once more leave a legacy to the sport at large.

This is the 2nd year since the official confirmation that our sport is finally back on track in the Olympics and indeed now that we are just almost 2 and a half years left before the gates of Dodger Stadium throw open to the thousands of watching fans from across the globe, together as one, let us continue onwards this what has become a four year journey after the Olympics baseball games in Japan towards what will be a great time for our sport across the world.

    For Glory

    John
