Let’s grade the last five Los Angeles Chargers first round picks. We’re not going to talk about Marian Hampton just too early in his career. So, we’re going to go back to the fifth overall pick in the 2024 draft where they selected Joe Alt, the offensive tackle out of Notre Dame. I’m going to give this pick an A. Alt was one of the best offensive lineman in the NFL last year as a rookie looking like a true cornerstone offensive tackle to help protect Justin Herbert. I don’t know if this is recency bias, but I’m going to give Quinton Johnston, the 21st overall pick in the 2023 draft, AC. It’s been definitely positive in year number three. Over 500 yards so far this year. It’s an okay pick. Let me know if that’s too generous though. They selected an offensive lineman again in the first round in 20122. Zion Johnson out of Boston College. I’m giving this one a D. They selected Johnson over guys like Tyler Linderbomb and Tyler Smith. And I’m not sure if he’s going to be on this team for the foreseeable future either, but it’s a lot better for what they did during the 2021 draft. They selected Rashawn Slater, the offensive tackle out of Northwestern with the 13th overall pick. I’m giving this one an A, but still a franchise offensive tackle. And this team is really invested in its offensive line after selecting Justin Herbert, who I may be generous to here, but I’m going to give their pick at number six an A+. Not a lot of people thought Justin Herbert was going to be what he is today. People thought he was way too volatile of a prospect, and he’s been a top 10 quarterback ever since he’s been drafted. Still just 27 years old. They also had two first rounders in 2020. They selected Kenneth Murray, the linebacker. He was a fine linebacker for them across four years. For this pick specifically, it wasn’t great. Going to give it a C minus. So yeah, a bonus pick for you guys. and let me know what you agree or disagree with.

  18. I'm I alone, or does anyone else think that the Chargers have one of the best quarterback lines in the NFL since the Superbowl days? Dan Fouts, Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, and now Justin Herbert are maybe not as good as some teams, but I would bet at least 22 other NFL teams would gladly trade with them.

  25. Herbert is a D he was supposed to be the next big thing and has chocked and had his worst games when the lights are brightest he’s a white Dak Prescott 😂 or a young Kirk cousins 😂 dont @meh to all the d riders that r gunna say im hating 😂
