The issue with Levine is his contract not his ability. 47 mil this year and 48 mil next year is way too much for what he brings to the table
Tier 2 info?
Please god
He’s a name but I don’t see how this makes the team better.
Don’t even know what the package would have to look like tbh. Kuzma and Myles? Sounds absurd
The guy makes 47 million this year and 49 million next season. Would ruin a cap situation which already features Dame’s dead salary. Why would we opt into a contract like that when it doesn’t even get us closer to having cap space to build around Giannis?
I’m skeptical of Lavine being a winning player but I could be wrong
People will hate this because his defense is bad but the Bucks need to make some sort of swing. It’s clear they need a larger wing who can score and the hope would be Giannis elevates Lavine.
Khris would probably be viewed as a losing player if he was the main option his whole career like Lavine. It’s 100% a gamble, but what other choice do the bucks have? A trade for just more role players isn’t the answer unfortunately in my opinion.
I wasn’t taking it seriously at first, but you’re telling me that Kuzma and Vivek both like volleyball?? Might be something to this after all /s
I dunno about this one. One of the teams largest issues, if not the largest, is their inability to effectively guard athletic wings. Besides Giannis Kuzma is the only player with the size and athleticism to do so. The offense would no doubt improve with Lavine on the floor but the team would get eaten alive on defense.
Not to mention they’d be in a deeper level of cap hell with Lavine’s massive contract
LaVine is not a winning player
You know that scene in Requiem for a Dream where Jared Leto shoots heroin into his ghastly infected injection site? That’s what this reminds me of.
Is he a great defender or rebounder
The issue with him is he’s making like $47 million and bucks don’t have a lot of higher contracts to make it work. They’d have to trade Bobby and kuzma plus change. It would work with Cole Anthony included as well. But does that actually help the team? Bucks are already very short with defensive wings and LaVine is for scoring only. LaVine also is no stranger to missing time with injuries. Then you run into the situation the bucks were supposedly trying to get away from, which is having all your money tied up into a couple guys and then vet mins everywhere else (implying very little depth).
Bucks need someone who can be a solidified second option and Lavine can be that guy, Rollins has been fantastic and is still improving game to game but it’s a lot to ask of him to step into that role.
For the match of Kuz, Bobby and TP though you’re basically leaving Sims to pick up second unit responsibility and having your bench bench be:
– AJ
– GTJ
– Sims
– Anthony
– Harris | Ajax
Which is rough, and you probably have to pray the buyouts on big men are ok to good
Give me kuzma for derozan and Keon Ellis please lol
sure trade for an all time empty stats guy lmao. Defense would get even worse!
Bobby Kuz and KPJ for Lavine and Ellis is the only way I would do it Ellis has to be in the deal. Sims would be your full time backup big though which would be rough at times but it’s already rough with Bob maybe get a backup forward on the buyout market.
Everyone has pretty much touched on it, but his defense is atrocious. He’s the worst defensive starter on a horrible defensive team. It’s also never good when there’s a running joke that your team only wins when he sits out.
Economically it is impossible to balance. Too many players would have to be moved to square it.
Too much $. I don’t mind it, though
Yes we’ll loose Bp n kuz but then our 3n 4 literally non existent
Me no like. Bucks can do better
Nooooooooo why take on that contract for someone who when on the floor is great, but is an athletic freak that has hit a plateau or at least is the age athletic freaks his size start to break down.
If we need offense for when Giannis is out this isn’t it, it’s like getting past prime dame and being surprised at the result.
Oh god, for 47/49 milion in next 2 years this is not worth it. Rather go MPJ or some cheap available 3nd wings.
Bucks are already great offense with Giannis on the floor and that is without KPJ who will only boost the offense when he comes back.
They need defense and rebounding which LaVine does not provide.
Brother what are we doing
Team needs defense, so I hope they don’t do this.
Listen, I’m a Knicks fan that’s loved the Bucks for awhile now, and I’m married to a Kings fan – I really don’t think you want LaVine.
On paper it makes sense, but dude is one of the most inconsistent players I’ve ever watched. He is also one of the most frustrating on defense I’ve ever witnessed; like he’s long and fast and you’d expect him to at least be decent, but the effort is just not there. Like he is the type of dude that will score 30 in a WIN for the Kings and you look and he’s like -5 BPM.
Now, not to completely shit on the dude – again, he has his value; and when he goes off, he’s incredible – but I just don’t see him as your answer with the lack of consistency + holes on defense. I understand you want to risk it all to ensure you keep Giannis, and I would too, but I’d look literally anywhere else. Just my take
