Mailloux will take time. He was never anticipated to step in game 1 and be the guy they expect him to be in a few years.
Also i know the Habs have had some injuries, but them signing texier shows they still need help in their bottom 6 even with the acquisition of bolduc.
They’ll both be fine. Mailloux finally had a decent game last time and he will continue to improve as his confidence increases.
It was always stupid to make determinations on this trade after 5 games. Yes Mailloux still hasn’t been good but defenseman usually take awhile to develop unless they’re guys like Makar or Schaeffer. Give him a little time and I also think people need to temper expectations. I don’t think Army expects Mailloux to come in here and be a #1-3 defenseman. If he can be #4-5 guy and our PP specialist I think that’s a win. #3 would be his best-case scenario ceiling
Drives me nuts seeing casual fans bashing Armstrong and Mallioux. I was upset we lost Bolduc but know that we won’t know how the trade pans out until at least 2028. Both players aren’t at their peak.
I really don’t like the direct comparison because D men take more time. I didn’t like the trade and still don’t because Armstrong burned the team’s best trade asset in years on a lottery ticket.
I would have rather traded Bolduc and a pick or 2 for proven talent.
