I find it interesting that there was an earlier report by Scotto today that the Nets had interest in Anferenee Simons

Could a Simons/Claxton swap be on the table? They make similar amounts (25.4m vs 27.7m)

  1. Why would the Nets add another Cam Thomas type player along with the massive glut of guards they drafted I wonder, I guess talent is talent when you’re that bereft but it doesn’t make much sense to me

  2. None of those players are good solutions for the Celtics

I will always love Timelord though

  3. I don’t know why the Nets would do it, but I’d love a Simons for Claxton swap. I also was looking at shared agents among front offices and Vucevic could also make sense as a short term solution. He solves rebounding issues, is a good passer, and is older and Chicago has been slipping since their hot start. There’s no way he’s part of their long term plans with Giddey and Buzelis

The important thing is he and Claxton are always healthy, which makes them more lucrative targets than much more expensive guys or guys who are always hurt (or both) like the other guys on this list

I wouldn’t mind Vucevic as a guy who fills the C depth need and can give you 15/10 (replacing the Simons scoring) while we maybe wait a year for the longer term solution

  4. Bring back our alley oop king. I know his knees are bad, but hes still a solid defender and vibes with Tatum+Brown well.

  5. Sabonis, Vucevic, and Claxton are the only ones I’ve seen that I’d be interested in

Time lord was always hurt. Not something I’d be excited to bring back. AD for the same reason.

Nurkic is a bit off brand for the Cs, and I don’t know shit about Isaac or Richards.

  6. No. Money doesn’t work, not in terms of trade rules but in terms of 2nd apron/tax objectives

  7. Rob was my favorite player when he was here, so I would love to see him back and hopefully healthy

  8. I know the downvotes that’ll come… White and our 1st for AD is a general trade structure that could work and give us an all time great front court. The financials work pretty easy if a) we can dump Simons to a cap space team or b) the mavs would take Simons too

  9. If we trade for ad or sabonis I might have to root for another team. That’s just financially irresponsible. U can’t build around 3 stars anymore. That sh!t is dead. Cheap depth and making good draft picks is the way to go.. I’m all good with gutting our depth.. and I really don’t want to give up a 1st in this draft for a short term solution at center. That’s my 2 cents. Take your time and build the team up through development. U can make some acquisitions as well but don’t give up 2 many assets to do so. Picks and young cheap talent is the way to go in the new 2nd apron era

  10. I’d do Vuc for Simons, but not sure why Chicago would. He makes $6.3M less than Simons and plays a position of need for us. It also gets us within reach of getting under the tax by trading off some minimum guys at the deadline

  11. I’d be happy with a depth piece and keeping Queta as a starter. If we can improve over Neemty that’s great too But the current rotation is super thin

  12. Man I just hope its anyone but AD, guy refuses to play the 5, his salary would make it impossible to build a team below the apron, and even if he is just 32, he is still too injury prone, we are not getting 2020 AD or anything close, Vuc or Claxton are way better options than AD

Whenever I’m day dreaming about Rob Will coming back to the C’s healthy

  14. As a backup big on a vet min?? Timelord come on down.

Everyone else on the list is too expensive/not a good fit. AD is obviously superior to all the other names but given his age and inability to stay healthy (I feel like he’d play only slightly more than rob but be tens of millions more expensive) I don’t think it’s reasonable why we should be the team to give him that hundreds of millions extension to sit on the bench he’ll be looking for.

Sabonis is a traffic cone, can’t shoot outside of just under the rim, and most importantly for those saying we’re crazy for not seeing how great he’d be on the Celtics, we literally never ask our bigs to do any of what sabonis does. He would be an awful, awful fit. He needs to go to GSW. He’d be perfect in that style of offense.

I don’t know much about Claxton tbh. He torched us last game, but was ass the game before that. I find it hard to believe that the nets would use all five of their picks, mostly on guards this last off-season and then trade their actually competent center for another shot chucking no defense not a great passing guard. They literally refused to pay cam Thomas over the summer. So I’m not buying that “nets have shown interest in ant” story at all.

    Dear god no on Vuc.

  15. It’s the contract that mostly bugs me.

Everything else might be a by-product of being in a losing situation.

  16. Wrong sub but I genuinely think an Anthony Davis for tre young would be the funniest trade ever that would actually make both teams better. Dallas ends up with tre young and max Christie for Luka doncic after years of giving Atlanta shit for not taking Luka and Atlanta ends up with another elite lengthy defender (when healthy).

  17. Domaantas has always seemed interesting

Dallas trading AD after fucking over there system for AD, would be pretty fricken funny. 😂 That and their Thompson situation. CLOWNS 😂
