The Owner of The New York Yankees Just Disrespected His Own Fans

There’s not really a lot of offseason activity going on right now that I could talk about. Sure, there was just the Sunny Gray trade, but frankly, this just seems like another instance of a good exchange between two clubs with both winning in one way or another. That’s why today I wanted to discuss something a little different, which is the current Yankee owner, Hal Steinbrer, claiming that it’s not fair to assume that his team makes money. in quotes that were published at Twitter via Brian Hul. Steinbrer said, “I don’t want to get into it, but that’s not a fair statement in regards to believing New York actually makes a profit. Everybody wants to talk about revenues. They need to talk about our expenses, including the $100 million expense to the city of New York that we have to pay every February 1st, including the COVID year. It all adds up in a hurry.” I will just never understand why owners do this. What’s the point of trying to convince your average everyday fans that the most valuable franchise in Major League Baseball, per Forbes, at 8.2 2 billion. You heard that right, with a B, doesn’t overall make a profit from their properties. By the way, that’s almost a billion and a half more in total valuation than the next closest being the Dodgers. And when I say profit, keep in mind, I don’t just mean from fans coming into their stadium. There’s TV, radio, and internet content deals, advertisements, various revenue sharing agreements. There’s basically a thousand different ways the Yankee brand makes Deniero. and it just doesn’t seem possible for all of this not to come out somewhere in the green for the Steinbrer family. In fact, if that wasn’t the case, why isn’t he rushing to pursue a sale of the team? What’s even more confusing to me is that he didn’t even have a target on his back when it comes to expenditures. The dude is running one of the highest payrolls year in and year out routinely. I don’t think anybody outside of the most pessimistic diehard fans think he’s cheap. with more of the general frustration in their fan base directed at management and front office concerns. He’s seemingly calling undue negative attention onto himself for a little reason here. A guy that I’m generally not too big of a fan of, Ken Rosenthal, went on to file territory to discuss the situation and made what I would consider to be a really good point, which is that if this is indeed true, open the books, make your revenues public, let everybody see how unprofitable the franchise really is. But of course, like every other owner who does this, he’ll never agree to that because this narrative is a simple fiction. To me, this is also downright disrespectful to all the fans that support this team with their money, especially considering the fact that this is a billionaire who has so much money running in his family that many thousands of Yankees fans put together couldn’t come close to equaling the total amount. Trying to convince millions of average people that his most profitable project somehow doesn’t make money. This just irritated me to the point where I thought it was worth a short video dunking on this ridiculous notion. This kind of sentiment is what’s going to lead to a lockout next off season, isn’t it? All right, everybody. If you made it this far, I appreciate you watching. And if you did, consider checking out any of these other videos on your screen right now for other content just like this. Also, if you ever see anything you’d like to see me detail in the video, feel free to reach out to my email [email protected]. And if I end up using your idea, I’ll give you a shout out. Thanks for watching. Tong yesterday.

  1. It's like what??? your the NEW YORK YANKEES I would think there making a shit ton of money every year but they don't put it into players and when they do well doesn't pan out very well now does it?

  2. hal just continues to give people ammo to take shots at him with 🤦🏿‍♂️ i mean dude your the owner of the most FAMOUS TEAM IN BASEBALL HISTORY. YOUR MAKING A PROFIT dude. 😐

  3. “Including the covid year” lmao feb 1st 2020 the pandemic was what 7 days old at that point. The profit loses hadn’t even taken place at that point. I’d be more curious if they had to pay that much on feb 1st 2021 after a year of profit loses.

  4. Oh no, the guy with $1.6 billion in cash claims his $8 billion valued team that pulls in over $700 mil a year in gross income is somehow losing money.

If you're somehow getting a franchise like the NEW YORK FREAKING YANKEES to lose money? Either you're incredibly bad at business, or I think the IRS needs to take a look at what's cooking in your books.

  5. I'm a Yankees fan and this video is 100% accurate. Of course he makes money. He's not in the business of "just getting by". This channel is one of the best on YouTube.

  6. A weird thing to say considering the team is worth a lot. Either the family is terrible at managing a baseball team and its operations, or the family spends a lot, or maybe there’s money laundering going on, or maybe they aren’t keeping most of the profits and see it as a “bad” thing. Greed might be what he’s talking about, but he’s not gonna say it out loud.

  7. If you just use the quote and no name most people will think its Bob Nutting or Phil Castellini would say about their team but then adding it was from the yankees is just absurd, he doesn't any random team like the rays or rockies he owns the freaking YANKEES.

  8. We all know why he saying these comments. He wants to save face when he starts penny pinching in the future. Meanwhile the dodgers are spending, getting success, making money, and their fans love it. Their ownership would never say something as stupid or tone deaf. No one is gonna cry any crocodile tears for a billionaire making 10s of millions in profit instead 100s of millions (while the valuation of the Yankees continue to skyrocket btw)

  9. 0:49 If you're going to trust this article as a source for the Yankees value you also have to trust where it says right underneath that they had an operational loss of 57 million meaning they, by definition, were not profitable

  10. Hal, Cashman and Boone continue to open their mouths and say the stupidest sh**. They’ve become experts at pissing off their fans. Can Jennifer or Jessica step in and run the team?

  11. You know who this is the most insulting to? George. I'm sure he considered it his privilege to own the Yankees and flaunt his wealth over everyone. Could you ever imagine him complaining about paying the city for Yankee stadium?

  12. If Hal wants to cry about money, then why not callout Cashman for give a QO to Grisham. I did not hear Hal cry when the Yankees used public money to pay for Overpriced Stadium. His father was going to let his son in law run the team before divorcing his daughter.

  13. The fans hate the players. The fans hate the fans. The players hate the fans. The owner hates the players. And now the owner hates the fans.

Everyone hates each other in Yankee land 😂

  14. Yup as a yankee fan… once he said "we have expenses"..he lost me….U HAVE BILLIONS U RAT FACE FUCK…. SPEND $$…GET RINGS AND STOP EMBARRASSING YOUR FATHER OR WE WILL BOO U OUT OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM… COUNT UR GOD DAMN DAYS HAL… throws phone into abyss

  15. Literally ONE more failed season and he’ll have tied the yanks longest WS drought since their first ever WS championship. Thats embarrassing, but doing so without even winning a single WS at any point? Pathetic
