It’s so over for the Oilers
I don’t know. I don’t have any answers. As I said, what am I supposed to say at this point? How exactly do I repackage this video for the 12 14th time in the 3 years I’ve been covering hockey here on YouTube. And yes, believe it or not, our first video here was in October of 2022. In that time, the Edmonton Oilers with arguably the greatest hockey player of his generation and two of the best players in the league are still suffering from the exact same issue. And before you say goalending, I mean, yes, but we’ll talk about the goals tonight. It’s everything on that end of the puck. And the Oilers can apparently no longer score their way out of trouble. They lost 83 to a good Dallas Stars team. Steuart Skinner let in four goals on eight shots. But before we get there, I do want to recognize the young man in Edmonton, Connor Clattenburg. He got his first NHL goal. And it’s got to suck when you score your first one. The team’s down 4 nothing. But shout out to the guys on ice for at least celebrating. He’ll never forget that. Even though obviously it’s a scary time for the Oilers. But you know what? Let’s do this rapid fire cuz we got eight goals to go through. Number one, Jamie Ben. He gets lost in transition. Bousard doesn’t play well behind the net. Mio Pani is thus to me anyway out of position. He’s trying to watch the pass back to the blue line when there’s a bigger threat right on the doorstep. What a player honestly just a pure hockey player Jamie Ben is four games back. Then just over halfway through the first goal two on the PP. Puck is loose in front. No one clears it. Rupe hints. Goal three. Both a bad line change by the Oilers and a suboptimal pinch by Kulak who loses the puck battle twoon-one. Bastion keeps 3 nothing. But don’t worry, we got one more before the end of the period. Love how this one starts. The Oilers have it in their own zone. They dump it into the neutral zone where it’s recovered by the Stars. Really fascinating defensive scheme by the Oilers here. Ekholm slides to try to cut off the pass. Don’t hate it, but Bousard is left to the outside doing nothing. McDavid does not look engaged whatsoever. The puck bounces over his stick to make it worse, even when he is kind of in the lane. And that would be 4 nothing. That’s when we get the goalie pull. And who do you blame for that? Like maybe you want Skinner to get one of those, but just defensive breakdown. So many in the first period leading to extremely high danger chances. Anyway, next period, Stars get a five on three. I don’t want to be too critical here. Ecom is worried about the crashing player, but they leave Robertson wide open back door after he had just missed a shot barely. And again, I’m just watching these goals back. The sixth one. Tell me if you see something similar. Another Stars player on the back door on the power play. Bing, bang, boom. Sixth one. It It honestly is funny. Like this isn’t a staged reaction. When I played the video and saw it happen again. Anyway, for the seventh one, did I miss? I don’t know. I don’t know if I missed one. The stars just again another puck battle one in front. Then a tough look for Dryside on the last one. He’s way too casual retrieving a puck behind the net. Goes out front. Bastion scores the eighth. And what a disaster. Obviously people are going to see the 8 to3 score. They’re going to say, “Oh, Steuart Skinner special.” Like, what are we doing here? What is going on? I don’t know why Paul Coffee left his position as defensive coach. But was he holding the team together? Just was he like Space Jam style giving his soul to the players before each game? I don’t know. This Oilers team is bad. Like really bad. I don’t know, man. I don’t know. Let me know what you guys think. Paul, can you suit up still, buddy? What’s going on?
We talk the woes of the Edmonton Oilers after their 8 goal drumming in today’s NHL hockey video.

You could see it in the post season, camera's in the Panthers locker room, high fives, smokin and jokin, guys havin' fun. Edmonton? No one speaks before McJesus opens his mouth, walking on eggshells. McDavid is awful in the dressing room, not a leader.
The criticism of Mangiapane is entirely unwarranted. As a winger in that situation, his role is to guard the left d-man. That's what he was doing. He can't be expected to know that someone else was going to fail in their job and therefore help out. It doesn't matter if the guy coming from behind the net is "more dangerous". If you went by that logic, you'd have guys double teamed all the time, leaving other players wide open. Everyone has a job to out there, and the guy coming from behind the net was Bouchard's guy, period, end of story. Imagine if Mangiapane was down there guarding the post, and the puck went back to the point, you'd be criticising him for that (and rightly so). So according to your logic, he can't win. Either he abandons the guy he's supposed to be covering and gets blamed for that, or covers the guy he's supposed to and gets blamed for not helping Bouchard out. Honestly, this sounds like commentary from someone who's never played hockey before. I suspect that's not actually the case, and come to think of it, I play hockey with a plenty of guys who also seem to have never played hockey before. 😄
I know everyone keep talking about goaltending, but they are unbearable to watch as a whole. You can’t find anyone protecting the house nor helping with rebounds. In our house we have been fan of 97 for a while but he doesn’t even look like he wants to be there. Now it made sense why he only signed a two years contract. He is leaving right after that. And I don’t blame him if he decides to move on. I truly hope they turn things around but the way they are playing I doubt it.
Douchard sux
Sorry this isnt possible. I was told they would make it back to the cup again and dominate…because the last 2 years were indicators of how great they are…..by going to the finals and losing……….
These videos should always include how much money the folks on the D-core make. Because for what they are being paid…
get rid of Bouchard
I remember your making this exact video at this time last year and they made it to the Stanley Cup final. Might want to slow your roll.
They are finding it hard to get up for these games, they just want the playoffs to get another shot at the cup, if they play like this they won’t even make the playoffs.
You've been covering hockey for all of three years…
You guys are overreacting. Oilers is a playoffs team not a regular season team to watch.
Defense, defense, defense. They are so fixated on offense. You control the game when you are the superior defensive team.
It’s time that Bowman is let go and they bring in another GM who has a better connection with the players and what type of players the Oilers need. Just because someone might be a great player they need to be the right fit for the Oilers core players. And letting players like Perry and that go to other places rather than sign them as they are a good fit . Is why I think it’s time that Bowman goes.
Gotta love the galaxy brain move of a defense needy team getting the deal of the century with their franchise savior and then immediately pivoting within the same 6 hours to investing that money into another offensive minded defenseman.
To be clear, in a vacuum i dont think the Walman deal is particularly bad but when put into context of the Oilers who already had 20m+ in dmen who don't do much in the defensive zone adding another 7m to that while your best defensive minded dman is aging out is just not the move
2 long runs in a row has to affect the team… florida has played more games in the last 3 years but they have 2 cups for motivation
Hey bud! How's your Rangers? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 know your role and shut your mouth
It's a psy op by oilers players to get rid of skinner
No goalie will succeed consistently with this team. Skinner started off well here, then the defence and its inconsistency, ruined his focus. Same goes for Scrivens, Talbot, Koskinen, Dubnyk, etc. Skinner with his flaws was a calder finalist, if this was any other team he would have gotten better, but since the oilers don't know how to develop players his development stagnated. I hope Skinner leaves this sinking ship and finally realizes the potential he had in his rookie season. These fans deserve another decade of darkness for what they did to him and his family
Coffey left because he DID NOT WANT TO COACH ANYMORE. He said that last year but stayed.
The Oilers are sure Leafin' it a lot lately.
Oilers lost faith in their goaltending a long time ago
Are we gonna see a monster trade McDavid for Matthew's. 🎉
they are 2 points from a playoff spot. It is nowhere near over. Stop the BS clickbait posts
McDavid follows the puck constantly and is always looking for opportunities for a quick rush. I agree that he’s great at that, but it seems like the Oilers don’t have the authority to make him focus on his defensive responsibilities as well.
When Bouchard is your #1 D man whos a forward trying to play D, doesnt matter who's in net
This team always sucks at the beginning of the year , this is nothing new , they have a very similar record to what they had the last 2 years at this time and look where they went
It's november. All of these panic videos are just pathetic.
All you need to know about the Oilers is that Ekblad and Forsling combined make only 1.5 million or so more than Bouchard alone.
My oilers suck in the beginning of the season and get blown out by a jets team thats red hot but my oilers make it further then them in the playoffs even tho they were playing like garbage at the end of the season. So avalanche blows out my oilers and my oilers continue to stink. I would love to see my trash oilers make it futher then avalanche now lol
McDavid will be a Ranger by next year. The Rangers are just as bad as Edmonton. Bettman knows that having a big market team like NY on such a long cup drought is detrimental to the league. They tried to help with the Lafreniere and Kakko picks back to back but that experiment failed. Imagine McDavid, McKenna, and Miller on the same team. Mika and Panarin will be going the other way along with future firsts and possibly a prospect like Othmann.
The fact they lost in the Finals twice in a row and didn't replace their goalies is absolute stupidity and mismanagement.
I was telling all of my hockey friends that man ( Conner McDavid ) is wasting his time staying with the oilers. They said I was crazy….. oh how the turns have tabled.
The Oilers will get a return for McDavid that will basically turn their rebuild into a two year process if they do it properly.
Just as an example, Montreal has the assests and would pay a premium for him. I dont know what it would take, but Montreal could send Beck, Reinbacher, Maybe Dach, or Kapanen, Struble and a couple of 1st. Oilers get both offense and defense who can start contributing next year, plus some picks. They also clear up a bunch of cap space to work on getting a goalie and another vet.
Lol last year they had to score 5 goals to win. This year you need 7 goals to win considering the bad goaltending and shit defense. . Sorry MCD Bowman could not help you. Was fun hope to see you win elsewhere
All we need is skinner for maybe like Logan Thompson and bouch, ohhh Bouch. This guy, this 10.5M dollar guy needs to leave immediately. Get Stan bowman out
