The Vancouver Canucks are VERY confusing…

All right, listen. I have a question for you all. What are the Vancouver Conucks? Because I sure as hell don’t know. Seriously, man. The amount of ups and downs that this team has taken us on throughout this season has been insane. Even this game, it was a very fun game to watch between the Vancouver Conucks, Anaheim Ducks. You’re fresh off of easily one of the worst games this team has played in the past 5 years against the Calgary Flames. And I didn’t make a video on it. The Conucks took the night off, so I decided why not? I’ll take the night off as well. It felt like a really low point for this franchise. And in between that game and this one tonight, the Conucks took center stage for news and speculation around the NHL. It was a pretty nightmarish couple of days because the Conucks all of a sudden allegedly have everyone up for sale. The whole team is getting traded. All the veterans were going for McKenna, the first overall pick, which don’t get me wrong, that would be very nice. But that being said, overall, it’s been a wild couple of days. And it didn’t help that Kevin Lankin wasn’t coming on the trip today. So the Canucks are without their top two goalenders. But I have to hand it to Nikita Tolo Pilo. He stepped in today healthy for the first time ever since training camp and he held one of the hottest offensive teams in the NHL at bay. He made some great saves to keep the Vancouver Conucks in this one. This was a trackmeat of a game. Both teams just high-flying offense, very little defensive zone coverage. I think there were about four or five breakaways, six or seven posts, and it was just a very exciting game to watch. The Anaheim Ducks have transformed into a very good team, and they’re going to be a threat for years to come. Let’s talk about this game, though. Starting off with the first period of play. Early on, it’s Brock Besser with his first of about 20 chances in this game. Breakaway turned aside by Morazzic. The Abby line gets reunited and they go to work early, though. It’s Archie Baines over to Marcus Person. He has a shot and off the boards. Lenus Carlson is there to pick it up and put it into the back of the net. He’s on a heater right now. Third goal in his last six games. Really liked what I’ve seen from him. One- nothing Conucks. Vancouver then to the power play. Evander Kane with a shot. Fly by screen from Carlson. Screens Morazzic. It goes off the post and in and it’s a two nothing game. In the second period, Canucks take a costly penalty. Jackson Lome completely unmarked in the slot. He walks in, steps into this one, and beats Toolo. Look, I’m happy they won, but they have to figure out the defensive coverage because right now they look lost in their own zone. The Ducks, though, also giving up a lot of chances. Quinn Hughes with a good look here. And then Brock Besser finds Connor Garland, who makes a sweet move around a defender and beats Morazzic backhand. 3-1 game. Evander Kane hit a post and then the Conucks just had their lead evaporate. Tail end of a penalty, scramble in front. No one knows their assignment or where they have to be and the puck is in the back of our net. And then here Kane loses the puck in the offensive zone. Meyers doesn’t take the pass. Easy goal for McTavish. 33 heading into the third period of play. Kefir Sherwood finds himself on a short-handed breakaway. He hits the post though and Camp can’t steer in the rebound. Hugh sets up De Brusk for a glorious chance, but it’s a good save from Morazzic. It comes down to the wire as Phil Heronic here throws one in front and it’s always the most unexpected ones. It goes off of a duck and pinballs its way into the back of the net. Sone with the last touch. 4-3 Canucks. They get the empty net. It’s Drew O’ Conor here who buries it. 53 Canucks. The Ducks get one with about 5 seconds to go, but it’s too little too late. Canucks escape with the victory 1 and0 on the road trip. And yeah, they won. I’ll reserve any sort of excitement until they build up some momentum. If they start to string some wins together, then I can start to give this team some props. I just want to see a couple of complete games. And it starts with building on this win on Friday against the San Jose Sharks. Give me your thoughts on this game in the comments section down below. Your thoughts overall on this team. Subscribe if you’re new. I’ll see you in the next one. Peace out and take care.

the Vancouver Canucks beat the Anaheim Ducks 5-4 in a very entertaining game. Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson

  1. how many different players took time off for personal reasons this year? boeser, lankinen, demko, hughes? im sure im missing some. Is this code for injured>?

  2. "What are the Vancouver Canucks?"

The answer is the same as it's always been.

They are a middling team without any measurable sustained/sustainable success in their entire history.

  3. 30+ year long fan and to this day I can't figure out why we can't just operate the boom-bust legacy of most NHL teams.

We're always trying to beat off injuries, random star slumps, and extremely questionable asset management.

It's emotionally draining being a fan a lot of the time.

  4. They are a team that will have a hope of the playoffs, so they will buy at the Deadline, and then either miss by a few points or, be competitive in the first round, reinforcing a mistaken belief and end up with a shitty first round pick. You know, the usual, this is just the same as every other year.

  5. I had to stop the video after the first sentence. The YouTube rhetoric regarding the Canucks is ridiculous, and this is a prime example.

Over the past few years the Canucks have made significant roster changes. Everyone who has played a team sport knows that significant roster, staff, & management changes rarely result in an immediate success story.

Add to this the ridiculous schedule that teams are dealing with, due to the Olympics, and one cannot expect a "typical" season for any team. So many back-to-back games causes more player injuries & burn-outs. Look at Winnipeg. Not exactly League/Conference/Division leaders, yet, would normally be so. Avalanche seem to be the only team coping well with the schedule, yet, time will tell.

I'm not suggesting that management has made all of the right moves; re-signing Demko to ridiculous money rather than letting him go and signing Silovs doesn't seem like a good move, for instance, nor did choosing Myers over Zadorov.

I think that Rutherford, et al, should stop listening to the noise from the ever-whining critics & hold their course this season. These same critics just lower morale and most of them haven't a clue. Maybe it is the technology of the day that is turning people into impatient, demanding, "sofa managers".

  6. Ducks toyed with them, and this is just the start of their years-long run. You get the feeling that Tocc knew what he was doing.
At least Garland's trade value went up.

  7. If we trade all of our actual good, contributing players I'm gonna lose it. Keep Sherwood. He's one of the only physical guys on our team. I could go either way on Kane honestly. Don't trade our prospects.
I also don't think we need to get younger. We need to get BETTER lol. Florida avg age is 29.6, we are avg 27. Age isn't the issue. Frankly, we could use some older veterans.

  8. This game was great other then some small mistakes it was i think one of the better games if they played like how they did in this with also the additions of lanks and Demer then by all means this is a good team
