Best Of | Juan Soto 2025 Part 1
He hits one up the middle. A base hit for Sodto in his first Mets at bat. So Valdez through the sinker. Sodto hit a ground ball but too hard for Rogers to get to. And the Mets have a one out base run. So quick. Slightly open stance, folks. And I’ve watched him take BP. He’s got no extra movement on his takeback. And we’re going to show you as this this game progresses and as the season progresses. Mets two Astros nothing top three. Two outs. Base is clear. Here is number 22 Wto. And the pitch swing and a high drive right field toward the wall. Gone off the facing of the second deck in right. Juan Sodto’s first home run as a New York Met. It is three nothing New York in the top of the third. A Sodto trot here in Houston. And what a moment. The first long ball in a Mets uniform amid the booze here in Houston. Line off the glove of Akunia into right field. Sodto gears up for the throw home and it is in time. He got him. Juan Sto throws on Nick Castanos at the plate to keep this game tied. gets this one of the air to deep left center field. Back in the gap, takes a look and it’s out of here. One SO’s first City Field home run as a Met. All you have to do is flip the calendar page to the month of May. And Sodto goes deep in flushing. He’s been hitting a lot of the fly balls to left field on that same pitch, just getting under it. This one he did not. Yeah, he got the barrel on it. And he flies this one low to left center field. Back at the gap goes Thomas near the wall. It’s out of here. Second of the day for Juan Sodto. He’s broken the dam and the waters flowing through. Two home runs in the identical spot in backto back at bats. And once again, Sodto gets the Mets back within a run. Same pitch, same spot. Bell tie. He’s starting to zero in and Sodto gets under one to deep center field. Back goes Thomas to the warning track near the wall and it’s out of hand. Juan Sodto hits it over the 25 ft yellow line in center field for his sixth home run of the year. And the Mets strike first in the sixth inning. It’s one- nothing New York. That ball just kept on carrying and carrying. Great back spin by Sodto. his sixth home run and the Mets grab the lead. And Juan hits one out to left field. That’s it. Well, back goes Guriel. Takes a look and it’s out of here. Sodto with his second of the game. A line drive the other way for his seventh home run of the year. His second two home run game against the Diamondbacks in the last 10 days. And the Mets now have a four nothing lead in the eighth. So they left the left-hander in to face Sodto and Sodto took him deep. Perfect. Didn’t over swing the 1-1. That’s lined in the air toward right. Sodto going over toward the track. Reaches up and makes the catch high over his hat and slows down right in front of that Yankee bullpen. That catch retires the side. He went back and over at the last second. The glove shot up and he snapped that ball out of the air. Here’s the 10. The runner goes from first and a liner in the air to right. Sodto is there. Makes the catch. His throw comes into first, but digging for the plate as the runner is safe at first is Tioscar Hernandez and he scores. And the Mets are going to challenge the play at first base because to the naked eye call first place. They thought Sto got the throw there in time. It looked like he did on replay. Here’s the call. Have to review call is overturn. The problem is they get blown out a lot. Yes, they do. Not tonight though. This one’s hit toward right center. Soda got a bad break on it, but N makes up for it and makes the grab. Sodto took a too shallow angle to the ball. Had to make the adjustment and he makes a terrific play to keep that ball from going up the gap. Two two coming and Smith lifts one down the right field line. Sodto coming over near the sidewall, reaches and did he get it? He got it. Oh wow, what a play. Sodto wasn’t even sure he had it. He reached across the sidewall, leaned in as far as he could, and somehow plucked that baseball. What a play. Terrific play. Oh, there’s a quick look right before just when he was ready to cross the foul line. They’re doing the uh the bottle flip trying to get it to land on its bottom with just a little bit of water in it. That’s a hard thing to do. I’ve never tried it. You can see how hard it is. These are trained professionals. And Ludismus is down with a slider and it’s three and one with Lindor waiting on deck. Oh, that’s great. We’re going to inset that cuz you don’t want to miss any of the action with the water bottle on the top step. I mean, we can multitask here. Ball game. Bottle flip. Oh, there you go. Was it Soda who got it? It was. Of course it was. Of course. Of course it was. And the first try. No doubt about it. When you got mad skills, sometimes they translate. Here we go. Here’s here’s the instant replay. Uhhuh. Look at that. He’s telling he’s just saying that’s why they pay me the big bucks, guys. That’s lined in the right center. A base hit and that’ll tie up the game. Billyards in to score trying for two now. The throw to second base by Sodto and he’s out. Moniac trying to stretch a single into a double. Sodto couldn’t gun down Freeman earlier in the game, but he makes a perfect throw this time and guns out Moniaak. That’s pulled and that’s a fair ball going off the sidewall. That’s going to bring in a run. Call is in. Stopping a third is Tana and now he’s going to accelerate to the plate and he’s going to be out by a mile. I’m not sure what the thought process was there, but Tana gets gunned down at the plate. Here’s the two- two to Sodto. Ripped to the right side. Base hit going into right field. Juan Sodto collects hit number 1,000 for his major league career. A base hit off of Spencer Strider. Not too out hit for Sodo who points to the Braves and said, “Can we please get that baseball?” Mike Sarbaugh, third base coach, got it from Austin Riley, turns and flips it into the Met dugout. So congratulations to Juan Soda.

Soto was one of the most unluckiest hitters in all of baseball to start the season. And was STILL able to bruteforce his way to a great season. Most normal hitters would have never been able to recover from those levels of unluckyness. I have to say this because moron Mets fans on Twitter and youtube have no idea how good he had to be to overcome all that. Generational indeed and glad to have him
