Game 22 Analytical Recap: Winnipeg Jets Slide Continues in 4-3 Loss to Capitals
November 27, 2025
The Jets won the xG battle again but fell 4-3 to Washington.
Late pushes, sloppy passes, and a top-heavy offense tell the story. Salomonsson’s debut had more highs than lows, and the slide continues.
As always, give me your thoughts and questions!

Oh, for MODs…. I have another post coming out in a few hours today and another one coming out tomorrow. I don’t want to spam you guys haha! Should I just put them in here or you okay with me posting all 3 in a span of 26 hours?
“We need more secondary scoring!”
“PUT TANNER PEARSON ON THE ‘SECOND’ LINE!”
Re: Jets’ rankings relative the rest of the league;
You typically do season long rankings, can you also show us where they fall in the last month? I would like to see not just where they’re at for the year but also whether they’re improving or not.
Ie: they’re 27th in 5v5 xGF but they were dead last for a while. That would indicate to me that over the last month they’re actually quite a bit better than 27th. I’ve long believed that season long stats become less and less relevant as the season progresses and that it’s more useful to look at it from a ‘run rate’ perspective where you can look at not just the more recent results but also how those results compare (good or bad) to their season long counterparts.
Comrie is not Hellebuyck. He was -1.56 GSAX, that’s the difference between a loss and a win right there. Expect more games like this until the Jets’ best player is back.
Otherwise, another datapoint on the trend of “Jets playing well(ish) but losing”. SCIENCE.
