Habs make ANOTHER move… – This is PERFECT
Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens keep cooking as the Habs have made another move, bringing back a player that was on the Montreal Canadiens earlier this season. But the reasoning behind this and the other implications that this has on the Habs bigger picture in the trade market and pushing for a playoff spot this season, well, it gets very interesting when we get down into the details. And we’re going to start here just Montreal claiming Sammy Ble. Samuel Ble, if you want to go back to Samuel, right, the Kebeek, why I get it, too. Elliot Freeman tweeting this out among other people. And so if you guys remember, Sammy Blair was on the Montreal Canadians to start this season. We signed him in the offseason, but with a roster that was pretty loaded, we kind of had no choice but to let him go on waiverss. And I mean, a lot of us wanted to see him maybe get some reps with the team and we had like Joe Valeno there too. We thought maybe Valeno would be the one to go down, but no, it was Sammy Bl. So with Sammy Blle now on waiverss from Toronto, Montreal had a very interesting opportunity because because we had him earlier this season, we can actually claim Sammy Blé and send him straight to Laval and that is one of the biggest things that comes out of this claim because Laval right now, hey, they’ve been doing solid. They are at least I think as of yesterday or maybe anyway, they’re right near the top of their division, the north division and they’ve been rolling. Lorto Fang showing out with 21 points in 18 games. Now, there have been some guys coming up and down. Of course, Angstrom currently with the Habs. Shawn Frell might get a call up at some point. Jared Davidson’s currently up with the Habs. Wah has been up and down. Rhybacker’s been hurt. By the way, shout out to Rhybacker who has the same production as Joshua W in the same amount of games. That’s a good sign for Rybacher. But this team’s been doing great. And if they could add another veteran in Sammy Blade to this roster to go alongside vets like Lauron Doof, Alex Belleil, Lucas Kondata, the captain, it doesn’t only improve Laval, it gives Montreal more and more options for their lineup that is now kind of hurting, right? Where we have Florian, Jackie, Jared Davidson, Joe Valeno, three guys that on opening night would not be on this roster on the team. So, because we can send Sammy Blaze straight back to Laval or actually keep him with Montreal for the next 30 days and just loan him down to Laval when we need to, this opens up a lot of horizons for the Habs. Now, there’s a video coming out later today, depending on when you’re watching this, maybe it’s already out about a trade target that has been brought to the forefront by one Habs insider out of Vancouver. And you know, that is key for Sherwood. And I’ll just I’ll just say that for now. But with Montreal talking here, like Gordon saying, players like Sherwood have become harder and harder to find. you know, Montreal being linked to all of these guys in trades. Check out the video a little later for that. Adding depth to Laval just gives you more options to bring guys up to the main roster or ship them out in trades, right? Because if you look at Laval right now, we know the asking price for so many guys out there like Orion O’Reilly, like whoever else. I mean, he’s always the guy we like to pick. Steven Stamos, like even a Kefir Sherwood. We’re talking pretty high draft picks, like seconds or firsts, or decent prospects. And with Montreal, we have a lot of solid prospects. And one of the names that jumps out to me immediately is this guy right here, Joshua Wah. And he’s a guy that has come up and been sent down. And like we said when he was sent down earlier this week, we said, “Look, this is a guy that just feels like has played his last game for Montreal. So to have him as a potential trade piece, you know, you don’t want to gut your Laval Rocket team, right? This was a team that went super far in the playoffs last year and Pascal Vincent has done an incredible job and can’t use Jeff Gordon. Marty San Louie, they’ve sung his praises as well, especially Marty saying Pascal Vincent’s done such a good job preparing the AHL guys for that NHL jump, that NHL style of play. So, excuse me. Right now, to have that team, if you want to gut it, to just trade for someone, it doesn’t sound like a great idea. But with the addition of Sammy Blle, I’m not saying it makes it any easier to send out some of your young talent, but it makes it more feasible from a roster building perspective. And it also gives you more options if you are Montreal to go out and just like, hey, you know, if we want to let Florian or Jared Davidson simmer in Laval for a little bit, we can afford it now because we have Sammy Blade. So again, besides just the impact on Laval and the trade impact I think this has by adding depth to the Havs organization, it actually adds a nice physical edge to the current lineup and it adds Sammy Blle who’s a guy who’s had some decent NHL seasons. 20 points in 31 games with the Blues in 2223. Now in 40 games with the Rangers that same year wasn’t so great, but just that 20 point and 30 game sample is good. a guy who was dominant for the champion Abbottzford Gucks last year in that AHL final with 19 points in 23 AHL playoff games. He’s a guy that can slide into your lineup right now and make a big impact, right? And look, I like Jared Davidson, but he’s been a bit banged up. I like Florian Jack. He’s actually looked pretty good, but the guy the fact you can add a guy like Sammy Blake for nothing and you can also get 10 full games or 30 days out of him as far as my understanding of the CBA goes point I think 13.20 22 you can get like 10 games or 30 days out of him before you even send him to Laval. It gives Montreal that incredible flexibility and flexibility is something we have been talking about this whole year when it comes to this lineup and Montreal again with so many injured players that hopefully will be getting back in the coming weeks and Kirby Doc should be the first one coming back and then maybe Ghoulie then LA then New Hook as the season progresses to have NHL level or at least fringe NHL level guys who are NHL veterans I should say have that experience available to you is incredibly valuable which is why Montreal went out and claimed Sammy Bla very glad he fell to us. The Habs are making these moves again. Alexander Texier was another similar move that you could see him in the lineup very soon, right? So guys from who have a St. Louis pass, I don’t know what’s going on with it, but hey, it’s working in Montreal. So now when you look at Sammy Bla, you look at Alexandon Texier, you look at the lineup you have, you can afford to send some of these AHL guys back to the AHL to develop and have that more NHL ready roster. So again, it’s kind of twofold here because as Montreal is in an incredible fight for the wild card right now, look at these five teams tied with 27 points. The Islanders are at 28. The Habs are also just one point behind two teams ahead of him in Boston and Ottawa in the Atlantic division. Like it’s an incredibly tight race right now in the Atlantic and in the wild card. So Montreal needs all the wins they can get. And now this claim affords Mart San Louie the ability to switch up the lineup a little bit. Now, is this a groundbreaking change? No, it’s not. It’s not going to It’s not like he’s going to come in and put up a ton of points, but we saw that physical edge that he brought. He can sort of replace a guy like Florian or Jared Davidson if maybe you like Marty’s not so sure if he wants to rely on them. Like we saw just last night against Utah, Jared Davidson and Florian Jackie didn’t play in the third period like at all. So having a guy like Blair who you know is an NHL vet, you can just stick him out there to be physical to forche and you know that he knows what to do AHL champion, right? That works for Montreal and you have the ability to swap in a hardworking more skilled guy like Alexandier without hurting the development of your AHL guys because ultimately this season’s not supposed to be a big-time development season for our AHL guys. Like has it sort of turned into it? Yeah. Seeing Angstrom, seeing Florian, seeing Davidson, seeing W, seeing all these guys come up is a great thing, but you still want to win these games. And I think it affords Montreal a great opportunity. And again, like I said, to add some depth to Laval and to make it a little bit easier to move on from some of these guys without hurting your Laval Rocket team that you still want to be competitive. So, we’re going to see some very interesting things come in here because Sammy Blake clearly like he he’s a decent NHL player. I mean, he had three points in eight games for the Leafs this year. We know he works hard. We know what he’s capable of. I’m excited to see what this former cup champ with the St. Louis Blues can show for us finally in a regular season game. So, I want to hear your thoughts on Sammy Blair. Am I off base with some of this trade stuff? I I I think it’s just these are all just small moves building up to something bigger. And I love that Kent is staying very active. And I think all of these moves have a purpose. And the purpose for this one is very clear. And I’m excited to see what he can do. Leave your thoughts down below. That’ll do it for this episode. Hey, make sure you hit subscribe where the first one’s all this kind of news. And if you want to stay up to date, this is the spot to be. I’ve been your host, Josh Goss.

EDIT: Blais was sent straight to Laval. I still like this move. Thoughts?
🔵⚪️🔴
I would play him. We need toughness on the bottom 6 bad.
No brainer; great deal. Can we now agree the Bergevin era was a bust? Its all about management it seems and we finally have some.
Sammy Blais is great in laval , what a pick up!!!
Honestly, I don't see him playing in the NHL for the Habs again with how XFlo has been playing. I'd rather Florian get the chance.
I bet he gets the call up up after the road trip and Davidson gets sent back down, I think this is a good pickup.
I don't understand these moves , but I guess at most they impact the bottom 6 so not a huge deal.
Last game against Mammoth , could tell can't really have both /all of Veleno + Florian + Davidson in the lineup
Should upgrade these guys to people who can play NHL 3rd period minutes, one guy getting benched for top line guys sure , but 2.5 of these guys can't /shouldn't be on the ice for critical minutes???
Texier , Blais , can these guys play the minutes ?
Josh on that video binge,, wonder if he cheated on Jess today w another channel??🤔🤣❤️
What with the injuries and call-ups it adds a veteran body which helps Laval and adds tweener depth.
another frog
now Habs have another option experienced and has a Stanley cup ring also.
so bringing back another spare
i hope tomorrow Blais will play
i was pissed when they let him go….. this guy & Florian down in bottom 6 gives us the grit we need down in the last 2 lines
Veleno experiment should be over now
Roy a trade piece ? Maybe there's now a market for slow perimeter players.
As a Greek from mtl solidarity with the Italian kid Joe veleno.
Unfortunately it’s not working out for him in Montreal.
His game ain’t working with this team …
Management should speak to him see where he could go and feel welcome and fit in .
Do him a solid send him to a team with which he matches to jump start his career.
Davidson out .
Texier and Blais in
