This is NOT “Fools Gold” | The New England Patriots are really 🤬 GOOD!

I like Cam Newton and I like what he’s been able to manufacture in his post playing career. He’s a good analyst and he he does some really fun things. Fool’s goat is just such a lazy and short-sighted take. It’s like, oh, they had an easy record, so they’re not playing well. Like, I need context. Help me understand what about them is fool’s goat. Is it just because you don’t think they’re talented enough a team and that their easy record has been a mirage? Their wins are a mirage? Like, this is a National Football League. This season, more than any season in recent memory, has shown parody in the National Football League. Anybody can beat anybody. But when he says it’s fool’s gold, it’s hard for me to support that without context, without you saying that, hey, fundamentally they’re flawed because of this. They’re playing good defense. Offensively, Drake May is playing really good football. It’s not like, hey, they’re getting a lot of tip passes and he’s just getting lucky lucky play here and they are living off yak or something like that. They’re playing in a sustainable way. Fool’s gold.

  1. It’s always funny when players bitch about sports commentators and how they speak about the game, and then some of them go on to do the exact same thing! (Cam)

  2. Everyone forgets two thing ! Patriot went 4-13 the last two season and last thing patriots every year have to play the Bills 2 times in one year not like the chiefs play them once or every other three years !

  3. I dont like Cam at all, hes obnoxious and a diva. He says things just to be a troll and stir things up. I like him as the football player. But that's where it begins and ends.

  4. Cam is just trying to play devils advocate without saying it. I mean he had Indy being above and better than the pats but Indy has not beaten anyone either. they have 2 wins against +.500 teams just like the pats

  5. Broncos struggled with the fucking Jets… Eagles also lost to the Giants.. Bills lost to Miami.. I don't wanta hear shit about a easy schedule bro…. Just like Sherman said "ANYBODY CAN BEAT ANYBODY" schedule don't matter… this year is showing that…

  6. That is an excellent analysis. Cam’s statement of the Pats being fool's gold is like placing a bet on a long shot at the Kentucky Derby. If the Pats somehow went 15-2 and won the Super Bowl, no one will come back at Newton, and it will at most be a footnote. But if the Pats win out or make the playoffs and lose in the first round, Cam will be pounding the drum, “You heard it here first.”

Cam, though, as pointed out here, is making claims with little substance. Remember the perfect season Miami had, when they went undefeated and won the Super Bowl? They, too, had an extremely light strength of schedule. Is anyone saying there should be an asterisk by their title, or they were fools gold? Hell no, you play the teams you play, and you go as far as the talent you have on game day takes you; injuries can play a bigger role.

For context: The 1972 Miami Dolphins had a very easy regular season strength of schedule, with opponents having a combined winning percentage of .396.

  7. Eh. I know fans can become fanatic but for real the Pats in the past 20+ years have had mantras that live outside of football. "Do Your Job"… "We ALL we got…we all we need". Point being is as a fan I'm happy as hell my team is winning but as a person who's gone through crazy rough seasons in life I'm 💯% on board with ignoring the noise, doing my job, and waving to the naysayers and haters because I say the work has been put in so "Why Not Me".
