Burleson vs. BBQ | St. Louis Cardinals
This is Alec Berles and we’re in Kansas City. We’re going to try some barbecue at Jack Stack Barbecue. I’m from North Carolina. We definitely take pride in our barbecue. So, we’ll see how this stacks up. That door is freaking me out cuz I keep thinking somebody’s coming through it. Every time you see me turn, it’s cuz All right, here comes some food. Oh jeez. Some appetizers here. Okay, there’s going to be a lot left if you want to sit down and eat with me. jumbo everything. I’ve never seen a mushroom this big. Never seen it. This is genetically modified. I’ve never seen this. I don’t even know how to eat it. This is going to be steaming hot. I know. There’s a cross-section. Jumbo. Jumbo mushroom. You can see the steam. It’s steaming hot. So, I’m not even going to risk it. I’ll be out of commission for 3 days if I burn my mouth. If there’s one food in the world that I will not eat, it’s raw onions. So, we’re going to have to pick around those here. I see some on top. For the sake of this, we’re gonna try it. So, can’t taste them. We’re good. Yep. That’s legit. Give that like a We’re going to We’re going to rate everything. Scale 1 to 10. How’s that sound? I give that like a 6.5 out of 10. Jalapeno, corn, something. I hope this is butter. You don’t even have to chew it. You don’t even chew. Nobody a little jalapeno. Not overwhelming though, which excites me. Uh, that would be like a Oh my Jesus. All right, this is going to be a long day. Hey man, they’re the ones who said like bring it all. Yeah. Oh, Jesus. All right, here we go. We’re going more. All right, so what the heck, dude? What is that? I’m going with the mushroom here. Tastes pretty good. I mean, it this could be a meal itself. Just one mushroom. Go with like a five out of 10, I think. Good. I can eat it. I don’t know where to start. I kind of want to try one of these little handheld lamb ribs. Okay. Yeah, just pull off the bone. That’s fine. That’s legit. I just spit everywhere. I’m going to say that is a 8.9 out of 10. I’m going to reserve the nine and we can Excuse you. Lamb ribs. Legit. Try this. Oh, six out of 10. I could eat that whole thing if I wanted to. Their wings are really popular here. Is that what we said? All right. I can see why. I feel like you can hear me chewing in this and it’s going to make me very uncomfortable when I watch this back. My wife hates me chewing. 71. I just smoke it. I just freaking eat the whole thing. Is that what I have to do? Mhm. This is going to make me so uncomfortable watching this back. I just wanted the meat. I don’t want no fat. But that that’s good fat. What end do I go from? All right, we’ll do it. We’ll do it. We’ll smoke it. Let’s go. Oh, I cussed. That was embarrassing. Holy cow. Literally. Holy cow. Time out. I didn’t rate the What did I just eat? burnins. Those are a 84. This I’ve got mixed feelings about it. Like it embarrassed me, but it’s freaking Look at that. Look at that. Look at that. Look at a closeup of that. That’s a That’s a ri 79. Enjoyed it. Whoops. There’s just so much meat. All right. This is the the beef pit beans. All right. I’m so sorry. We’re going to go at it. I I can’t I want to eat more, but I can’t because I have to try this other stuff. Oh, tastes so good. I’ll give the beans like a six nine. They want to be a seven. I think if I wasn’t as full as I am, they’d be over a seven. So, it’s not their fault. It’s not the beans fault. It’s my fault. He said this was like what they do here. Cheese corn. What does that even mean? What is cheesy corn? I’m actually scared for this one. I mean, it’s exactly what he said it was. When you say cheese and corn, this is exactly what you think it would taste like. It’s cheese and corn. Like, I there’s nothing special to it to me. To me. Sorry. I apologize. All right, we’ll go 51 for the mushrooms, five for the cheesy corn. It’s not bad, but it’s cheese and corn. Let’s get into the healthy options. This is really going to balance everything out I’ve had today. Don’t have high hopes for this. It’s just broccoli. Whoa. All right. Tastes like broccoli. Four. Five. Oh my gosh. All right. I don’t Looking at some potatoes here. It looks very potatoey. All right, we’ll go for it. Those I underestimated. Those are pretty good. I underestimated those potatoes. I would give those like a a 64. Oh, got to go for the slo, don’t we? I don’t know what these seeds are in here. All right, let’s do it. I’m sorry. This just not for me. Could be for other people, too. If I had to eat it, I would eat it. So, we haven’t done the brisket. Yeah, I know. We haven’t done the brisket yet. I just can’t breathe. I’m sweating. I’m so full. All right, let’s go with the brisket. Are they going to see this? Are they going to see this? I’m getting to the point where I’m so full I don’t care what I say anymore. Little too dry for my liking. Probably need some sauce, but I’m not taking another bite. 52. 30 second. How do people come here for lunch and then go back to work? They have turkey. He didn’t bring no turkey out here. You want to try it? No. Heck no, I don’t. We can get it out here. No. So then the other question is after the rib, like are you wanting to peruse the dessert menu? Duh. I know I have the rib. Stop looking at the rib. I see you looking at the rib. Yes, you are, dude. Like, hurry up. Eat the rib. All right. I can’t give it a fair rating. It’s probably really good. It just does not taste good to me right now. But it’s probably really good. All these people look so happy walking out and it’s not going to be me. All right, let’s get this Let’s get this all out of here and dessert. We’ve got a carrot cake and then creme brulee. But this is what they said they’re famous for. So, we’re going to dig in. It’s warm. I wasn’t expecting that. I could eat that whole thing right now, but I’m not going to. I mean, why do we need fruit? Why do we need to watch already eaten everything under the sun? Yep. Crispy top. I could eat this whole thing, too. If I came back tomorrow, I would probably order the carrot cake. So, for that reason, I have to rate the carrot cake higher. That’s like a 92. And then creme brulee is like 88, 87, 88, somewhere around there. got the trial of Jack Stack and what they have to offer. Meat, sides, desserts. I think uh definitely a good day in Kansas City.
