Clearly Pete’s camp is putting this info out there. Whether it’s to protect Geno or himself, I don’t know. Seems crazy to me to pay $6M to a coach that doesn’t know how to call a play. How are you guys interpreting this?

The guy holds onto the ball too long and throws into triple coverage vs an easy 10 yd jeanty check down, that’s not on chip.

  5. I can see getting away from the gameplan but how does he “forget” the play calls. He is literally sitting in the booth reading off a play sheet. Just makes the story seem more like a hit piece.

  8. Seems like pure bullshit. Chip has had problems at both the colleges and NFL ranks, but straight up botching calls like this is completely out of left field.

    It’s true, and we paid the highest OC salary in the league to let a guy play with his own poop for 12 weeks.

    It’s not true, and we’re leaking hit pieces to scapegoat fired coordinators less than one year into this regime.

    Either way it’s fucked and so are we.

  10. I’ll believe this is true if the Raiders offense comes out firing on all cylinders. If they look the same, and Geno continues to play like shit, then we know that this is a hit piece to try and save face for Pete’s kids

  11. Sounds like a PR move to protect Pete and company’s reputations and buy the regime more time. Chip probably has a non disclosure agreement of some kind so you probably won’t hear much out of him. It’s still on Pete for not addressing the issue sooner if this is what happened. Fire them all.

  14. Olson can call a basic offense and get first downs. It won’t be pretty, but we’ll move the ball at least at a mediocre level. Just don’t win to much, we need that pick

  15. Play call only goes so far, Geno is the final call on any play. He is two time consecutive pro-bowl if there is something he doesn’t like he could easily call time out and get clarity. If this was as deep a problem as rumor has it, Brady is listening to the whole thing and could easily have said something to Pete after the third game?. Pete is the also someone who could of taken over at any point and did the play call himself while leaving Kelly to learn under him if he felt it was tanking the season.

    There is a lot of unanswered why’s when a I read this to just say Kelly was the show ender. At the same time they are looking for a reset after dropping Kelly. “We” should hope that Kelly’s departure is thing that unites them, only the results matter at his point, and our OL is rated as totally failed under the top 160 OL’s out there this season without Miller or JPJ. I don’t understand how we have 2 3rds that after 8 months of training, bodying building, …etc. That either one is somehow not ready for prime time.

    I am going to chill for a few weeks and observe, I imagine there is truth behind those rumors, at the same time there were a lot shit gates that didn’t close to save our season and our two OLs injures fall someone in this BS.

  16. So, if chip called a play that wasnt in the gameplan, why would geno relay that play to the rest of the team? Unless geno doesn’t know the plays either?

  17. Idk what the real story is or if this PR and scapegoating. What I do know is this.
    Chip isn’t responding and it seemed like chip was not willing to change anything he was doing at anyone’s request. And what I mean by that is it seemed there was a disconnect between what chip and carrol wanted to do. These are two stubborn egos. I do not like what I see in chips system. I hate the amount, time and positioning with movement and pulls he requires the OL to do in his scheme. I think he deserves to be fired off this alone while everyone is blaming Brennan. The IC puts the OL in position and he and the coach make the decisions about positions. Not the OLINE coach. Position coaches are more like trainers. They really dont have much to do with the scheme. They are handed the plays and positioning by the oc and their job is to know the OL knows it. Im optimistic this Oline and offense does better on a simpler, more traditional nfl scheme though its a mid retread. Thismught help the youth develope

  20. Whatever it was, there was definite disconnect. They said different things and was never on same page. We’re not gonna succeed much cause OL is god awful but let’s see if we focus more on Jeanty runs and targeting Bowers. At least that’ll show the change in philosophy.

  22. While this is a significant thing to levy at someone, it would be a more significant thing to fabricate about someone. So I’m gonna go with real over not real.

    And this is coming from someone who was open to keeping Chip until start of next season.

  25. I am very critical of Chip but this is a classic media hit piece to save face. I totally call bullshit he’d botch calls that badly.

    I think the game on this level has simply passed him by, we have a gigantic talent deficit ok this team, and Geno is straight ass

  27. Chip Kelly invented a whole style of offense when he was at Oregon. He didn’t have great success as a head coach, obviously. Do, unless he’s losing his marbles, this story is hard to believe. We’ll see

  30. I’m calling BS for the simple fact that IF this was happening, my next question is when did this start happening? Week 2? Week 4? Last Week?

    Based on the answer, I put the onus on Pete for not fixing this issue sooner. You’re the head guy, you know this was happening, and you took however long to address it?

    IMO Pete made Chip out to be the scapegoat and is now trying to save face and protect Geno and Brennan.
