Josh Naylor Sit-Down Interview After Signing with the Mariners
The first major free agent may be off the market and the Mariners are reportedly finalizing a deal with first baseman Josh Naylor. Josh Naylor bombs it away. Uh my first free agency has been awesome. Um going to be a Mariner again and I couldn’t be more excited. Um couldn’t be more excited to just win ball games in front of this fan base, celebrate my teammates success with them and uh just have a have an awesome year. I think the guys are a big part of it. Uh they were so awesome to me when I first got here. It was a blessing to to be here with them and they kind of brought me in and and loved my game right away. Josh Naylor’s first home run as a Mariner gives them the early lead. I kind of felt like I blended in with them well. This team is uh it’s hard to describe the effort they show every single night. It’s uh you don’t see it very often. you don’t see the desire to win very often like with a whole group, the passion, the love for the game, the love for each other. I think that was a big um pulling point for me too coming back here. All the guys here are exceptional, exceptional humans, exceptional players. This team is I think special is an understatement there. It’s like beyond that, way beyond that. I don’t think there is a limit for this team. Phenomenal just just people in general and I think it translates into the game and you know how far we got last year. I know was I was only a part of like 2 and 1/2 months of it, but I felt like I was here the whole year and I just want to continue to play with these guys and and bring the city a championship. You know, we were so close last year and I think we’re we have a very very good chance of doing it, you know, all the way. Swinging a fly ball deep into the gap in right center field. Josh Naylor with a home run. What an addition right before the trade deadline. Josh Naylor, what makes Mariners fans so special? the love. This place was just absurd. It was shaking 24/7. Um, after a big play, a big hit, even a walk, like the crowds are going crazy. It was insane how how loud this place got. And I truly think it was the loudest place I’ve ever been in my career in any sort of atmosphere. This place was nuts. Wow. He’s taken off for third. The throw down by Dingler and Naylor has a steal. Crowd effects right here. This is This is the crowd affecting this game. It warms your heart as a player because it it makes you like want to stay in a place and want to continuously do well in front of them to make them happy and make them proud. And they are through and through really ride or die and I am so thankful for them and and I think I can speak for a lot of the players here like this fan base is the best of the best.
