The Celtics could be without Neemias Queta, Jaylen Brown when they face the Minnesota Timberwolves tomorrow

  1. A lot of talk about a lot of other guys, but if Brown’s out, then someone else needs +20 and Simons is still the best candidate.

Barring that, you’d need Pritchard and White to combine for 80 again. They can both have “good” games, but that won’t replace the 30 we’d need from Brown.

It’ll be interesting to see, we need the scoring volume, but Joe’s been super strict about Simons’ efficiency so far. He generally doesn’t let Simons play through cold or even decent stretches.

Look at his 20 point nights:

    Opp| Points | TS%
    —|—|—-|—-
    NOP| 25 | 71.7%
    ORL |25 | 84.7%
    BRK | 23 | 70.0%
    ORL | 23 | 93.3%

He does technically have an inefficient 19 point night:

But it’s still unreal to think that Joe won’t let him hit +20 unless his TS% is through the roof, like 3-4% higher than Steph Curry’s best ever seasons is his baseline.

This is good to see as well:

    >It’s a good sign that Queta is already listed as questionable after pre-emptively being ruled out for the Celtics game against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.

    >“[He’s] day-to-day,” Joe Mazzulla said on Wednesday. “We’ll just kind of assess him every day. He got a little bit better today than he was when it initially happened. So we’ll just kind of take it from there each day, see how he is.”

Another game or two for the bench bigs to prove themselves, and then he’s back in action. Maybe the best outcome for our season.
