🚨MASSIVE Seattle Seahawks Injury News Ahead Of Minnesota Vikings Game🚨

[Music] What’s going on everybody? I’m Will Ortner. This is Seahawks today and your Seattle Seahawks just got a ton of injury news both for the Seahawks as well as some big injury news going on with the Vikings as well. We’re going to dive into all of that on today’s episode. And I want to stay first with the guys who are staying on the injured reserve. That’s Julian Love and tight end Eric Salbert. Now, why are both of those guys staying on the injured report? Well, because they’re just not ready to go yet. They are in a spot where it doesn’t make sense to activate them onto the active roster because one, they would take up some space uh if there’s no reason for them to take up that space if they’re not going to go and see the field immediately. I also think at this point, especially with Love, McDonald wants to wait until the safety is 100% healthy and ready to go. There’s no reason to rush him back, especially with the games that you have going on right now. Like, Julian Love really shouldn’t make the difference between you beating the Minnesota Vikings and you losing to the Minnesota Vikings. If that’s what’s happening, then the Seahawks team isn’t as good as we think that they are. And frankly, I think that right now they’re a top three team in the NFC, right? So, if Julian Love isn’t ready to go, don’t force him back. I think you might not even see him against Atlanta next week. I think there’s plenty of time for Seattle to just kind of let them all rest, recover, be ready to go for that Colts game, that Rams game, but more importantly for the playoff games that are on the way. I do think it’s important to note that there’s no injured reserve for safety Taio. Um it does actually look like he is questionable. So there’s a chance he might even be ready to go and play in this game, which I think is fascinating with a core injury. Usually those take a while to heal. And they’re kind of nagging. It’s just an injury that the only way it heals is by you resting. Well, guess what football doesn’t let you do? It doesn’t let you ever rest, right? You have to be ready to go the entire time. So, I find it fascinating that he might be active and playing in this game. And if he isn’t, or potentially if he is, the rumor is that Quandre Diggs might be able to go. That’s how good of a week of practice that Diggs has had for the Seahawks. I cannot believe that we’re going to get to see Diggs back in action so quickly. I kind of assumed with him signing with the Seahawks in the middle of the week, like, okay, hey, he’s going to practice a little bit. He’s going to be a veteran leader. He’ll have a little bit of play time, but he’s going to be more of a guy that they throw in in certain situations where you can get the most out of him. Uh, and he’s more so there as a veteran leader to help like Nicki Murray, help Oura. Uh, I mean, even help Julian Love when he comes back because whatever’s happened in the NFL to Quandre Diggs hasn’t always happened to some of the other guys just because Quandre Diggs has been in the league for so long and he’s such a smart veteran. Uh, but the fact that we might actually get to see him out on the field, gigantic. Now, what do I expect from Diggs when he’s out on the field, I don’t expect him to be the same player that he was in Seattle. I mean, he was basically a Pro Bowler every single year that he was here, and he was a guy who was in the conversation for being an allpro. He’s he’s just a fantastic player, but he’s older now. So, the expectation should not be, hey, he’s going to continue to be that guy. The expectation should be whatever that we get out of him is gravy. Uh or that’s the icing on the cake because the cake for him is really just being a veteran presence to help a a young team in the NFL and a young secondary. Now, another injured reserve player uh is linebacker Chaz Serat. Um it was kind of announced early on in the week that he was going to go to the IR. Now, that is a big deal in my eyes because you’re losing linebacker depth, but also you’re losing a guy who’s on most of the special teams for the Seahawks. Now, Seattle did activate the Montana Grizzly graduate Patrick O’Connell, who I thought played pretty darn well in uh that Tennessee Titans game. It’s clear to me that there’s some lateral speed that you are going to lose when um you don’t have Tyrese Knight or Ernest Jones out on the field and you have Okonnell out instead. That all being said, dude’s a pretty darn good player. And when you have a guy like Okonnell that, you know, is a practice squad guy for most of the year, but gets called up onto the active roster, uh, I think it’s pretty damn impressive that you have that type of depth in your lineup. I think right now we’ve seen really four major uh, linebackers play for you in those two middle linebacker spots between Drake Thomas, Tyrese Knight, Ernest Jones, and then now Okonnell. I don’t think that there’s a gigantic drop off between any of them. Obviously, there is some drop off. There always is going to be some drop off, but I’ve been happy with what uh Okonnell’s been able to do for you. Jack Griffin is also going and going to add on to the active roster. That of course was a move made after Darien Kendrick was released. Unfortunately, the Seahawks were not able to get him back on the practice squad. Rams went and picked him up. A little bit of a snip snap snip snap situation there. uh bouncing between each team and I do think that that is important. We’ve already mentioned that Diggs is on your practice squad, but you did sign wide receiver uh Jimmy Holiday and he’s going to go be on the practice squad as well. I think that is something that is important to note. Um, when you have a a wide receiver like that added on to the practice squad with the elevation of Cody White playing a lot more, seeing a lot more time, especially with Tory Horton out, um, it’s always good to just have more and more uh, depth. I got a few more injury news and notes, but I do have to let you know about the fine sponsor of today’s video, that is our good friends over at Prize Picks. All right, so the major signing that was announced this week is Cam Acres is officially joining the active roster. The 26-year-old uh does kind of seem like to be your RB3 filling in after George Hani is dealing with that hamstring injury. Uh I like the addition of Acres just because it’s an iron sharpens iron type of a deal, right? where you have four running backs now um on this active roster and on this squad that man they they have some had some success in the National Football League. Cam Acres was a dang good running back and for multiple years when he was in LA like he kind of seemed to be the bane of our existence at times, right? So is he going to come in and take over Kenneth Walker or Zach Sharbon spot? Probably not. But he might fit into this system. I mean, uh, McVey ran a similar zone type of running scheme. Acres did well in it. He’s veteran presence. He’s an added running back in a room that has had to deal with injury issues this year. At some point, basically since the start of training camp, Zack Charbanet, and Kenneth Walker have all had to miss time. So, I don’t hate adding Cam Acres into this system. He’s a veteran presence. He’s been on multiple teams this season. most recently was with the Minnesota Vikings, but this wasn’t a like, hey, let’s get K makers in and find out what they’re doing offensively. He’s on the active roster, so I would expect him to be around here for a little bit of time. Miles Gaskin also go to the practice squad. I think that’s important to note just because I like it whenever Seattle signs a local guy. I always think that’s a fun story to talk about. And when you have an ODA product, uh, it’s it’s going pretty darn well for the Seahawks to have a guy like Gaskin on the P squad. Now, the last little bit for the Seahawks before we get into the Vikings news is that defensive tackle Riley Mills has been activated to practice. Now, he’s not going to play in this game. He’s not able to go. And in fact, I don’t expect to see Riley Mills probably for another three weeks. Like, he is going to and he should use all the time allotted to him to ramp himself back up and be ready to go for the Seahawks. Remember, Mills tore his ACL in last December in that Indiana Notre Dame uh playoff game. It usually takes about 15 to 18 months for most guys to be 100% healthy after an ACL tear. That’s why you see a lot of sayings with ACL tears, it’s the second year where you’re back to normal, uh not that first year. That’s why the Adrien Peterson rushing record year was so damn impressive. Uh with Mills, obviously he’s at like a year right now. So let him kind of build into it and then maybe there’s a potential chance that you get Jiren Reed and Mills back at the exact same time. Now you’re cooking with Greece. Like watch out. What can that squad do? Can they go out and make big moves for you? Big plays uh for the Seahawks and that defensive front that was already pretty darn good. Now they get really freaking good. So, I am excited for Mills, but I would say at the earliest, like don’t expect him until like around that Carolina Panthers time. I would not expect to see much of him until then. Uh, the other bit of news coming out of Minnesota is that JJ McCarthy is not going to be able to go. He’s going to miss this game. I had kind of said and alluded to that earlier in the week in my preview as well as a short that I put out when Rousini said that she did not expect him to play and she was getting her information. a lot of people inside of uh the Vikings staff, right? Well, we’re gonna get Max Bromer. There’s a lot of comparisons right now uh of him to Brock Perie. Good luck. Good luck, Max. I understand that JJ McCarthy has not been fantastic this season. I understand that the joke is that Seahawks got bad news because Bromer is going to be the starter. Um, it’s an undrafted free agent and he’s going to go up against what I would say is the best defense in the National Football League. McDonald’s great at disguising things. That defensive front can eat. It’s not like the Vikings offensive line has been all that good. Anyways, don’t be shocked. Do not be shocked if the Seahawks defense kind of have a similar performance to that Arizona game. not necessarily in getting forced fumbles and touchdowns, but don’t be shocked if those guys absolutely eat. Um, I I wouldn’t wish uh it being a starting quarterback in your first ever start against Mike McDonald defense, especially this Mike McDonald defense. Thank you guys so much for tuning in. We really appreciate it and uh I can’t wait to see you guys next time. [Music]
