Are Saints HOLDING BACK Tyler Shough?! | Why New Orleans Must Trust Rookie QB
We’ve got Nick Underh Hill, New Orleans. Foot joining us to talk New Orleans Saints. Yes, that New Orleans Saints. Nicholas, what’s up, brother? How we doing? You know, I’m I’m I’m a consumer of the show as well as a contributor. I’m I’m a little hurt. I’m a little hurt. Oh, what? Wow. Let’s uh forgetting it was Tuesday. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. A little bit. A little bit. I mean, I’ve been there though. I So, I guess we’re even, but Yeah. Yeah. It’s a It’s cold blooded, man. It’s It’s the daylight savings. When I say I had literally no idea that today was Tuesday. I mean like no idea. Holiday week. Look, we’re in coaching rumor purgatory. I mean we we got a foot out the door. We don’t have to work on Thursday and Friday. Nick, that’s on me. I’ll pat my chest. I’ll pat my chest. That’s on me. Got to be better. Got to be better. Uh there’s a lot of got to be better for the Saints. Oh yeah. Um, man, I all jokes aside, like I felt good about this game. I’m like, I look, I I know Kirk Thuggings is playing and that’s actually probably better than Penn at this point, but you’re at home. You got some juice from the last game. I kind You got a byee. You’re going to be ready for this game. And my oh my, was I wrong. I thought that game was going to go completely different than it did, Nick. Yeah, I’m with you. I was a little bit surprised they came out and looked so flat again to start the game. I mean, there’s just stuff here that that I just, you know, I think we’re starting to reach a point where it just feels like it’s probably not going to get fixed. Um, you know, I I don’t like I don’t like a lot of what they’re doing right now. I don’t know where I want to start ranting. Um, but I mean, look, I’m I’m curious what you guys think about on this, too. Like I it’s kind of inconceivable to me that you’re trying to find out what you got with your young quarterback and you line up 15 times in the red zone and your rookie quarterback doesn’t get a single red zone passing attempt the whole game. Like there’s a lot of guys that are great between the 20s. like Jimmy Garopppolo and Drew Brees basically have the same exact numbers, quarterback rating, uh, uh, uh, completion percentage, yards per attempt, touchdown to interception ratio between the 20s, and then you get to the last 20 and Drew takes off to another stratosphere and Jimmy Garopppolo goes the other direction. Like, you got to find out if you got a Drew or a Jimmy. Like, I I I I don’t get it. um like it’s just kind of you need to evaluate this stuff and it just doesn’t like some of the the stuff they’re doing just like as a as a philosophy um doesn’t fully add up to me like you’re you’re getting guys on the field for development you’re you’re cycling in Danny Stzman um you’re trading Rasheah you’re granting Brandon Cooks’s release like all these things signal rebuild develop evaluation and then like at the most important spot like you’re just gripping so tight to what is he 35 a 35 year old player. That’s 36 year old. I I don’t know what he is. What Whatever it is, he’s probably not going to be on your team next year. Um so like let him let him throw the ball down there a couple times. Like yeah, run it from the womb with Tesm that whatever. Like that that’s fine. But like I think you got to cycle in a couple a couple plays just to see if he can like perform in these high leverage situations. And I go so far as to say that this isn’t even like result space for me. Like I think a a incompletion from Tyler Shuck could potentially carry more value than a positive play from from Taesm in that area of the field because he can learn from it and grow. And I I think that’s really what it should be about. And it’s just weird that like all of a sudden like like in some areas like you’re pressing so hard, but then on the other like you’re still sticking with the kicker who’s already missed six kicks, he misses two more. And like over here you’re fine with sacrificing points in the spirit of development, but over here with the quarterback you aren’t. I I don’t know. It doesn’t it just doesn’t make sense to me as a philosophy. To your point, it’s the uh there’s two there’s conflicting philosophies in the game because in one hand you’re saying we’re trying to win the game because I think this Taesm Hill package gives us the best best chance to pick up a first down or score a touchdown. We’re not trying to necessarily de develop somebody we think can be good. But on the kicking game, you’re like, we’re not trying to win games because we don’t care if he misses. We want to see what we got in the kicker. So, it’s completely conflicting ideologies, which is wild to me. Like, what like where is the disconnect from what whatever the powers of be the the owner, the GM, the head coach, like why isn’t that making more sense? It it blows my mind. And that’s all I want is like for everything they’re doing to paint one picture. You’re moving one direction to signify. Yeah, I think I think we’d be fine with one way or the other. If you’re trying to win the games, fine. If or if you’re trying to get ready for the future or see what you got, then that’s a totally different philosophy. Like just pick one or the other. But they’re doing two different things. Yeah. And if that’s the case, then like maybe you shouldn’t have granted the release to Brandon Cooks and you know, some of this other stuff where it’s just like Yeah, that that makes sense. Like yeah, he probably shouldn’t be here. You probably should be looking for for the future. Brandon Cooks probably doesn’t fit this. But and again, like I’m okay with some of the taesome stuff. Like you you get to the one, no big deal to me. I I don’t even really like, you know, the the the tape some runs all like it in the in the midfield area because like they don’t really do anything to to help your your quarterback. Like it’s like me and Triplet battle over this all the time and he’s like, “Well, it’s the same as the handoff.” I argue that it isn’t because you can’t like run play action off it. You aren’t doing any looks off of that. You aren’t doing it’s just literally trying to get yards without Shuck and there’s no benefit to him on it. But especially like down in the red zone, those high leverage areas and they were kind of doing the same thing to to Rattler. Like we were talking about um I can’t remember what game it was, but it Taesm came in, he scored a touchdown. And like I I hated that. Like I hated it because like the whole time leading into it, we’re like, “Yeah, we got to find out what what Rattler can do in the red zone.” Like some of the stuff looks good, but he needs to show growth here. And that like that’s going to be what determines success or fail failure for him. And like off the field he goes, and he doesn’t have the chance. And it’s just what is the season about? like is it is it is it wins over everything or is it the other thing because everything else you’re doing except for that one thing is painting a different picture. Um so yeah, just just one philosophy and I can get my head around it and then I’ll evaluate it through that. But I just don’t want to be confused at what I’m looking at. Yeah, you gota you got to be careful too like if you’re because from a quarterback play all year. Yeah, I would say Shuck and Spencer both played very comparable, right? It’s like everybody like it it’s not their fault. Like either one of them were saying it’s not the quarterback position. But like yeah, you get it. You’re not winning games. But like Saints got to be careful. Like if they think that Shuck could be their guy of getting the same stigma that Rattler’s getting of being what, two and 10 or whatever he is of like having a bad losing record, then all of a sudden Saints fans and people are like, “Well, I don’t want that. I’ve already seen it. I’ve already seen what he can do. He’s only won one game and he’s played started eight or nine times.” Like the same thing’s going to happen. And it’s like it’s such an unfair comparison for Chuck and Rattler because of the way that they’re playing. Like you’re not getting a true look at who that they could be. 100%. And like that that’s the whole thing like we could be sitting here at the end of the season be like man I don’t know like there’s some there’s some blind spots here. I didn’t see everything I need to see. Like like if he is terrible in the red zone and look there there was some stuff that like there was a lot of throwaways at Louisville. Like there’s things that I I want to see down in that area of the field. like I I just don’t want to be here January and it’s like well I don’t know like do do they have the guy or not like it should be a definitive answer. So every opportunity you have to as as they say collect collect information like you you need to be collecting that information. So um I I I hope they do something different but I I don’t know like this has just kind of been the method of operation the whole year. Um, and it’s I I I don’t know if they’re telling us they don’t believe in the quarterback or what, but like it’s it’s just a very weird way to go about business, especially when like it seems like there should be no pressure on them to win games. Like I can’t imagine they’re sitting up there in the front office and like stepping on his neck right now. I think everybody knows what it is. Uh, so just very very very odd to me that that one area just seems to be completely disconnected from the rest of the picture. And Nick, in the NFL, you cannot lean on I don’t trust a quarterback. Look what the Panthers are doing. They can’t trust Bryce Young and they still got five wins because they at least still put the ball in his hand. They did it on first down yesterday on the one yard line in the first drive of the game for them and he throws an interception. Like they can’t trust that guy, but they still keep doing it. And look what happens. They got they at least have five wins. Yeah. So, and Shuck and Rattler are better players than Bryce Young. Let’s let’s let’s call it what it is. 100%. And like the the pay stuff isn’t even working, which makes it even worse. the first play they ran like just completely I I don’t like so you’re going to you’re going to run Taesm out to the right, you’re going to have Devon Vele on the only route on the play and if everybody doesn’t bite on Taesm and Devon isn’t wide open in the in the back corner of the end zone and the play fails like I don’t even understand stuff like let let me see Chuck just sit back there and just you know go through three reads and see if he can get the ball out or something like it just feels it just I don’t know but um I just I can’t stand watching it drives me Is it?

Either Kellen is running the sweetest tank job ever,
Or Monkey Lupus can’t run the rebuild of a Lego set…
It’s apparent Kellen Moore is overwhelmed. We might have got a DUD HC!
The problem with the saints now rests topmost with the coach. Its hard to even evaluate their young players because the positions they're being put in are setting them up to fail. And that's a BIG problem because unless Kellen fixes himself he's going to torpedo the whole operation for years cuz he's not getting fired after 1
They did with Rattler half the season. I was thinking before we got Moore that we should bring Kubiak back, you see how that worked out in Seattle for him.
Coach Kellen Moore, grace period will soon be expiring.
Just looking at his preparations, decision making process, overall play calling, and logistical football operations. IT'S HORRIBLE. Coach seems to be overwhelmed. Some of the head scratchers are mind boggling. Coach is stubborn like Dennis Allen who refuses to change . He won't last 3 yrs at this pace . To much participation trophies man bonding and not enough boot to azz and get it done . Beta
Everybody got an opinion now
Taysom doesn’t look the same. They rushed him back and his speed isn’t there
He did the same thing with rattler in the red zone and nobody noticed .
Saints hold back any QB. They don't run the ball. Play action is pointless, too much pressure on young QBs.
Some games they don't run well. Other games (Bucs, Bears, Rams), they don't even try to run RBs.
They had Audric Estime inactive vs Falcons and use incompetent Taysom Hill instead.
Kellen Moore needs to go. The game plans are not good, personnel moves are terrible (trade Shaheed, cut Cooks, force it to inept Vele).
Some commentators that finally make sense😅😅😅
Been saying this all season when rattler was playing but no… people complained about us averaging 16-17 a game.
Now it’s down to 10 and People are ready to say it’s Kellen Moore
So much blame on Kellen, but his play calling sure looked pretty good for the SB champs. I also don’t get the Taysom hate. When he scores or converts first downs everybody loves him. When it doesn’t work out everybody thinks Kellen is smoking dope for giving it to him. And y’all let me know when you’re ready to be honest about Tyler Shough. I’m not sure what it’s going to take for y’all to accept he is not it.
Also, let’s look at the blame game:
1. We were ready for Drew to retire
2. We blamed Dennis Allen
3. We blamed Derrick Carr
4. We blamed Spencer Rattler
5. We’re blaming Blake Grupe
6. We’re blaming Kellen Moore
7. We’re blaming Taysom Hill
8. We’re not yet blaming Shough (not sure why not)
Yall blaming Tyler Shough is insane it’s okay Rattler ain’t the starter and he wasn’t doing half the shit Shough is going
Shough had 0 attempts in the red zone and yall blaming Shough is diabolical right now instead of the coach calling the plays…
Kellen Moore sucks.
Taysom,Alvin,Shough etc… none of these players have been used right by moore. Alvin made his name being one of the best Pass catching backs in NFL history…why doent he get any passes?
