INSTANT REACTION: Dan Hicken on the Jaguars’ 27-24 win over Arizona

The football gods, Little G, are smiling on our Jacksonville Jaguars this year. And we’ll take it. A win is a win is a win, right? And we knew it was going to be a tough game out in the desert. And the Jaguars went to overtime. Two and0 in overtime games. Another one-sore victory for the Jaguars. But man oh man, two of our key components today, some questionable decisions. I’ll start with the easier one. Liam Cohen, I’ll let you slide, but kick the field goal, please. 24-21. Fourth and not one, two. Kick the field goal. Make it 2721. We were We had their We had their offense. We were doing well. Make them go the whole way. Instead, you allow them to get a field goal to tie it, which they did, and set it to overtime. H please kick the field goal. Bigger issue is 16. Uh uh 18 of 30 uh 250 yards, three touchdowns. That’s all good. Three picks, lost a fumble for a touchdown. That’s not good. Uh listen, arguably the biggest one of the biggest drives of his career. One thing about Trevor, uh he does he does come back from disaster. And man, did he have some disasters today. I mean, I just don’t know, gang. Uh, we won in spite of our quarterback today. We won in spite of him. Um, that’s not good. He’s our $55 million guy. He’s got to come through. And he did not come through uh until the end where uh he scored, he got us a touchdown, got us ahead, and then uh got us a field goal in overtime. Uh, but man, oh man, fair game. Fair game. Trevor is fair game right now. And you cannot turn the ball over four times. Like I said, Arizona’s not a good team. They’re not a good team at all. And I think we can be at times. We certainly didn’t play like we did a week ago, nor did I expect us to play like we did a week ago. But we’re seven and four. And you know what? Other teams struggle, too. So, I’m not going to go sit here and rip guys to death when we win a football game. I can’t. We haven’t won enough around these parts for that to happen. I’m going to celebrate seven and four. I’m going to celebrate an overtime win in the desert. I’m going to celebrate. Look, we haven’t done well out there on the in the West. We haven’t done well. So, we’re coming back again with another victory. That’s okay by me. Uh I just wanted to get a win. ETN’s our MVP. Parker Washington’s a close second. It was great to have Brett and Strange back as well. Uh defensively, Arizona’s a mess. They can’t run the ball, so they’re just throwing. I like the blitzing. Well, go get them. We got sacks today. That was big. Uh Josh Hines Allen got one today. So, but listen, overall, we’ll take the victory. We’re seven and four. We jump Buffalo in the in the standings. We’re a game behind Indie, who blew one to the Chiefs. Indy’s good, but they blew one to the Chiefs. We’re a game behind now. We go to Tennessee next week. Chance to get to eight and four. Huge win. Celebrate it. Be happy. Uh big picture questions. Not sure how great we are, but I don’t care. I’m going to enjoy seven and four. We haven’t been seven and four in a few years, right? So, I know we were eight and three a couple years ago. We ended up nine and eight. I know there’s some concern, but right now today, let’s enjoy the victory. Let’s applaud the guys and try to fix some of the things. Big picture concerns certainly, but let’s uh let’s enjoy this win and the Jaguars approved to seven and four. Still firmly entrenched in the playoff picture in the AFC and we’ll take that every year. That’s my observations from today’s game.

  18. Dans an idiot. I’m convinced he doesn’t know what’s really going on. The fumble was from his blind side. The first pick was tipped by Calais at the line. The second pick was a great play by Baker. The third pick was on him.

    I’ll listen to the HC when it comes to the QB.

  22. How good are we???? We went to overtime with another Bad team, its hard to feel hopeful with a inconsistent team, you don't know what will show up week after week

  26. If anyone would have told me we would be 7-4 through 11 games at the beginning of the season i would have called them crazy. This regime is the difference between us losing close games

If you actually re watch the fumble td was brentons fault, the 1st pick was cambell making a good swat at the line, 2nd pick was 100 percent a bone head pick, 3rd pick was a phenomenal play by budda baker. Trevor really does need to stop challenging the best dbs in the game when throwing to our 4th string recievers. I only put two of those turnovers on trevor.

  35. 6 games left. titans x2, colts x2, broncos, jets. have to win 3 games at the bare bones minimum. (titans x2 and jets), colts x2 and broncos are obviously rough games. the titans game is going to be scrappy and ugly. i can see it being low scoring

  38. Dan says "enjoy the victory" yet nothing he said seemed like he was enjoying anything. The Jaguars would've folded like a cheap suit in the past. They've found resiliency and toughness along the way with Coen as the head coach. Does the QB need to play better? Yes. But not all of the turnovers were terrible mistakes. Their defense made a couple of remarkable plays. And, by the way, the Cardinals aren't an awful football team. They played some really good teams to the wire. Dan is like the football version of Scrooge. Bah humbug!!!!
