QB Bo Nix on Broncos’ attitude: ’The job’s definitely not even close to being finished’
Well, you have a lot of experience uh playing in the Pacific Northwest when you were in Oregon and it seems like the temperature is going to be somewhat similar as a quarterback. What has been the detailed preparation that you’ve gone through to prepare for kind of the temperatures and environment that you’re going to play with on Sunday? Uh I think it’s just trying not to think about it. It’s uh you know the weather is going to be the weather no matter uh you know there’s going to be nothing you can really do about it. So, play the play as it as it’s called in and do your best to handle the elements and, you know, if it’s cold um and handle the cold elements. If it’s raining, then you know, handle the rain, but um all we can focus on is just operating one play at a time. And um usually there’s a there’s a way even with the elements to figure it out with the play. Obviously, you guys also had some time off in the midst of, you know, the couple last couple weeks only having one game. What was the biggest advantage of just being able to get a time away? Coach Pton talked about how he learned from coach Reed giving players time off. What were you able to take away just from getting away from the game a little bit? I think just rest. Um, you know, when you get back and you’re you you know, you got the ability to have a strong finish to the season, that rest is really important. So getting away for a while, um, not really thinking about it, not really, you know, working too much on it, but, you know, watching other games, watching some college and just getting away from it and, you know, being ready when when you get back to, um, you know, be full go again and start back up and, um, you know, you don’t get these opportunities twice. They’re it’s going to be here and you get one shot at it. So, we got to make the most of it. Paul, looks like Mariota is trending to play. both you and him both top picks from Oregon. Did you have a connection with him at Oregon? Yeah, he’s he’s a great guy. He uh um one when he was at Oregon, I was back in, you know, elementary grade school. Loved watching him play. He was, you know, one of the best quarterbacks of his time, of his generation, definitely of mine getting to watch. So I knew of him and that was really about when you know Oregon was put on the map for um you know for a lot of us back on on the other side of the the country. So I knew Oregon football um was big and knew it was a great destination because of because of guys like that because of Marcus. But when I got there he was out there a few you know few weeks at a time training in the offseason. Got to you know talk with him and just catch up and great guy. always asking about, you know, life, how’s it going, and all that kind of stuff. Um, just very humble for all that he’s done. He’s very humble. Um, and just a great player, one that a lot of us have admired watching over the course of time. We we talk about all, you know, this week when we get to play him, guys, you know, Sam and City are out there running the zone read and they don’t quite do it do it justice like uh, you know, the guy like that. But, um, it’ll be fun to compete against him on on Sunday. Bo, do you feel like the offense took a step forward in terms of rhythm against a really good defense in Kansas City? You guys seem to be much more comfortable out there? Yeah, I I uh I think we played well. I think um we had a great game plan. Um you know, I think we uh executed the play that was called and we did a great job on first and second downs um so that we could you know, execute on third downs. And um when we did get in third and longs, we were able to execute a few of those and uh you know, managed to get first downs on those and extend drives and keep our defense off the field and go score points. Now, we didn’t do as well in the red zone like we have, you know, we planned and like we’ve done in the in the um the rest of the season, but um you know, they were a good defense and you knew you were going to have to work for everything you got. And um you know, we got to the red zone. We just got to finish and capitalize on those um red zone drives. uh like we’ve pretty much done throughout the year. So, got to get back to doing that. But definitely, you know, good to see us sustain drives, you know, work and operate well on first and second down. Um convert some third downs and uh you know, ultimately again find drives that you need to go and win games like that. Sean was talking about the seating and then he talked to you guys about what it would mean to have homefield advantage. I know you’ve got the week toe approach, but but how much do you kind of relish having this opportunity down the stretch that you can put yourself in that position over the final few weeks? Well, we put oursel in this position uh now to put oursel in in that position then. And I think it’s uh you know, the job’s definitely not even close to being finished yet. Um but we have put oursel in the spot to, you know, obtain it. And so that’s you know, part of the part of the journey. you got to put yourself in a situation to um you know get it there at the end and grab hold of it, but it’s right there in front of us and um you know, like I said, you don’t get these opportunities a lot. Um they’re definitely hard to come by. So, got to make sure that you um you know, take it and not miss it. You know, you don’t get these a lot. And um you know I obviously this is my first time and um you know I’m definitely excited and um you know eager to keep going about it and keep find a way to get it done. So few more for both. I don’t know if you’ve heard but Vance Joseph said he thinks that you’re the Broncos next John Elway. You’re going to be here a long time. What does it mean to have someone on the staff defensive coordinator say that about you? Well that’s uh that’s quite something coming from a coach like that. well respected not only in our organization but in the entire league. Um but obviously I I know behind a statement like that comes a lot of work and responsibility. So um doesn’t just happen in year or two. It doesn’t just happen overnight. So got to continue to do my part um do my role and um you know becoming the player that this team needs me to be. And um I’m definitely not going to uh slow down till I’m that and more. So uh I’m excited about the opportunity at hand. I’m excited about the team that we’re building. I’m excited about where this organization is right now. Um, just all that to say, I know I know we got, you know, a long a long way to go at the same time, but, um, we’re building something. We got a great culture. Um, and, you know, I appreciate, you know, that that statement, but definitely work and, uh, things behind the scenes that are going to, you know, keep that um, you know, I guess put some uh, um, power to that statement. So, uh, let’s definitely, uh, slow down comparing me to John Elway for now. But, uh, I co coach VJ, he’s he’s unbelievable. He’s a great coach, great encourager to his team, and that’s why guys love playing for him. Hey, Parker, on the broadcast against the Chiefs that I think Tracy Wilson mentioned you spent the miniby working on like command, communication, cadence, what does that mean to you and how do you sort of work on those things, you know, during a season? Well, it’s uh you know, as a quarterback, it’s it’s ultimately our job to make sure the play is run well, run efficiently, and uh you know, gets done what it’s supposed to get done. So, um starts in the huddle, starts having a great huddle, communication, guys knowing what they’re doing, cuz it’s not that guys don’t know what they’re do. They wouldn’t be out here if they didn’t know what they were doing. So, they always know the play. if you’re clear with it, tell them the play, operate, and usually a a well-run huddle is going to be a well-run play. So, you got to get out there and um you know, starts with the huddle, good break, get lined up, get set, make sure you got enough play uh time on the play clock, and then um go from there. And I think when you attack that, when you you know, treat that as the most important thing, when you, you know, treat those little details as, you know, really important, that’s when the plays become really important. Um and I feel like we’ve done a great job of that. you know, we’ve uh um talked all year about, you know, how we can get better, all this kind of stuff, how we can operate. And I think it just starts with the little things. And the guys have gotten back to the little things. We’re excited. We’re eager. We’re trying to find ways to get better. It starts with the communication and the command of the huddle. Um and then obviously cadence goes with all that and that’s communicating the cadence. And then, you know, it’s another way to get the defense um you know, on their heels. But ultimately, every good play starts at the beginning. starts with everybody knowing it, everybody on the same page, and then that way you can go out there and execute it. We’re all talented enough to go out there and execute the play when we know what we’re doing and we’re when we’re are all on the same page. So excited to continue to building with that. Um thought our, you know, command and communication and process um was uh actually very efficient and uh pretty good last week. Um and then there’s other ways we can fix to score points, but that part, you know, I was pleased about.

God bless Bo Nix
Kobe mentality 💛🖤
Bo’s a natural at what he does!
God bless the defense! And thank you, Defense.
Bo Nix is not only a good (maybe great) NFL quarterback, but he also seems like a really good guy. He is not a rah-rah guy; he just goes out there on Sunday and gets the job done. That does remind me of Elway so VJ's comments seem fairly valid. From what I can tell, the only thing about Elway BO does not have is the arm. He already beat Elways rookie win record, and he has become Mr. Comeback. That was John Elway. When John was on the field, you always thought you were going to win, for 16 years. He still needed Terrell Davis and Mike Shanahan to win a SB in his fourth try.
Broncos dropping 35 this Sunday. Bos biggest game to date.

I'm a Bo-liever!
I love it. The most well spoken qb in his class. Bo knows!!!
You need to learn to be more tougher and go in extreme weather and do certain drills and practices I don't know I just don't see it that there is not no emotional turmoil and a mental he doesn't seem very enthusiastic when it comes to being under extreme adversity I can understand why Nick the commentator is against him because his demeanor and focus just doesn't seem to add up I understand it I don't know about next is going to survive 5 years much less 10 years I don't think he's the quarterback for the broncos like they need to pick up another number one pick in the draft coming up
Got a lot of work still to do boys!!
One of the few smiles from Bo when he's compared to Elway. Knowing he has a ways to go shows how humble this guy really is. A nice little reminder to have the play call in on time. Brilliant
Go Broncos ❤.
You know how to win, go out there and get it done.
Go Bo!
Go Broncos!
Love you! Kick butt!
What even was that first question lol?? "Hey Bo the temp is supposed to be the same as that time you took a vacation when you were 12, how can you use that this week vs the Commanders" like be serious 😂
Broncos win 31-13
Let’s actually play all 4 quarters and not a slog of overthrows and screen passes. This defense needs a complete offense
Fire the audio engineer.
