Mike Brown on Knicks ‘ugly’ win over Milwaukee

Ugly game, you know, you give me
walk, you a lot of credit they came in and put up a great fight. I told our guys, they did a heck
of a job. Find a way, you know, Milwaukee came out seem like they can miss anything from anywhere.
Especially the three-point line, you know, guys, stay together.
Stay Together, Stay Together, stay connected and they kind of
weathered the storm. They didn’t Panic at all. Even though the game look really
easy for me walking, we just kept trying to find a
way to score and obviously Jane was big for scoring the
basketball with the 37 points. But verse good team, you got to find
different ways to win. It’s big because we want the
possession game tonight. We want to 15 to 34 and that helped
create the separation or ability to offensive rebound,
you know, at with 14 of them was huge and 14 offensive
rebounds for 22. Good chance points. That was probably the Difference
Maker and when it comes to scoring for us in the
Ballgame, but a lot of great individual
performances, especially defensively, biased, Josh analysis, tough cover for
anybody, especially when you’re given up,
six seven inches or whatever Josh is giving up, he
fought all night. He was actually out defensive player of
the game but I thought that Two biggest plays the game for
cats offensive rebound. You know his offensive rebound
and late in the game was going to be a one possession game if
they got that, but you get softens rebound. I think puts us
up by four, but more importantly than that, he stole the jump ball, you know, his awareness. His feel to be able to come up
with that steel was huge and that really put
them in a hole is now two two possession game. Our ball. And, you know, if we score
actors they could turn in a three-possession game or
whatever and create some separation. So I do cat, I said a sometimes
it’s going to be your night. Sometimes it’s not, you know, he
had nine points tonight but he had arguably two of the
biggest plays down the stretch, in the ball game when it comes
to doing something besides scoring
and and great teams, great players, find a way to make your team
great. By doing something other than
scoring and Cat. Did that tonight with offense Rebound in
the and the stealing of the jump
ball This is what I think the third
time that our second time that you’ve been out here, but coming
off the bench, I just want to know if what have you thought of that. Configuration, brief time,
you’ve got to see it. I’d like what I’ve seen so far,
Mitch is giving us a great punch Off the Bench and you know and then to his ability
offensive rebound against starters or backups is
huge for us. And so he has to keep Keep bringing
that to the table. So you just gives us, give us different. Look with our starting lineup and
then gives us a different look when we go to the bench, you know, no b**** works a lot
on this Rico’s, he did in the offseason. What are you
seeing in the game? And this was
like, wait doesn’t practice, doesn’t
translate to the game, it’s just going to take time.
He’s and then we have a really good shooting coach. Mitch works
really hard at it and you know, obviously during a
game, you know it’s It’s a little different in terms of,
you know how tired you are, because the
running and the energy and the building and you know,
you’re exciting all those other
things but he works really hard at it
and shoots it well in practice. And and I have the utmost confidence
in him and he’s going to get to a point where
he’s going to be in Rhythm and he’s going to knock it down because he’s working at it and
he’s getting great direction from our staff. Obviously Blitz, Jalen, all the
fourth of all the fourth and yeah, early on guys weren’t
making child abuse. Get the past, but eventually it kind
of broke through it. How happy were you with him with
ten? Just take what the game is. Giving him and able to
finish it off with all the attention, he was getting. Yeah, I said this at the beginning, you know, he
should be talked about right now and it’s early but as, you know, potential MVP. And you know, there’s not enough
chatter which It’s early. So I’m not throwing
a fit. But I mean, the guy had 37 and night on 12
to 21 and he gets blitzed often, you
know, he makes the right basketball
play. So he basically did what he’s
supposed to do and that’s why I don’t talk
about it a lot because that’s what he’s capable of doing. And
that’s what he’s supposed to do being of that stature. But, you
know, hopefully you guys and Your peers will start really talking the
right way about this young man in terms of him, having some MVP talk because
that’s what he is, you know, we’re about playing the best
basketball right now, but we’re trending in the right direction
and he’s the engine behind it. And
so, to me, he just did what he’s
supposed to do, which equates, to him being the MVP of the league. Tyler. But Tyler’s played played well.
I, you know, we were trying to obviously win
the game and so it was Milwaukee because we both wanted
to advance in the cop and, you know, I didn’t play him as
long as much as I wanted to tonight, but the last two games,
when he’s got minutes, he’s been really good
defensively. He’s been real physical without fouling. He’s been really good. Pushing the
basketball, and distributing the basketball while getting us
into our offense. And, and So you know, I expect nothing but that from
him when we rest Jalen and and again, I wish I had played a
little longer tonight, but 10 minutes is pretty good run. It’s you know again Our group was pretty tough, you
know, I meant Miami’s playing great
basketball Milwaukee with the honest and
whole lineup especially is playing really good basketball.
So, you know, to try to go after
something and know that. Hey, we want to go try to win
these games and then the go do it. Like I say it is trying to manufacture a little
bit of pressure so that we can embrace it and handle it the
right way, and our guys have been really good about
About it, you know, I think we’ll end up playing in
Toronto, you know, for for that quarterfinal round and I’m excited about it there.
They’re just as hot as anybody in this
league or good team and the coaches staff. Don’t a heck
of a job. So we’re looking forward to playing up there and
putting ourselves in position to try to go get a win. You know, I should have surely of my, you know, I’m long-winded Derek
but I’m excited about this because, you know, we early in the You’re
talking about my progressives to, I never had. I had a pair of
progressives and I hated them, but now I have them and I don’t know if you guys noticed
but I hadn’t I didn’t have to do this one time. It’s so good. I design I design of
Westchester. They provided me with my Progressive. And this is
even when I was in the locker room, talking to
players. I had my I had my Statute in front of me and I had
not had to grab my glasses and take them off and look, At the stat sheet in the last game gamer so Sao Paulo.

Knicks head coach Mike Brown met the media after what he termed was an “ugly game” in New York’s 118-109 win over Milwaukee. What impressed him most was the “guys staying together.” Brown did praise several of his players, especially Jalen Brunson and his “MVP-like” performance with 37 points. Josh Hart for battling Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo on the defensive end and Karl-Anthony Towns for a pair of crucial rebounds late in the fourth quarter.

  1. You need to start doing a better job of balancing your lineups! You keep how you’re doing and our season’s gonna come crashing! And it’s all gonna be because of you! Get it together!!

  2. I just want to know when is Diawara, Tson and Jemison III going to get meaningful minutes? Especially Diawara bc I’m starting to see Deja Vu with the rotations Ijs

  3. He is beginning to coach just like Thibs. Starting lineup playing well over 30 minutes each; playing a small lineup for extended periods; relying too much on Brunson; not guarding the 3 point line and not requiring KAT to play defense.

  4. If players like Mitch could put their ego aside and learn to free throw underhand , He could bump his percentage up into the mid-70s or even to the low '80s.. once playoff time comes, you can't play Mitch in late tight games cuz they'll just play hack-a-shaq
on him… Freaking ego can cost so many games
