NO ONE saw this coming…

No one saw this coming as we have a shocking New York Yankees free agency trade update to go over as someone very close to the Yankees has revealed something that none of us were looking at throughout this free agency period thus far. But now with trade rumors heating up, there is a lot to go over on this Yankee situation. As we all know, the Yankees do have one of the biggest glaring holes of any single contending team at their shortstop position. And the Yankees do have a solution to this plan, and it’s absolutely wild. But guys, before we jump into the video, if you’re part of that 69% that’s not subscribed, make sure to subscribe to Yankees Digest so you don’t miss a single New York Yankees update. We’re covering everything that has anything to do with the New York Yankees all off season and season long, all year long, every single day. You don’t want to miss out on Yankees content. But let’s jump into the video, guys. There is a lot to talk about on the Yankees right now because obviously it’s going to be a crucial free agency and now we have seen a new target appear for the New York Yankees. someone who has found himself in Yankee rumors before and with a whole lot surrounding the team right now and a lot of trade talk surrounding him at these winter trade conversations, these GM meetings, all this stuff. There has been a whole lot getting brought up that would be an absolute robbery for the New York Yankees. And you probably recognize his face as Fernando Tatis because we have a huge update to go over where Michael K said you need a right-handed batter. Fernando Tatis is 26 years old. He’ll be 27 in the beginning of January. He’s a brilliant outfielder. He plays right. He could play left easily. We know that he came up as a shortstop, so he could do that, too. At the end of 2020, he signed a 14-year deal for $340 million. And at the time, people were a gasast. A gasast. Not anymore. I would make a phone call to AJ Prowler. What do you need? What do you want? We’ve got a deep farm system. He’s got a no trade clause through 2028. I think with with his theatrical flare, he would wave that clause to go to the Yankees. Now, I agree with Kay that he would wave the clause to go to the Yankees. After all, the Yankees have been more successful than the San Diego Padres’s. But it also depends, does he want to play shortstop? Because if the Yankees traded for Fernando Tatis Jr., he would be playing shortstop with this team. The Yankees have a deep outfield and still do really want to bring back Cody Bellinger regardless of this situation. And when we look at Tatis, the man absolutely is excellent. He’s an elite glove. Had a 5.9 war last season with a 268 batting average and a non-base percentage of 368. So, he can lead off for the Yankees. Gives them their right-handed leadoff hitter who could run the bases incredibly well. Had 25 home runs and 32 stolen bases. So, the perfect guy to lead off for the Yankees right here. Especially if you do resign Cody Bellinger. Put him out in that left field spot. have judging right, Trent Gisham in center field. Gisham and Tatis have played together before on the Padres’s and on top of that Tatis gets to move back to shortstop while the Yankees Yeah. third base is still Ryan McMahon and then you have second base with Jazz and first base with Ben Rice. That team is stacked up. Tatis leads off. You have Bellinger second, Judge third, Rice fourth, Stanton fifth, Jazz sixth. at that point there’s a lot of lefties towards the end. So you kind of because there’s you still have Gish, you still have you still have Ryan McMahon as well, but you you’d be able to figure it out. So I’m not too worried about that. Also Austin Wells as well. So there would be a lot of lefties in the back end of that lineup right there. But I do imagine the Yankees would know how to manage the situation. They are very good at going lefty righty regardless. And Tatis is an actual option for a leadoff hitter. There’s not too many out there. The other one would be the Yankees signing Bo Bashette who also solves the shortstop problem, albeit he is errorprone. And a trade was brought up for Tatis as well, which is a complete and utter robbery for the Yankees when you look at it. The Yankees acquire Tatis, giving up Jason Dominguez, who really doesn’t fit with the Yankees, it feels like right now. Carlos Lraange, their number two prospect, which would hurt. Dex Kilby who is a very very young prospect to the Yankees recently drafted gives the Padres’s a shorts stop who the Yankees really did like and picked high up in the draft and Henry Lane who was a very interesting pitcher their number nine prospect. Yeah, it would take three top 10 prospects to give to get Fernando Tatis but it might take even more than that. It wouldn’t be shocking if it did take more for the Yankees to get this deal done. But if this was the offer, I would do it without even thinking twice. You get your leadoff hitter. get your shorts stop. You solve so many problems here so quickly. I would imagine this would have to take George Lombard Jr. if you ask me. I would imagine that instead that we would see a bit of a different shakeup. Lane makes sense. I don’t think Lraange would go. I don’t think Kilby would go. I think Lombard would. I do imagine Dominguez would. And I don’t think it would be Spencer Jones, but I do think it would be somebody else in that top 10 as well that we would see end up getting traded off of the team or just Will Warren in a general sense. Obviously, he’s not a prospect anymore, but he’s a young pitcher. So, at the same time, I could see that happen where it’s Dominguez, Warren, Lumbard, and Lane actually does make a lot of sense to me as a trade. I want to know what you guys think about that deal. Would you do it as Yankee fans? Klein, Chris Klein did talk about this whole deal. And look, he mentioned if the Yankees were to use him as an outfielder, it wouldn’t negate their need to reunite with Cody Ballinger, who might be more expensive than they’d like given his outstanding 2025 and pinstripes. On the other hand, Balinger’s 31 may not be as expensive as some fear he will be. Aaron Judge and Trent Gisham will make up right and center field with just left field remaining a question mark. If they choose to use him as shortstop, they could stealthily phase out current shortstop Anthony Vulpi, who struggled this past season with a shoulder injury. if he bounces back upon his summer return. Wonderful. And if not, they would have a very strong alternative. Now, Kevin Ace did mention that a report earlier in the week became talking became a talking point as the possibility mushroomed, it would wound through the vast expanse of the worldwide web and made its way to the general. I don’t know why this guy’s talking like this and it’s making me absolutely furious, but effectively someone who writes for San Diego did say that one Padre source said emphatically on Wednesday that they don’t plan to trade Tatis and multiple team sources said over the past two days that the idea of moving their all-star right fielder and one of the most popular players in the major leagues has not been discussed internally or with other teams this off season which makes sense. At the same time, Chris Klein did say righty Carlos Lraange, the Yankees number two prospect, and lefty Lane figured to tempt the Padres’s though. Both stand at 6’7, offering unique extension and delivery angles. Lraange can push to 102 mph on his fastball, while Lane doesn’t operate with that same pure power, but he is an incredible athlete with potentially elite offspeing was New York’s number one prospect a couple of years ago. He’s not off to the most explosive start in the MLB, but he finished his 2025 campaign with a 719 OPS and a 101 OPS plus at just 22 years old. He’s a simple right field solution for the Padres’s. And although he’s more of a center fielder and a propensity for strikeouts, and fielding errors has dampened his value to the point of being a potential trade headliner rather than being off limits as a building block in New York, which is fair and still. Well, that’s why I’m saying I would like to see I or I’d imagine the Yankees would have to add a little bit more here. Now, Carlos Lraange obviously a phenomenal pitcher. The man throws some absolute fire with 120 innings pitched. Last season in the minors, he had 168 strikeouts. The man figures to be an elite strikeout pitcher. Whether he grades out as a relief pitcher or a starter is up in the air. While at the same time, Henry Lane dealt in his seven starts in the minors this season with a 233 ERA. The man was great and he did get some strikeouts as well in that span. So, Lane looked good as well. Lane also expects the grade out. Probably is a relief guy, but this is the type of trade for the Yankees that fixes just 95% of your problems instantly. And every single Yankee fan should be in on it. Are you? 1. He also popped for PEDs and hasn’t been as good since. I think the Padres would be more than happy to get rid of him and his contract but Yankees are not taking him.

  2. As far as this move? So basically to save Hal some money at the cost of prospects that, if they simply go after Bellinger or Tucker, would cost just money? Typical Hal move. The reason why the Dodgers have been so successful is that they buy free agents so they can use their prospects to fill additional needs. They don't use their prospects to fill primary needs for big ticket players. That's why the Dodgers, despite winning back to back world series, also currently rank no. 1 in terms of farm system (imagine that). If Hal doesn't want to spend what he can (and I don't want to hear about Yankees not making money or "poor me" from Hal) to realistically compete with the Dodgers for the next 4-5 years then maybe he should trade all his front end players for a boatload of prospects and reset for when this current crop of Dodgers likely will be aging out.

  3. Why would you bring back Cody Bellinger when His Agent Scott Boras was Quoted saying my Clients wants 450 Million I understand the fit he has proven he can play in New York BUT IF You sign him to that amount he wants then he would be making more than the American League 2025 MVP Aaron Judge, you can't sign Kyle he want's the same amount as well or more, and neither Can Equate to Aaron Judge it makes no since. Hal STEINBRENNER KNOWS HE WILL GO WAY Over the threshold IF HE Signs Tatsuya Imai ,Kyle and Cody before 2026 Spring training. Fernando Tatis makes since because he is already under contract. Tatis has not played Shortstop since 2021and was below average at that position.

  4. What lie did you hear this from now again every day something new and none of it comes true you gotta stop using this for ratings. Just say what it is. The Yankees have no more money according to Hal

  5. Tatis is a big swing and miss guy, and when is the last time he played short? I don’t want him. Why can’t the Yankees land a bat on ball guy? Are there any of these smart type hitters left out there, Like Steven Kwan?

  6. While Tatis would be an awesome get, at the same time, why would the Padres trade him? There’s no good reason nor would the Yanks overwhelm them with prospects to shake him loose. This fits into the category of “Highly unlikely”.

  7. So let me get this straight so that idiot brian cashman would trade away a player who can his bombs out of the ballpark but can't field the ball for a player who can field the ball but can't hit for shit 🤔🙄🤦🏽‍♂️ how in the hell would that be a win……..🤷🏽‍♂️ i would rather keep jasson dominguez because at least he puts points on the board and don't even entertain that idiotic idea of trading him away for fernando tatis jr. But as he's show countless times again that idiot brain big bird cashman is incapable of making smart decisions. Just like hal steinbrenner is incapable of making smart decisions like spending big money on big name free agents. To quote frank sinatra: THAT'S LIFE IT'S THE STUPID YANKEES WAY.
