The Winnipeg Jets are Cooked
[Music] the Winnipeg Jets Stanley Cup contender window is closed and uh you know along with the playoff contention window I’d argue as well unless something absolutely drastic happens here but we’re looking at a team that has one functioning line uh you know with Kyle Connor, Mark Shley and Gabe Valardi and that bottom nine is absolutely useless. They cannot buy a goal to save their lives. There is zero production coming from the bottom nine. A veteran heavy bottom nine, might I add. We’ll talk about that later on. Connor Hellabuk going down. The Jets have been 0 and4. This is recorded before uh the game against Nashville on Saturday night. So, you know, win or lose uh you know, going into that one, they are 0 and4 without Connor Hobbuk stealing a couple games for them. They cannot score goals unless it is the top line or Josh Morrisy. Nothing is going here for the Winnipeg Jets and they have fallen all the way to the bottom of the league. They are at the time of making this video four points away from being number 32 in the NHL with the Nashville Predators, right? So, absolutely bottom of the league Gavin McKenna territory, which you know, hey, that kind of guy would kind of help the franchise, would it not? We’ll talk about that a little bit later on as well. But the reason the Jets are where they are this year is because of their roster construction. That bottom nine is a huge anchor. The hole that Nikolai Eers left was never properly filled. The Jets went out and they signed Jonathan Taves, you know, just betting on him to be the 2C this year. Um, and it has not worked out, right? I mean, Logan Stanley has more points than Jonathan Taves this year. Uh, obviously points aren’t everything there, but Jonathan Taves, for the most part, has been largely ineffective. uh more of a bottom six player at this point in his career. Gustav Nyquist, you know, a lot of people were defending this signing saying, “Hey, he’s two years removed from a 70point season in Nashville.” Uh, you know, which is true, but what has he done this season? Six points, right? No goals yet. He’s he’s had a lot of uh top six time here. Hasn’t been able to bury one. Um, again, bottom six signing, right? He’s on the fourth line right now with Jonathan Taves, might I add. Tanner Pearson kind of just at the end of the ropes here. I never really liked that signing. Cole Capeki, more of the 13th forward type guy. I’ve liked him. I think he’s a good fourth liner for what he is. Uh but again, guy that’s not really going to change too much for you. But all three of those signings basically fourth line additions in a year where you’re going for it in a year removed from the President’s Trophy. And at the end of the day, this is what’s sinking the Jets big time. They’re getting no production, no offense outside of that top line. And I’m not the only one that’s noticed that, you know, the two Moose guys that show up in Salammonson and Militch are showing way more fight and way more heart than a lot of guys on this team. Uh this is a veteran heavy jets team that just kind of feels lifeless out there. Doesn’t feel like there’s any fire in these guys. is, you know, we see Adam Lowry trying to, you know, spark something, you know, getting in fights here against Minnesota. And, you know, he’s trying, but there’s nothing there’s just no passion out of that bottom nine out of a lot of players on the team. The defense isn’t, you know, exempt from uh criticism either. But, you know, if you look all over this lineup, that top line is playing their ass off. Thomas Milich came into the game, hats off to him, against a very good team in Carolina. gave the Jets a chance to win that game in his first NHL start. I thought he did really good. You know, you got to, you know, tip your cap to that guy. Gutty situation for him. Um, you know, but unfortunately the Jets did not show up that night. Scott O’Neal was very critical as well, uh, of Dylan Dlo. Seems like that was a shot taken at him in the, you know, post game, saying that some players didn’t show up on time. Salammonson played with Josh Morsy, looked really good. But again, Salammonson and Milich, two of the jets that I thought showed the most fire and the most fight and played the best uh you know, just a night ago against uh the Carolina Hurricanes. And on a veteran heavy team here, you know, you kind of expect more from these guys. Connor Hella has always been able to bail out this Jets team. I mean, that’s been the story since day one, since he showed up on the scene. and uh you know without him without getting you know you you know those extra one or two saves per game that you need you know we’re seeing what the Jets are right now they’re a oneline team with you know two backup goalenders essentially in net right now and it’s just a really tough situation you know I could definitely see the Jets going out and trying to save their season try to make a trade I don’t really know what’s out there that would move the needle um but you know they they definitely could they could try to spark uh get a spark in their lineup they could go on a run of wins but I just don’t see this team as a playoff team right now, especially where they’re at, especially given the West and their division. They’re in the toughest division in the NHL. And this team is just not good enough to make the playoffs in my eyes as it is right now. And um you know, even if they do make the playoffs, good luck getting through the first round. This group does not belong there. And this does really feel like a transition year uh more than anything here. And I expect the Jets to be sellers come March. And to be totally honest, that is not the worst case scenario. Honestly, this might be the best case scenario. The Jets have a lot of guys with one year left on their deals that they could sell at the deadline. Guys that I do think that teams, you know, trying to make the playoffs would trade for and pay pretty nice prices for. Saw what the Jets paid for Luke Shen last year. I know he’s been terrible, but, you know, he was terrible a season ago, too. Um, I can definitely see a team, you know, trading them a third for him. And obviously, that’s not eyepopping stuff or anything, but it’s way more than you should be able to get for Luke Shen. Uh, you know, it is definitely a sellers market as we saw last year. I don’t really expect that to change. The Jets have some assets, including Logan Stanley, a 6 foot7 defenseman that has nine points on the year. You know, youngish enough, right? I can totally see a team, you know, paying for Logan Stanley, right? General managers love their tall defenseman. They love their big guys. I can totally see that, right? I can see the Jets being able to recoup, you know, a lot of assets for these guys that really aren’t doing much for them this season. And, you know, come the draft next year, maybe you win the lottery, maybe you get a franchise altering guy to stick in there, really accelerate the retool, and maybe you have a better shot next year. At the very least, you have a more fun team, right? You’re still going to have Connor Hellbuck. You’re still going to have that top line who’s locked up long term. Maybe some of these young guys start to break out a little bit if you play them a little bit more, add some pieces in the off season. all of a sudden, hey, you know what? Doesn’t look so grim, right? But right now, this Jets team is boring. They’re slow. They’re unmotivated. And it’s just time for change. The give a level is at an all-time low here, and uh I just don’t really see it changing. I can see the Jets going on a bit of a heater. I can see them wanting to bring somebody in to try to spark this lineup, but again, I don’t think it’s going to be enough. And if they do make the playoffs, they’re not going far. As I said, um it’ll be first round exit. Absolutely. Colorado this year, they’re they’re an absolute freak of a team. Dallas, you know, they’re the Dallas Stars. They’re always going to be very good. They’ve been very consistent this year with the rising of the Chicago Blackhawks, the Utah Mammoth, you know, I just don’t I just don’t see it this year for the Jets. And it’s unfortunate. I had a blast watching the Jets last year, cheering for the Jets. But I just really think this year we all got to come to grips with reality. this team is not going anywhere. Doesn’t matter who they bring in. Even if you bring in like, I don’t know, like Alex Tucker or something like that. It’s just not going to happen for this Jets team. It would be a waste of assets. You know, if they move their first round pick, that would be probably the dumbest thing they could do right now as they, you know, where they are in the standings. That could really be a big-time player. So, I really hope the Jets hold on to that. I don’t see that first round pick leaving unless, you know, they win like 13 in a row or something here. Um, but right now really does feel like we are at a transition point with the Winnipeg Jets. But what do you guys think? I think the Jets are, you know, probably not going to be a playoff team this year. I’m I’m seeing, you know, top 10 pick in their future. But I want to hear from you guys. Do you think the Jets can somehow turn this around, go on a Cinderella run, make something happen, or do you think it’s time for change? Let me know down below in the comments. And uh, yeah, guys, that’s all I’ve got. Leave a like and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already. I’ll see you guys in the next one. Go Jets go.
The Winnipeg Jets are coming off of a season where they were President Trophy winners. This year? They’re near the bottom of the NHL. Lots of factors have caused their dramatic fall off, and with it, their window to be contenders.

Are the Jets cooked?
They really… REALLY need depth. We cant have our second line being run by 3rd and 4th liners. We cannot keep struggling to put the puck in the net. Helly being out just hurts it even more because we can’t score our way to wins like Edmonton has done before.
Play more young guys and see what you got. Try and be a seller and not a buyer at the trade deadline and look to next year. I don't know what the Jets facination is with seemingly wanting to be the geriatric ward of the NHL, but they gotta stop.
Get Toilet Paper (70) and NyQuil (14) tf off my team.
