UTAH Meets Marque: the *NEW* voice of Delta Center 🎤🏡 | UTAH JAZZ #AllAccess presented by @Delta
[Interviewer] What went through your head when you found out that you would now be the new voice of the team? Elation. I mean, pure, pure elation. I am a voiceover artist as well. And so I cite that because I audition every week, and I know what it is to get rejection. When I got the call, I can’t express to you, sitting here in this chair, the elation that I felt, the confirmation that I’ve gotten from, learning that the job is mine. …state your name and, first name. Last name. I’m the new PA announcer for the Jazz. We’re good to go. I’m Marque Denmon, the Jazz new PA announcer. And Jazz fans I’m excited to be in Salt Lake, and we’re got to turn Delta Center upside down. Wow, you have a great voice. How does it feel to be the new PA announcer for the Utah Jazz? Exhilarating. Fulfilling. This is my calling, to be able to be on a platform and stage in a market like Salt Lake, that’s very, very passionate, and very, very ardent fans of the organization. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the East High School. Can you describe what your announcing style is? Get on your feet everyone! And let’s give a round of applause for Utah Jazz Bear! A voice of power. Magnetic. Electric. That’s my goal. That’s my style. I really don’t have a father to my style. I’ve grafted my style from various different sources to make the Go! the signature style that I’ve come up with over 18 years. Everybody! Everybody hold your positions. We have some unexpected new arrivals. Students and faculty from each high school let’s welcome to the court you’re 2025-2026 Utah Jazz! In the role of PA, the first job is to inform the people. I take care of that first, and then I, invoke my style, my energy, all the things of those various elements that makes a real good PA. Let’s get it on! And a good PA knows how to read the room. You know, like a good classroom teacher or a DJ who’s hosting a set and hosting a party the PA knows how to read the room. So adaptability is very key. How does one read the room? That’s the secret sauce. You know what I mean? But you’ve got to be able to adapt because each environment is somewhat different. I happen to PA for various, different sports. Six to be exact. And so, women’s volleyball is going to be different from boxing or the NBA or the WNBA. Let’s get a little clap here. Marque interview. Dan Roberts audition. One two. One two. Amber. Evergreen. Indigo. Olive. My name is Mark Sans Denmon. And, I’m from Stone Mountain, Georgia. So, when looking for a new public address announcer, there are several things we’re looking for. One, is we want someone to be incredibly excited and passionate about Utah Utah Jazz basketball. We also are looking for a very powerful voice, because this voice has to be heard over 19,000 cheering fans every night. When we opened this search process, we were very impressed. We had over 180 applicants for this position, and it was an international search, which was very exciting for us to be able to have so many talented individuals be interested to contribute to the Jazz. How are you doing, sir? -Chris.
-Marque Denmon. Good to meet you, Chris. Marque. We created a run of show that we felt was the most important parts. -You’ve got pronunciation sheets. Both rosters. So that included team introductions. Visiting team. Home team. Your starters for your Utah Jazz! We included several sponsorship reads, and then we included game film as well. Three! The role of public address announcer is really crucial to game nights. They are the person that sets the tone and the excitement for the entire evening. They’re the ones that are helping to generate that home court advantage. So I think this whole process is quite a challenge because Dan Roberts was a legendary voice that’s been with us for 46 seasons. So this new person is coming in and filling some really big shoes. It would mean a great, great deal of responsibility to come in and serve the Salt Lake and the Jazz community. My voice has a lot of energy, authenticity, and what you’re going to find, Jazz fans, is that you’re going to witness power. And to come and have a great experience here in Delta Center. We’re very excited for all of our Jazz fans to come back in October, to the arena, and hear our brand new voice of the Utah Jazz. Hendricks. My man. He wears the oh-zero. Keyonte. My dude. What’s up, man? Marque Denmon. Good to meet you.
-Will. Good to meet you too. When you are a part of a process of anything, and you come to completion and, you’re able to be the chosen one, I can’t tell you, or fully articulate, the thrill that I felt. The fulfillment that I received from that. I’m just truly excited to be here and to be the PA for the Utah Jazz. So when you come Delta Center, get ready for powerful, magnetic, electrifying environment. Be ready. Marque Denmon, who is now the new arena voice of the Utah Jazz. To come in and sit on the shoulders of Dan Roberts, a man who did this job for 46 years. Let’s hear it for Dan Roberts. My man. Good to see y’all tonight. Yes sir. Everyone. Let’s go. Joining me right now is Marque Denmon, and you are the new voice of this arena. To everyone here inside of Delta Center, let’s get ready to turn up! Wow! Evan Scott Kevin Cutler and Gina… My pre-game ritual is this: I like to go and get quiet time and just go back over my rosters and make sure that I have all my pronunciations and everything necessary to be accurate. And then I go over, an exercise that I’ve always done for 20 plus years, which is tongue twisters. “I’m not the banjo player, I’m only the banjo player’s mate. I’m only playing the pretty banjo player’s banjo because the pretty banjo player is running pretty late.” “I’m not the banjo player, I’m only the banjo player’s mate. I’m only playing the pretty banjo player’s banjo because the pretty banjo player is running pretty late.” These kinds of things are exercises that I take myself through to be the crème de la crème the cream of the crop when it comes to PA announcing. Have a good one, man. -You as well. Have a great call, man. Thank you. My man. And now it’s time for your starting lineups. Introducing to you first the seven footer from Finland. Number 23 Lauri Markkanen! He’s got such a strong, commanding voice. And, he sounds amazing. I think of all the guys that we interviewed and talked to. Like, his voice was definitely the best one. [Marque over PA] And at guard, six foot four, from Baylor number three, Keyonte George! He’s been great to work with, very professional like, and he’s so excited to be here to like he he couldn’t be more grateful and couldn’t be more excited every game. What a night. Opening night win. Decisively. The Jazz right here on my first night. Great game tonight. Love it. Sat at the table with Dan for the last ten years, ten plus years or so. And of course, this is my first year sitting here with Mark. And it’s been it’s been great so far and I’m excited for what’s to come with him. Now, Dan Roberts was here from the beginning. And I think what’s very important is that you’re not going to be Dan. Right?
-Correct. You’re going to be you. Yo!
-Man! I can’t believe this. I’m having the opportunity to replace the best that ever do this. The Michael Jordan of PA announcing. I’ve been studying you for a long, long time. Really? That’s so cool. After all the years, you get to a spot and you may be there, I’m not sure, but you get to a spot, I don’t care how many people are listening to me. They hooked up Armed Forces Radio, and one of the, in one of the finals games, and the guy said, I think there’s about 7-8 million people listening to you right now. And I thanked him profusely for not telling me that prior to introductions. Right. I have no fear of public speaking. I could stand up and do anything in front of anybody without a moment’s hesitation. It was easy. Yes. It’s just kind of like our safe space. Yes. I wouldn’t argue with that. Us as PA announcers, If you, love public speaking, it’s a natural space for you. Oh, easy.
-Yes. You know, I would jump out of the, seat every now and then. And then we used to do some halftime stuff. Or, you know, I’d go on on court. No biggie. -None. I’m done. I got to go sit down now, Thea. You know? I have so many things I want just to run by you and stuff, man. You know what I’m saying? If whatever you not able to give me today I’m always… -I want to be I want to make that, long term if we can. My man. Thank you. Right? Right. Right, right. Love you, man.
-My man. Love you more, Mr Roberts, man. You the man. -Thank you. You the dude, man.
-Thank you. You’re that guy.

I miss ball jack
Go jazz
Dan Roberts was a legend. Big shoes to fill but I’m excited for Marque to fill them!
🐐🐐🐐
Well he still don't know how to pronounciate Svi's last name. It kinda irks me when I hear it in the broadcast. But otherwise interesting video. Even if I have never been in Delta Center and most likely won't ever come to be there 😄
I hope he stays with us jazz fans for a long long time. ❤️
