Hello! I will be in Calgary (and Edmonton but I know I shouldn't speak of that here) in January following the Islanders.
Planning to hit Banff on the day in between the games. Any other recommendations? I know there is some 88 olympic stuff, so any recommendations around that as well. It'll be the full day of the game and I'm flying back to NY at noon the following day. Looking forward to seeing the Saddledome!
Edit: Didn't even realize the type on peace until after hitting post!

Happy hour for the flames game ends 30 mins before puck drop
My only advice is to cancel the Edmonton leg. It has no redeeming qualities.
That jersey with the patches is awesome. Hope you have a great time. You will enjoy the dome, it’s people, and history much more than anything Edmonton has to offer.
Driving from Calgary to Banff to Edmonton in a day? Or one night at each city? Because if it’s the first, that’s gonna suck. I like driving as much as anyone but no thanks
They used to have a Olympics mini museum inside one of the ski jump towers, but it closed a number of years ago. Winsport (Olympic Park) apparently has a museum but according to their website it’s closed to the public so I’m not sure where you can actually view any of that stuff anymore.
In Banff hit up the Elk & Oarsmen and then the hot springs. Hope you have fun!
Don’t go to Banff – it’s extremely overcrowded and overpriced. Canmore is about 15 minutes closer, way less busy and (in my opinion) a nicer place, and more affordable.
Banff is 99% tourists. It’s stressful AF to visit. Canmore feels way more normal.
Just my two cents. Enjoy!
I love the ambitious approach here. This isn’t a trip you do often and Banff/Lake Louise is absolutely worth it and doable.
What hotel are you staying at in Calgary? If it is near the Saddledome, you’ll lose valuable time coming into the city to drop your bags.
You might want to consider leaving Edmonton as early as possible, utilize the ring road (highway 201) to bypass Calgary completely and go straight to Banff/Lake Louise. Then spend the day there and come back to Calgary in the evening.
Keep in mind it will get dark early, sunset is around 5pm.
I watched a flames/islanders game at Nassau several years ago. Awesome experience. I hope our fans are as kind as yours were.
Not sure if I am Shadowbanned. If not, sweet Jersey. It is the good orange and blue.
88 brewery is a good time with great pizza. Nice retro vibes.
Your team somehow has worse jerseys than the Oilers. Probably the hardest thing to do in sports
