Houston Texans Just Caught A MAJOR Break…

All right, what is up everybody? Let’s talk a little Houston Texans football, a team that we cover on this channel. If you are new to this channel, my name is Craig. Me and my buddy Chris, we started this a few years ago. We’re Lions fans, and that’s actually why you see me wearing my Michigan gear. The game is on today. And uh by the way, Michigan won our national championship two years ago at your stadium. So, uh, NRG has I have some love for that stadium because some good stuff happened there, uh, for sure. But we love covering teams that the national media ignores. The Texans are absolutely one of those teams. And in today’s video, I want to cover a couple of things. We’re going to get into the matchups. We’re going to get into the Colts offense versus the Texans defense, which is a battle of the unstoppable force versus the immovable object, right? And that is what happens when you see a great offense play a great defense in what I believe to be the most intriguing matchup on the calendar uh this weekend in the NFL um that is played over the weekend that is played over the weekend. It is an extremely intriguing matchup and it might be just of the entire weekend period. But before we get into that, let’s talk about the really big break that the Houston Texans just caught. And before you argue with me, I’m telling you it is a massive, massive break. And that is that your quarterback CJ Strad has cleared concussion protocol. He will start all right. He will start for your Houston Texans this weekend. In fact, head coach Demo Ryan said so right here that uh told reporters Friday, that is yesterday. I’m recording this Saturday morning that Straoud will start for the Texans on Sunday against the host Indianapolis Colts in a massive AFC South showdown. Yep, he’s missed the last three games. We get all that. We understand it. I know that. But let’s have a conversation real quick about some of the things that I think people are saying because I hear a lot of people talking about like, oh, who should be the starter? you know, Davis Mills has played well and this and that. Okay, pause. We just need to pause for a second. I want to remind you what was happening before all of this before Strad gets the concussion and Davis Mills steps in. I would like to show you a little bit of what is happening. And let’s go to your schedule real quick to look at this before we go into a couple of other uh finer points of quarterback play. What people seem to realize is that yes, the Texans started 0 and3. The offense looked abysmal. In the four games before in the four games before he got injured, CJ Strad led the Texans to a three- one record. They blew out the Tennessee Titans. They blew out the Baltimore Ravens. They lost to at the time and still is a very good Seattle team on the road and it was a game. It was a good game. And then Straoud the game before he was hurt throws for 318 yards in a win against a now 8-4 8-4 San Francisco 49ers team. He is playing he was playing at a higher level. the offensive line was starting to mesh a little bit and giving him just enough time and then Davis Mills comes in and continues it. The a miracle comeback victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Just a phenomenal comeback victory and then tight wins against both the Titans and against the Bills. Now we can just go, you know, kind of spot for spot here. When Stout was the starter, he beat the Titans 26 nothing. when Davis Mills was the starter, it was 1613, right? Like I understand you can go the other way with Jacksonville, but that Tennessee game in week four is when this team started to turn things around. It really the offense started to go a little You started to see signs. It wasn’t that the offense became great overnight. And I don’t think the offense is going to be great this year. They need to in the offseason improve the offensive line, but having CJ Strad back is a big big deal. When you go to PFF, it’s going to say the same thing. CJ Stout is ranked 24th amongst 41 qualifying quarterbacks with a 68.3 overall grade. Okay, that is that is what he is. He’s rated as QB 19 in the weekly rank this weekend. And this includes the three games that were such a rough start. Meanwhile, Davis Mills, all right, and I just I want to I just want to look at a couple of these. He also adds a rushing grade component that an escapability that Davis Mills doesn’t quite have. Davis Mills is not bad. Admirable backup number 32 out of 40 quarterbacks and with a 62.1 overall grade. I am very excited to see what happens when CJ Stout comes back with a more full complement of players. You also have to remember that some of those games for Strow there was injuries in the wide receiver room. There were Christian Kirk was hurt for a time. Um, you know, like, uh, don’t even get me started on your best wide receiver. You see the jersey right there, Nico Collins. He was hurt for a second or at least banged up. So, like, all of these point to a good thing. How excited are you to see CJ Strad back in action? Um, cuz I know I am. All right. Now, I’m just gonna go ahead. This was a This is a pretty good article here. And I I want to I just want to talk real quick about um a couple of things just to show you how good these two teams are, both offense and defense. All right, let’s look at this 30,000 foot view here. Colts number one offense in points per game, number one offense in EPA per play, estimated points added, and success rate 40.7% against the Texans who enter the week number two in points allowed per game, number one in EPA per play, and number three in success rate. So, if you look at just EPA per play, on average, per play, the Colts score 0.15 more points than the average team. Whereas the Texans hold opponents to negative.146, almost the exact same amount. Now, let’s look at it just a little bit different. The Colts have scored on 55.5% of their possessions over the first month of the season. I don’t know if they punted. easily the best in the NFL and the highest since 2005. While the Texans have allowed opponents to score on 25.8% of their possessions, easily again the best in the NFL this season and one of the five lowest rates since 2018. So if you’re just looking at these and you’re squishing them together, you’re thinking that the Colts are going to score on about 40% of their possessions. The question is, can the Texans hold them to field goals? And can the Texans then in turn do enough of those things? This is very, very interesting. All right. More so, the Colts have scored 20 points in two of their last three games. They’re starting to sputter a little bit. Road losses to the Steelers and Chiefs, but the Colts have scored a ridiculous 60 on a ridiculous 67.4% 24% of their possessions in their five home games with 20 of those drives ending with a touchdown. Now, here’s what I will say with this game. This is a road game. This is at Indie. If there is a win here for the Texans, I would be hardpressed not to say that the Texans aren’t the ones that are going to be favored. All right? They’re not going to be the ones to be favored to win the division after the next two games are the hardest two games of the season. You have the Colts and then you have the Chiefs. The hardest two games left because they’re road games against the Colts and the Chiefs. I’ll throw this schedule back up there. Then it gets pretty easy at home against Arizona, at home against Vegas. Those should be easy victories for you. And then this at LA against the Chargers, this is a matchup dream for you at this point. The Chargers are without their two star tackles and your defense. The strength is your defensive edges. So, this should be a matchup that you should absolutely win. I think this is one of those games that you can win by two scores if I can be completely honest. And then it’s back to Indie at home. That is the beauty of the way schedule shapes up. you had a lot of your tougher games in the beginning and it’s nice it’s nice to be in a division that again it’s a better division than it’s been in the past that you’ve won the last two years but it still would be considered more of a mediocre division you’re two games back you have two games against that team you’re one game back um well I I think maybe you’re one game back of the Jags or half a game or something like that you have a game against them everything or no you don’t have a game against them but I’m not worried about them if I can be completely honest so everything is within your reach. Everything is within your grasp and you’ve got your star quarterback back. Things are looking up in Htown. Talk to you on the next one. Make sure you hit that subscribe button. See you later.

  1. You are giving Stroud to much credit. Titans are garbage. Baltimore didn't have their QB for that game. 49ers are an iffy team and I think Purdy missed that game..
Stroud looks scared when he plays.. not like his rookie year.

  2. Thanks for always showing love for our Texans! You give great insight on everything going on with them. Should be a great time watching that D flying all over the place. Watch out Jones and Taylor. Time to hunt. 😅

  3. I’m really not excited to see CJ over Mills tomorrow. You can’t just math this stuff out — you’ve actually got to watch the games.

With CJ, every time he’s under pressure you hold your breath. With Mills, you don’t get:

    Happy feet or panic steps.

Checkdowns on every tight window — he finds the right guy.

Off-target balls that kill YAC — Mills’ placement has been consistently better for our top receivers.

And no, the O-line didn’t magically ‘improve’ the last three games. It’s Mills’ pocket management, his rollout angles, and how he manipulates pressure that made the offense look functional.

I’m calling it: Texans lose by 17+, and if CJ gets a TD pass, it’ll be more luck than timing. If Houston wins, it’ll be because the DEFENSE shows up, not because CJ suddenly turned into a pressure-proof QB.
