YEAR ONE season three: the rookie’s FIRST NBA minutes 🏡🏔️ | UTAH JAZZ

[Music] Three highly touted rookies, each with something to prove. The spotlight’s coming, but the story begins here in year one. I’ve watched Ace from afar. Today was my first day getting a chance to see him up close. Actually just watched film on him as well and I’m really impressed. And it’s not from the high-flying dunks, not from the shot making ability. Um, it’s from a young guy who came in, you know, to work. And he came in to actually do that, to actually get better, to learn, to listen, and to go to work. He did a great job defensively today. He asked the right questions. I watched him go around ask coaches the right questions. And so, Loans Ace want to be a sponge. Loans ace put the work with that sponge. His talents are, you know, his potential is obviously at the top is is out this roof. And so if all these in these individual parts come together for him, then now you’re talking about having an all-star kind of caliber player here in Utah. Um but at the same time, he’s young. You got to allow for him to grow into that. Um and not put any pressures on him. And from here, it’s just about stacking days together. Um and then one day you put it all together. You never know what what he comes out to be. [Music] I think being a rookie in this league is hard. They have, you know, come in full steam and they’ve not been shy on the court. They’ve not been shy from their personality standpoint. So, I’ve been happy with how they’re adjusting. I’m really happy with their progress. It’s going to be fun to play the game tonight, though, and get a little feedback. The kicksman. Come on, fool. The kicksman. I’m only doing this. the kicks, man. Cuz I’m a rook. Hey, get your other What is this? Drop your own shield. That’s the point. The coach’s bag, fellas. Where the players at? It’s the coach’s bag. You see my name right there? Jones. The players one of the It’s all the way. It’s all the way to the locker room, young fella. No way, man. And this rookie, I can’t wait to this over with. I’m going do my duties. I’m going to do the duties. I’m going to do the rookie duties. I do not need no about messing up my cars at all. You don’t want your tires taken? I don’t need no tires off my car. No popcorn. I’m going to do the rookie duties, though. It’s cool. First game. First game. Ah, it’s a blessing. I mean, you dream, you dream of moments like this, but now being in that moment is just crazy. Just like living in a dream, American dream. Bro, I’m going to go out there compete. I’m going have fun with it, though. Ace Bailey, once again, as you mentioned, first cornerstone piece I think that the Utah Jazz have had in a while. Bill Hardy mentioned the way that he’s approaching the development of Ace Bailey is he’s actually looking at old film of Kevin Durant, Big Time Wings before they became stars. [Music] [Music] use his length pretty well. I thought he competed on Durant. Saw him get his hands on a few balls in the passing lanes and create some turnovers. There’s a lot to work with. [Music] I got to drive spins fade away jumper. Good. Two dribbles spin move right into the jumper. Oh my goodness. Full speed. That is a work of art. players into the top to Bailey. Free throw line hopper for Aces is up and in. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Let’s get it. 25 points to Ace Bailey in his rookie debut. Ace Bailey was sensational. Dynamic player. I think he’s going to be a hell of a player. Um I love the coaching staff that he’s with. Um I love that he got drafted to Utah. He got a good developmental program over there that I’m looking forward to to seeing how he progresses. Um, so I’m looking I’m expecting a big year from him and a big career from him and tonight he showed uh what he could do. Tonight the Utah Jazz embark on another 82 game journey. A season that will be built on growth, development, and the relentless pursuit of the summit. What was going through your mind when you heard your name announced at the Delta Center? Correct. We got to get a win. That’s the only thing that was going through my mind. You know, obviously the fans, they coming out, they supporting, they cheering as loud as they can. So just uh giving 100% effort. Number 13, Walter Clayton Jr. John Ton. [Applause] [Music] Your job when you come off the bench is to meet the level of the game. You are ready to go the second you touch the court. Let’s go. Enjoy. 1 2 3 16 Clayton with a steel outlet to Bailey. He’s big step to the rack, rise and hammers. Floats it, pulls his drain. The bounce for two. I think it just shows, you know, by the way, you know, it happened. Obviously got him on my hip, made the floater, you know, worked on that a lot throughout the years. So, just being able to use it on somebody who’s known for it, you know, it’s a great feeling. Yeah, I love Wall. I think what he adds is leadership. He has a calmness. He has this calm, cool, you know, kind of swagger, you know, with him. So, he’s going to be very important around these young guys and making sure they understand, you know, why they had the success that they had, you know, when he was in college and how do we kind of duplicate that same success here and it starts with, you know, for you to win. And so hopefully that message as a leader that you can have as a point guard on this team, you know, can filter through everyone. Jazz win this game by 21 129 108. I think what excites me is just seeing seeing, you know, everybody coming in here every day, you know, uh giving 100%. You know, obviously it’s a long season going to be 82 games. So, uh you’re not going to feel your best every day, but just coming in here, you know, putting forth your best effort.

From training camp to preseason and the home opener, Ace and Walt share some of their first ‘welcome to the NBA moments’.
