Bengals, Joe Burrow remain in playoff picture after win over Ravens | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC
The Bengals defeating the Ravens 32 to4. No, all three winning teams had at least 30 points yesterday. I like it when I I like it when, you know, I love 3128, 3431, you know, I one or both teams in the 30s is perfect. You start getting up into the 40s, that’s a little too much. One or both teams in the 30s to me is a perfect NFL game. I don’t like 13-7. I don’t want defensive struggle punt punt punt punt punt punt punt. I want points and really it doesn’t take much scoring to get to, you know, a 28-28 game in the fourth quarter. Everybody scores one touchdown per quarter. That that’s a that’s good and it gets you a nice final score. And uh the Ravens didn’t hold up their end of it. They only scored 14. So credit to the Bengals defense. They had nine straight games allowing 27 or more points. that tied an all-time record. They came one point from claiming the record for themselves against the Patriots cuz the Patriots scored 26. Well, now all of a sudden they hold the Ravens to 14 points, five turnovers. And is it as simple as Joe Burrow’s back and it gives us a little swagger? It gives us some confidence. Burrow returning. You know, the first thing that I wrote on the card here for the Bengals Ravens game, why didn’t Burrow play against the Patriots? It was only four days later. If if you’re like, if all the things that Burrow said this week are true, and I’m not saying they aren’t. I’m just saying if we accept them as true, I just want to play football. I just want to be there for my team. I want to be able to are are are we to believe that the the arrow went from not healthy enough to play on Sunday to healthy enough to play on Thursday? He fully participated in practice Wednesday and Thursday of last week. That means, as we’ve learned, thanks to the Ravens misadventures with the Lamar Jackson injury report last month, he took every first team rep Burrow did two straight days of practice. And the way he looked last night, they may have beaten the Patriots. They’re 4-8 right now. They could have been 5-7, which would have put them in a much better position to make a run down the stretch. And I I know they said in the broadcast last night, and it’s accurate. They were 4-8 last year when they hit the gas pedal and they finished 9-8, but it wasn’t enough. It went down to the to the final Sunday. It’s going to be a little harder this year. It’s going to be a little harder. Their their better path may be to hope the Steelers and the Ravens both stumble enough that the Bengals can jump up and maybe win a two or a three-way tie. I don’t know how it would work out if the Bengals, Ravens, and Steelers are all tied. A two-way tie, Bengals have a chance to complete the sweep of the Ravens when the Ravens come to town week 15. It’s coming up quickly. So, they’ll hold the tiebreaker if that happens. But it it gets complicated and it’s too early to do that kind of math. I’ll defer to Steve Cornaki as we get closer to the end of the season. But the Bengals are still alive now. Burrow looked great. The Ravens did not. And the Ravens, five straight wins. When you consider who they won, I wrote it down here. Who’ they beat? They beat the Bears. That was impressive when you consider the Bears have otherwise won eight of nine. That’s the one loss 30-6 in the last game before Lamar Jackson came back. They beat the Dolphins, the Vikings, the Browns, and the Jets. And none of those wins were particularly impressive. Even the Bears win 30 to 16. It was close at the end. The Bears had that thing where they’re driving and it’s like, what the hell are they doing? The clock’s running. Do they like hello? Is Matt Eberloose the head coach again? What’s going on here in Chicago? And the the Dolphins game 286. It was closer than that. But the thing with Lamar Jackson, and you know, I saw this and really anyone who has functioning eyes and has watched football for any amount of time knows Lamar Jackson was not the same when he came back from the hamstring injury. And since then, he’s had a knee. He’s had an ankle. He emerged from the Jets game with a toe injury. Now, a couple of times last night, he looked to be kind of running like he used to, but he’s not playing like he used to, especially in prime time. Lamar Jackson had been a terror in prime time. Christmas 2023. Remember that game? I sure do. Went into San Francisco. Brock Perie became a turnover machine and the Ravens were unstoppable and Lamar was unstoppable last night. Couldn’t get it going. He had three turnovers himself, an interception and two lost fumbles. And the Bengals just took advantage of the opportunities and they just kept pushing and they kept pushing and they kept pushing and the Ravens just were not up for the fight last night at home in a critical game. They finally caught the Steelers. If they’re ever going to win a game, that’s the game to win against a rival that they are used to playing at home under the lights. This wasn’t some new experience for the Ravens. Now, I don’t know. I don’t know what to think of the Ravens at six and six. And hey, the Steelers may be six and six come Sunday. and the Ravens and the Steelers get together next weekend in Baltimore for the first of two meetings and then they wrap it up week 18. There’s so many different possibilities and permutations. It’s going to be nuts. It’s going to be one week at a time. Where are we? Where do we go from here? And then there’s going to be another week of games that screws everything up and the percentages are going to be all over the place. And who the hell knows? And that’s the way we like it. That’s Pete Rosel’s dream. the parody he wished for back in the 70s when it was the Steelers and the Cowboys and the Dolphins and the Raiders and everybody else. It’s here. This is one of those years. We don’t know how this stuff’s going to work out. And there’s a lot of teams that are going to be alive. So, a lot of fan bases are going to be engaged in that critical month of December. I always say, you know, every team claims that it wants to win the Super Bowl and we know that’s not realistic. What’s realistic is being competitive down the stretch after Thanksgiving. Being competitive. You know why? Because then people show up for your games and they buy all that overpriced crap and they pay for parking. It doesn’t matter if the tickets are sold. You need the people to show up and buy stuff. Oh, and Jimmy and Johnny and Jenny. You want them to have on their Christmas list. Merch from the football team, not the baseball team, not the basketball team, not the hockey team, not the MLS team. You want them to want merch from the football team. You want that to be on the Christmas list. If the team’s alive, better chance they’re going to want that alternate helmet, alternate jersey, alternate this, alternate that. Thanks, Nike. So anyway, a lot of teams are going to be relevant down the stretch. Hi, it’s Mike Florio. Thanks for watching PFT on YouTube. Hit subscribe for the latest news and analysis from Pro Football
Joe Burrow looked “great” in his return for the Bengals in Week 13, providing Cincinnati with hope for a late run at the playoffs. For the Ravens, Lamar Jackson & Co. have several things to figure out at 6-6. #NBCSports #NFLonNBC #ProFootballTalk #NFL

2:31 you can never just give the Bengals credit. You couldn't even give Joe burrow credit and yesterday you were the one bitching and moaning why are they playing and why are they playing him he shouldn't be playing blah blah blah. You just a hater bro
He needs to go hide under his rock
The Bengals go 9 8
They did not want Burrow to play 2 games in 4 days.
The Bengals didn't want Burrow to play 2 games in 4 days. Bc his Toe will prolly be sore after the game, you don't want him to turn around and try to play a few days later while still be sore
He obviously was not ready!
Bengals offense gave up 14 points of the 34 in the previous game
The Bengals have no chance at the playoffs.
It’s not that hard to do the math. Currently the bengals have a better division record than the Steelers and the ravens. If the Bengals win the next five games, if the Steelers lose 3 of their next 6 and the ravens lose 2 of their next 5, they would all be 9-8. The Bengals are in because they have a better division record.
Third week in a row that the Bengals defense only let up 20 pts or less.
If Burrow played against the Patriots Mike Vrabel would've left the game thinking he needs a QB.
Joe Burrow had thanksgiving prime time game circled months ago. Joe burrow thrives on people who doubt him. Joe Burrow walks into Baltimore hostile stadium and beat the Ravens. Joey B smoking that big cigar and someone brings up CAM Newton. Joe be like didn't he play in the 80s and completely quit on his team.
Yes but the last year 9-8didnt have the divisional games if they are 5-1 in the division won't that be a big factor.
2:04 yes bud. If he would've been ready to go, he would've went on sunday
2:16 lol clearly it’s his job to find some sort of way to criticize the bengals. Sometimes warranted sometimes can’t just give them a thumbs up. This time is the latter
Zac Taylor literally said in a presser that he didn’t start Burrow cause burrow said he was sore at the end of practice.
The AFC North has turned into the NFC South.
By securing four turnovers with Joe Burrow back, that was a legitimate Cincinnati victory!!!
Crazy as this sounds, I think that the Ravens have to consider trading Lamar Jackson in the off-season. Frankly, it will not surprise me if an upgrade for his replacement is Joe Flacco.
The bengals defense didn't give up 26 points to the Patriots. There was a pick 6.
🏈🐯🤵
Stip lieing they are not making the playoffs at 9-8 if they maje it that far nobidy belueves that.
Joe Burrow runs the Cincinnati Bengals, He saves Zac Taylor job year after year. It's Joe Burrow's will to win, not Tayler's coaching ability.
Bengals had Chicago beat and gave it away
Do you even know football ? No , it's not complicated. If they are all tied at 9-8 win the division based on the best division record at 5-1 . GEESH !!?
Meant to say the Bengals win based on the best division record of 5-1/. How do you even have football show if you say that's complicated
Im surprised he said Christmas night 2023. Media hates the word "christmas". They would rather say "holidays" which is stupid because any calendar in America says that Dec. 25th is Christmas Day, whether you celebrate it or not.
Imagine claiming that a team that's 4-8 is in the "playoff picture" – what a joke, lol.
Your kitchen behind looks nice..hope you get to cook there…
Florio is so goofy! 😂
Guy hates anything relating to the Bengals
Remain in the playoff picture? I mean, they aren't mathematically eliminated but the patient is on the table bleeding out with no tourniquet…
Bengals in the playoffs? Bwa ha ha ha
Bengals in the playoffs? Bwa ha ha ha
There aren’t low scoring games. The rules are all rigged for the offense.
Burrow didn't play against the Patriots because they didn't want him playing 2 games in 4 days coming off the injury. Now he has a 'mini bye' to make sure the toe is fine before needing to play again.
For the third game in a row the Bengals defense has shown real promise The Ravens mistakes helped us win And last but not least Joe B came back and looked pretty good after being gone so long Thats how we won 😊
