Lauri Markkanen trade cost revealed
There’s a new Lowry Markin and trade rumor. This comes from Jake Fiser on the Stein line today. A lot of the speculation has been Detroit wants Lowry Markin and that’s turning out to be very very true. But we’ve kind of heard trade deals that come from the Detroit point of view mainly being a package something like Jaden Ivy, Ron Holland, Tobias Harris and picks for Markin. And the question is how many picks? Well, today we learned that what that asking price might actually be for Markin potentially from the Jazz side. This comes from Fiser. He says another likely obstacle that should be factored into the persistent Markin to Detroit speculation. Utah would almost certainly want Thompson in return, Assar Thompson. Sources say that the Jazz in fact considered trading up to select him during the 2023 NBA draft. The Pistons, as you can imagine, do not want to trade their Thompson twin. The Jazz hope to be competitive in 2026 and 27 and have signaled to rival teams that any trade offers they are prepared to consider whether they target Markin or otherwise have to keep them competitive. Utah in other words is not looking for a repeat of the Rudy Gobear or Donovan Mitchell deals that focused on stockpiling draft compensation. Markin indeed became an all-star after you are Utah acquired him and it’s believed that the Jazz greatly value his capability to lead them back to postseason play. So whether you agree that Markinan can lead the Jazz to postseason play or not, it’s clear that Utah wants a good player in return and that would be Assar Thompson if they trade Markin. So this is a little bit of shades of Donovan Mitchell in that the Jazz might be smoke screening that they just love Markin. He’s a part of the future kind of like they said for Donovan Mitchell or it could be that they just legitimately believe that and would like to just move forward with with Lowry Markin. Utah would 100% in this scenario also want some sort of draft compensation. They would also be taking on Tobias Harris who would replace uh be just immediately part of that Detroit core of Duran Cade and then Lowry. Finally, if you don’t think Detroit is all that interested, Jake Fischer also goes on to say, “And yes, rival executives have frequently suggested Utah’s Lowry Markin as an ideal player for the Pistons to target. You can understand why too. Utah dangled Markin on the trade block two summers ago before inking the high scoring forward to a massive extension. Then last June, Detroit was said to be weighing free agent runs at a variety of 7 foot floor spacers from Nause Reed to Miles Turner and Santi Alama. Want more connections between Detroit and Markin? Don’t forget that Pistons head coach JB Bickerstaff coached Markin in Cleveland. Also, before the Finnish flamethrower even got to the Cavaliers via the first sign and trade of his career, sources say Pistons lead decision maker Tjan Langden, then with New Orleans as a top aid to David Griffin, was pushing for the Pelicans to pursue Markin as a restricted free agent. So, that’s an interesting thing. I know that the Jazz had some sort of deal with Mike Connley and the and the Pelicans. So, there is a connection before they ended up doing the Minnesota trade. There’s a connection there with the Pelicans. And that’s interesting that that’s the person that it was. So all of these are interconnected. The Pistons want Markin. And if they want him, they’re going to have to give up Assar Thompson potentially. And that may not even be 100% what the Jazz want to make it happen. But if they do, an Assar Thompson deal would be nice for Utah. He would be an immediate defensive upgrade for the Utah who has one of the worst defenses in the NBA. Thompson is first team allNNBA defense caliber and could also potentially develop along the same timeline as the Utah Jazz young core. Ace Bailey, Keonte George, potentially Walker Kesler if they make a deal. So, it’s going to be something really interesting to watch. We’ll see if this turns into anything, but one thing is for sure, Detroit wants Lowry Mark. And the question is, is Utah willing to trade him if the Pistons give them what they want? We’ll see. It’s very clear the Detroit Pistons are interested in Lauri Markkanen and the trade rumor is now out there that the Utah Jazz would want a specific player from the Pistons.

I think it would be a smart idea to keep Lauri so he can help develop Ace. That is more valuable than anything you get from a trade.
The difference between Mitchell and Markkanen is that Markkanen actually wants to be here.
Lauri aint going anywhere and his contract is turning into a bargain.
Looks like you’re not gonna get rid of him as easily as you’ve been wanting Nerd. Sorry about that dude.
When talking about players, please state height, weight, strength, weakness, shooting splits, position. I only listen to you now when it comes to the Utah jazz. Wish you made.more videos (daily) I used to listen to David Locke every day religiously for years. Now I can't stand the guy (finger nails on a chalk board). When you listen to Locked on jazz now you only get 10 to 15 minutes of actual jazz content, just lazy surface level garbage now the other 15 to 20 minutes of his daily.podcast is add reads and some mumbling crap about the weather or whatever. Wish the jazz would get a real play by play guy. I love your enthusiasm, I used to have the same enthusiasm for the jazz years ago having grown up in Utah. Moved out of Utah 30 years ago, sorry can't stand the people there now (passive aggressive jerks, inclusive woke alphabet evil pride BS) but its where I grew up. I'm not sure the Smith's are good owners, something isn't right with that guy.
Yes, we could get a defensive upgrade. But would that be more valuable than the incredible offensive Laurie provides?? Or would it actually be a net negative overall?
It would take a huge offer at this point to get the Jazz to let go of a 7 footer that plays like this! He is back to his all star season, maybe even better.

Markkanen's not going anywhere. Utah's been trying to get a Herschel Walker type deal for him for 2 years already. Nobody's gonna go for it.
