Drew O’Connor, Evander Kane & Adam Foote Post-Game Media | Canucks at Kings (Nov 29, 2025)
Well, Drew, we knew this one wasn’t going to be an easy one, of course, going up against LA, but you guys take it to overtime. What did you see from your team in this performance? Uh, I thought we played well, honestly. I thought our third period was really good. Um, it’s probably one of our best. And, um, overtime, you never really know what’s going to happen. So, um, I thought it was a good effort. Um, pretty complete game from us. A nice goal by Kane coming out of the box and your pass to him. What did you see on that play as he came out? Yeah, it’s just kind of a quick play. um just saw him open there so tried to get it to him. Really nice finish by him. The momentum in the first game, I’m curious about it just with something you don’t see very often is three goals being called back. How does that affect the game? Yeah, it was weird. There’s a lot of pauses, a lot of breaks. Um yeah, it’s uh something you don’t usually see, but um you know, we had the one with with Pey. It looked like it was looked like it was in, but I think it was just just barely not across the line. So that kind of sucks. and then you get the offsides one. But, um, I thought we responded well and, uh, didn’t let us didn’t let it throw us off our game. Final game of the road trip, you’re going to go up against Colorado. Obviously, again, not an easy team as they lead the league. What’s something you maybe just want to see adjusted heading into that one? Um, yeah, I thought last time we played against them, we we played pretty well. So, I think we kind of stick with the same game plan that we had. Um, they’re obviously playing really well right now. I think defending hard is going to be the key cuz they’re scoring a lot of goals and their offense is really great. So, um, it’s going to be a good test for us. back and forth game I’m sure was expected going up against the Kings. What’ you see from your team in order to take it all the way to overtime? Yeah, I I think uh you know my experience I’ve played them lots uh over the last number of years and it’s always a tight game against them. Uh you know they don’t give up a whole lot and you know I thought for the most part we did a good job of uh you know staying in the game and and uh getting some opportunities there. There wasn’t a whole lot out there for either side and obviously when you get to overtime uh lots of different things can happen. Not something you see very often is three goals in the first five minutes being called back. What does that do to a first period in terms of momentum? Well, I think you know it Pety’s goal was a little different or or almost goal. Um you know I think it uh was tough to see. I think from the ice we thought it was in but uh you know on the replay there wasn’t anything conclusive and then obviously an offside goal taken away for for either team. Um, you know, I I I don’t think it’s uh it’s it’s often you see that, but you know, we got to keep playing and and we got to do a better job of staying on side. Grab a nice goal for yourself tonight. You get the pass from Drew Conor as you come out of the box. What did you see just on that play as you headed down the ice? Yeah. Um, you know, obviously you step out of the box and uh, you know, you hope for for something like that to happen. You know, Misy made a good good play to to deflect it over to to Drew and uh, you know, he made a nice heads up play getting it up right away. You guys get Colorado next to finish off this road trip? Of course, not an easy one. Again, number one team in the league. So, any adjustments you just want to see made heading into that one? Uh, yeah. I mean, we we play them at home. So, so I think we know what to expect. Obviously, they have, I think, one regulation loss in the whole year. So, um, they’re rolling. I think, you know, we look at our road trip. We’re one and one. Uh, and and we have a game in a couple of days to look to make it a a solid road trip for our group. And, um, you know, that’ll be the focus on Tuesday. You’ve played a lot against Kopitar over the years. How do you prepare for a matchup knowing that he’s not going to give anything away on either end of the ice? Yeah, I mean he’s it’s well documented. He’s a great two-way player. Um, you know, defensively, offensively, captain their team, drives, play for them. Um, you know, has been their number one center for, you know, a decade and more. And, um, you know, always a tough matchup. What do you think of Kevin’s performance in his return? He was, you know, the usual, uh, performance from him. You know, he’s he keeps us in games. He makes some big stops. Um, you know, he’s great lateral movement. Uh, you know, he looked great. We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy match up, of course, going up against the Kings, but what did you see from your group that allowed you guys to take it to overtime? We played a good hockey game. They’re a team that clogs it up. They played well defensively. They’re a veteran team, so I really liked uh, you know, we were we played a good chess match with them. I mean, um, you know, it was it was good hockey game. Something you obviously don’t see very often is those three goals essentially called back in that first period. What does that do to a game and what was going on in that first 5 minutes? Yeah, it’s one of those things that could have went, you know, a little dicey for both teams. Uh, but it, you know, I like the way we hung in there and we didn’t let it affect our game or our emotions. It’s, uh, we responded well to, you know, some of those calls. With Connor Garland’s injury, is he still with you guys or is he going back to Vancouver? He’s still with us. Okay. Any how serious do you think that might be? I won’t know until it’s reviewed by our doctor in Vancouver. Well, next up, you guys have Colorado to finish the road trip. Of course, we’ve seen them before, but it’s going to be a tough game with the number one team in the league. What changes maybe do you want to see heading into that one from the group. Anything coming off this one? Well, they play, you know, they’re the hottest team in the league right now. They play a fast hockey game. So, you know, this is a good start for us to learn. You know, that was our best neutral zone game in a long time being over Pox. They’re a fast team here in LA and we were able to uh slow them down a little bit. Um so we’re going to have to continue to work on that. A few adjustments like I said, Colorado’s pretty hot right now. So, but we’ll make those adjustments and uh the guys uh it should be fine.

Clearly the solution is chewing some cashews and taking a smoke break between periods.
They missed Garly in overtime!
I’m sorry but we HAVE to stop forcing Kane in the top 6 like he is such an offensive pylon unless he gets a breakaway…
It's a tough season. I feel like the Canucks are playing better than last season, but so is everyone else. We got too many games where we play good, but then still lose. At least Petey is showing some light. And Quinn Hughes might not be moving on from Vancouver as people think. He's playing for a city who has a deep long history who bleeds hockey and wants to see their team win so bad. Something has gotta give somewhere I guess, but I hope we keep Petey and Hughes at least.
But on another note, "Go Whitecaps!" 🤠
Much better effort but need to do better in overtime good goal by kane but hes at least a 3rd or 2nd..
Now that it’s open season on “veterans”… can we please please get rid of Kane? He generates so many more penalties and pp goals for the opposing team than goals for the Canucks
