[The Athletic] Kodai Senga recently informed the Mets he would rather stay than be traded

  1. Oh he’s definitely gone. You don’t leak this unless something is heating up and with the Winter Meetings next week I expect something to get done.

Regardless, it’s time to part ways. The peripherals are poor and if he continues regressing I’d rather have the roster space to add a more durable pitcher.

  2. Wish Senga had worked out but we can’t rely on him. With our pitching issues we can’t afford another Senga year.

  3. This feels like a non-story to me but at least it’s a better non-story than Puma’s slop about Soto and Lindor having a bad relationship because one of them cares about fashion and the other doesn’t. Baby steps.

  4. Senga’s contract looks pretty good after Cease got what he got. He should only be traded for real assets, not as a salary dump. A lot of people have forgotten how good he looked in the beginning of the season. We were outraged he wasn’t an allstar even though he was injured

  5. I’d be ok with keeping him since I don’t know if we’d get much in return. If we keep him, we would need to decide whether he is

    – a starter in our rotation

    – in the minors to start since he has options and calling him up when we need him

    – a “regular” bullpen arm if he can handle that

    – a long reliever/tag team with another starter
