Tom Willander, Max Sasson & Adam Foote Post-Game Media | Canucks at Ducks (Nov 26, 2025)
Well, let’s start with just what you saw from the group tonight in order to be able to grab this win against Anaheim. Thought a good battle. I think uh I think all the guys kind of bought in and played hard. Um and even though you know uh we had periods where where it was tough for us, I think I think we found a way to to get through that. Your first multi-point game in your career. How would you evaluate your game out of this one tonight? Um I thought it was fun. Uh, I think well I think the game was fun. I thought thought the place was buzzing but um I played with Marcus today. I think we had a bit of a more of a shutdown role and I thought I had a good time. What’ you see from your goalender tonight out there? 37 saves in his third NHL game. Amazing. Amazing. He he was he was catching everything and it wasn’t like it wasn’t 40 bad shots either. It was uh it was a lot of high-grade chances and he he really he really shut it up. I’m sure these games give coaches gray hair, but as a player, how much fun is it when it’s back and forth like that, Tom? Um, well, I think I think back and forth is uh it’s not always fun, but but I think when um when it’s tight like that um and it’s very close game, I think that’s those are the best games. Well, a huge 5-4 win over this Anaheim team, the number one team in your division right now. So, how big is this win for you guys? Yeah, I mean they’re all big, but uh you know, especially uh dropping a few at home, uh we knew we said in in between periods actually that we’re not taking this thing OT, we need to win in regulation and uh you know, we got the job done and you know, big credit to to big credit to our group and it’s a big win. Start the road trip. What was the biggest difference that you saw maybe just from that last game to this game that your team really settled into? Uh yeah, I think when you you see us when we get pucks uh in and we get on our forche and you know we let the I know Quinn probably the best in the world at it do his thing up there. Uh you know we’re really hard to to play against and uh yeah I mean that’s what I saw uh the difference between probably the last that game and the last few. Tom Vander gets his first multi-point game of his career with two assists. What did you see from him out there tonight? Uh you know you just see it since he’s got here. He has a lot of confidence. He has a lot of uh poise and um you know he’s a confident guy and uh yeah he’s he’s flying around up there. He’s he moves his feet really well. He makes really good plays and he’s a great guy to go on top of it. You said it there with Nikita Tolopil getting an incredible game, but what does this mean for him just not only this his third NHL game to come out here and have a performance like that? Yeah, I mean I uh just telling Murf, I mean he uh he’s a pros pro and he’s always so calm. So, you know, when he’s in there, he’s not going to get rattled. He’s not going to get shaken up, and uh he uh he’s going to do his thing. And, you know, he he stood on his head. The talk was just about how challenging this road trip is going to be. You guys come in, you take on that number one team in your division and grab this 5-4 win. What did you see from your team out there in order to grab this? Well, the first period, they kind of had us uh they were really buzzing. I think the speed they they’ve I think they like what their team’s doing, but I don’t think they love going back and forth as much as they are. They’re probably, you know, trying to control that. I’m sure with Joel, I know him pretty well. But, um, I think once we got used to the speed, you know, they had us in chances 9 to3 in the first, but when we had them in the second 11 to six, five and five, it ended up being a even that way. But we we kind of took over, I felt, in the second period, we just have to uh be a little bit more disciplined with, you know, reckless is maybe too hard of a word, but you can’t take offensive zone penalties. You got to stay away from the goal. They had ref had to call them. Um, so we got to, you know, against a team like that, we got to really manage uh the penalties we take, but again, a resilient team and, uh, I really like the second period, but the I thought PD played well, the our vets played well, and I I love Tollo’s game. I mean, he came in and he stay he was strong. Yeah. Talking about Toolo, 37 saves in just his third NHL game. I mean, where was his confidence at tonight? What’ you see from him? He was solid. I mean, he didn’t seem nervous in there. I mean, the made a mistake on the entry of the the the goal, the PK goal in the second. Um, you know, the guy the defenseman had way too much runway, right? Hard for him to pick that one up, but I just thought he was firm, believed in his, you used his body. Um, he’s a big man and uh blocked a lot of shots and he didn’t seem nervous. Does a team like that kind of force you in that up and down game, Adam? How tough is it to stay in your structure when they play that way? You can get caught. But I mean, even the one they scored, our transfer went behind their net. We were always talking about being 10 more feet up for that F3 and he we were down and then obviously our D made a not the best read on it. Keep them twoon-one, but but if we’re up and it’s it’s you got to learn the hard way like we’re up on that cuz they want to run. They’re good. They’re quick on their and we got caught there. But they want to make you exchange chances and we wanted to slow a little bit down and play our offense the way we do it. We we we play a little bit different than them. We like to be in the zone with the for check and then keep it in the zone and uh we we created a lot offensively especially in the second period. Split up your bottom two deepers. What did you think from Vander and Marcus Patterson tonight? I thought they were good. Um I thought Willie was great. I mean even on that goal he did the right thing on the goal at the end of the PK and um you know another player kind of doubled up and took his guys well on the rebound popped to I think it was Ratty’s guy. So but Willie Willy’s playing good. I mean it’s quick. I mean, those some savvy veterans over there with Cryder and Korean, they know what they’re doing and it’s hard to manage them at times when a puck moves east wester goes up to the point. But I I thought he had a good game. Drew took that penalty late. He was, you know, sat in the box, but he came out, won a key draw and then got the That was real big. I mean, um he seems like he’s got good legs and um at the end there we wanted to use him more and he’s he just had the he had the juice and legs behind the net and we saw what he did. Um, I was bit in. Like you said, it was a big face

Sasson staring down the camera lens and straight into my soul geez 😂
Breaking up a completely rookie pairing was pretty helpful imo. Don't know why we didn't try it earlier
Nikita Tolopilo WOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!
If Tolo can keep this up…lank is expendable and there’s a few teams that would give a high pick for him. That opens up cap space for a C
wills an absolute stud
Big W
Ducks barn is underated for atmosphere. Nucks threw the puck around really well. That's gotta be their identity hard forcheck and moving the puck quick because they sure can't skate like the ducks.
We've been waiting on Willander for years!
