Why Jokic Plays WORSE When Wemby Is Out

Now, if I told you that Joic averages 37 points on his career against uh Veryama, 11 rebounds, and eight assists, what if I told you that? How is he canceling him out? As as as successful as he is against Evan Mobley and as good as he is against Evan Mobley, take Evan Mobley off the floor. Scotty Barnes night has gotten much less difficult. That is a fact. If if Victor Webyama is not starting, Luke Cornett is starting. And last I checked, Luke Cornet is an awesome defender, too. Hold up. Is it because the Spurs think that Victor and Swipy, you’ve watched all these games, so you might actually be able to help me out? Because I didn’t watch all these games, so I’m going based on what I remember. Is it possible because one, Joic is actually a really terrible matchup one-on-one for WBY. Is it two possible that the Spurs are reluctant to help help uh help uh Victor Wyama because they think of him as such a dominant defender? But just because you’re a dominant defender generally doesn’t mean you’re a dominant defender in every matchup. We can all agree that if we all agree that Victor W is the greatest greatest defender in the league. I think we all agree. I can still tell you that if if Darren Fox in Sacramento gets him one-on-one on a pick and roll, he’s blown right past him probably. Sure. Hey, bad matchup. So, Joker is going to make their night easier because of him not being there. I just want to make sure that I’m not losing my mind, Jordan. It does not mean that as a post defender one-on-one, he’s going to be able to stop Jokic. And if Joic sees WBY one-on-one in the post, he’s gonna put his body into him, move him around, and score on him. That’s the Oract. So, since Joic is a super smart basketball player, when he sees that the best chance for us to score is for me to score, remember when he to Zubats, remember that when the when when the Clippers decided to guard him one-on-one, he had the most efficient 55 point game ever.   1. It's just a matchup issue, Pens not fleshing it out. If you can get Wemby at the 4 with a 1 on 1 defender at the 5 vs Denver and still get a lot of his defense it's better. If Joker gets going the team will follow. You gotta force the others to score.

  7. I just think it comes down to maturity up til this point. Meaning up until now wemby and co have gotten better and previous match ups have to be considered but not looked at as a tell all. Also wembys playmaking out of the post isn’t as good as jokic’s so ball movement played a bigger role in the spurs win recently. While as Vic gets the ball and it might not find the right target all the time necessarily. I don’t think the spurs are better without wemby, just that the ball might not move as much just cuz we want the ball in wembys hands.

Bringing up year 2 Wemby to justify jokic plays better against him than without him on the court is flat out wrong… jokic wasn’t getting all his points on Wemby he would do it against guys like Zach Collin’s.. spurs upgraded the backup 5 so you can contain jokic better now with Wemby out the game… this year I promise with Wemby back and kornet back at the backup 5, jokic will have more problems truly then he had in yesterday game

Wilt's gonna go get his points regardless of who you put in front of him, but Russels team still took the championship from him time after time despite that. The real talking point here is that an elite defender is very much capable of having a higher overall impact on team performance than an elite scorer, no matter how they might perform in an isolated 1v1

The WAY you argue isn’t always conducive to dialogue so even if you are making good points, it makes it difficult to get across without starting a shouting match.   44. A favorable matchup doesn't mean an easier day overall. It may be easier to score, but you will have to do more of that during the game because your team is probably going to go to you more to score. As opposed to the less favorable matchup where you aren't asked to be the primary scorer, you can facilitate more And make your day easier.
