[Sabres Unfiltered] If this is not a fluke trend and can be somewhat maintained for the remainder of the season I promise you this team is not out of it. All it needs is good goaltending.

  1. Guess the period of time where Dahlin was not playing and when he came back. It’s been pretty steady improvement by the team outside of that stretch.

  2. I can assure you xGF% of 56+ will not be sustained by this team

Which is why going 1-2-0 in those 3 games is so brutal

  3. They’ve been playing fast and aggressive, and have largely eliminated the fly-by stick checks which I’ve been screaming about for years. They’re still a bit weak on overall decision making and finishing, and Power needs to learn how to properly use his body in front of his own net, but everything is trending in the right direction even just with the eye test.

The only game recently that’s been objectively bad was the Pittsburgh game. Even the Devils game they were forcing play and got stymied by Allen.

  4. All it needs is good goaltending is an issue, especially when you don’t have good goaltending…

  5. Anyone who reads this trend and thinks all we need is goaltending and/or this is a good sign is a moron.

Good players exceed their xGF, bad players don’t. The only thing this chart tells you is we aren’t scoring enough relative to the chances we create. Meaning we need forward help, not goalie help.

  6. The hope will kill you.

They’re playing well but even then they’re just about squeezing a few wins and losing the same. The odds of a playoff are against them. They need a run of 5 or more wins.
