Why the Houston Texans Could Be the NFL’s Most Dangerous Late-Season Team

From the early window, my biggest takeaway would be that the race is heating up there in the AFC South. And without question, the Houston Texans look like a team that’s going to be reckoned with. We saw it a couple Thursday nights ago with the job that they did against the Buffalo Bills. And that defense again came up with big play after big play. This wasn’t about getting to Daniel Jones the same way they got to Josh Allen, but they were able to make the stops when they needed to. And the key here is the defense has been so good that you’ve started to see some growth on offense. And I think when you look at some of the pieces on offense that they’re relying on and it’s Jaden Higgins, a rookie wide receiver playing opposite Nico Collins had five catches for 65 yards. It’s Woody Marx who is the team’s bellcow today, 19 carries. It’s Arante Ursery at at left tackle. It’s the offensive coordinator who’s also ostensibly a rookie in his first year calling plays. Um, you see growth from all of those guys and those guys are really becoming really important pieces of the offense and today you put CJ Strad back in there and you know Stra wasn’t at his very best today coming back off of a few weeks off with the concussion but he made big throws when he needed to make big throws. Threw for 276 yards. Yes, you had the pick. Yes, you had him taking a couple sacks. But I think you start you’re starting to see a ceiling for a Houston team that doesn’t quite control its own destiny, but now has beaten the Colts once. They’ll get the Colts again in week 18. They split with the Jaguars. So if the Jaguars lose another one, the Texas will be in could be in position to win the division. So at 7 and five, they’re just a game back of the Jaguars. Just a game back of the Colts. That ASC South race is really heating
