NFL LIVE | Jared Goff is NOTHING against Packers – Dan Orlokvsy believes Micah Parson sinks Lions

said today he has great optimism that Aaron Rogers will play Sunday against the Bills. Of course, Rogers missed Sunday’s loss to the Bears with a wrist injury and reports were that he was trying to play, but doctors decided to hold him out. So, looks like we could see him this week against the Bills. The Chiefs will also get Isaiah Pacheco back on Thursday night against the Cowboys. Pacheco has missed the last three games with a sprained knee ligament. However, right guard Trey Smith won’t practice today. So, not looking good there. The Czecho coming back though could make a huge difference for those Chiefs that got a big win. Back to the great matchups. Can’t wait to see on Thanksgiving. Let’s dive into Packers and Lions. The Packers, look at how important this game is. Currently have a 45% chance to win the division according to ESPN analytics. That would jump to a 66% with a win and drop to a 27% loss uh with a loss. So, as for Detroit, it can see its chances to win the North drop all the way to 11% with a loss on Thursday. Just shows you how impactful this one can be. Mina, how can the Packers defense get to smack? Yeah, it does. Yeah. Um, all right. So, teams that have given Detroit trouble, the Detroit offense, have done a few things. One, interior pressure. You saw that in New York, the defensive tackles working the guards in particular. Two, you have to take away Goff’s or cloud his throwing lanes over the middle of the field off of play action. Show him color when he turns his back. And then three, you got to eliminate Jir Gibbs as an outlet by blitzing him in some cases or covering him when he leaps out. Unfortunately for Detroit, uh Green Bay can do all of those things at a high level. And unlike the Giants, they can also defend outside zone. Uh they actually have allowed only 2.8 8 yards per carry on outside zone this year, which is a big part of the reason why Jir Gibbs struggled in that week one matchup. I think for the Lions, you have to do a couple of things. If you’re going to use run a lot of under center play action, it’s got to be heavily blocked up. And I also think you might want to lean a little bit more on quick game, not the under center play action, because uh Green Bay, your best matchup advantage in this is your receivers against the Packers corners. The question is just how do you get Jared Goff enough time and comfort to actually take advantage of that? Yeah, I think if you’re Detroit, the biggest concern is where’s Waldo essentially with Micah Parsons? The the Packers and Jeff Hafley, their defensive coordinator have started to use Micah the way that the Browns in the past have used Miles Garrett. Okay, so they’re going to take their four defensive linemen and spread them out. So here’s these one, two, and three defensive linemen. And then they’re taking Micah Parsons and they’re really stacking him over that center. Remember Miles Garrett last year doing the crossover? So, here’s the challenge defensively or offensively. Micah can really have a three-way go here. Sometimes he’ll shoot over that guard. Sometimes he’ll just go right up head up on that center or sometimes he’ll go backside guard, backside gap. So, the problem from us as an offensive perspective is we have to because he can go any of those three locations. We have to commit three. So when we commit three, what it is is where they can go one on one and once again they can go one on one. So as a defense I am now creating one-on ones for my edges and Micah’s whole goal and timing this up on the road will be the biggest challenge because I have to commit those three internal parts. His goal is to just destroy the middle of the pocket. I mean this that’s a goal accomplished right there. We have bodies on the floor from an offensive perspective and there again there’s that one-on-one matchup on the perimeter. I have to chip here. Micah’s going through the double team, but the chaos in the middle of the pocket basically ruins the play immediately. That’s the weakest point of where Detroit’s offensive line is. And all of a sudden, the havoc created by that pass rush allows the the defense to get that safety in the end zone. That’s the concern. Detroit’s interior offensive line has been bad. And Micah having the ability to roam and pick a spot and you having to commit the numbers to that one person, that stresses an offensive unit. M. It’s really good, Dan. That’s phenomenal. This needs to be a throwback game for the Detroit Lions. This needs to be 25, 30 runs. And the reason being is because when you look at Green Bay, look, I my daughter’s playing SEC Championship volleyball tonight, right? And what they do in volleyball is when when you have your best player, they serve her. They serve to her to try to wear her out throughout the duration of the game. That’s exactly what I’m doing to Michael Parsons all game on. And if you and Mina remember this, y’all remember when he was in Dallas, teams would do that. They would target him in the run game, get a lot of bodies on him early. And I think that needs to be the mode that the um that obviously Detroit is in. You want to push the ball down the field. Amina is exactly right. There are some explosive plays to be made against this defense, but I think this needs to be a Dan Campbell, make this a brawl for Michael Parsons in particular. Now, it’s not that Green Bay won’t be stout at times, but you have to be committed enough to it. So, when you get into that fourth quarter, there is a thought that they may be coming at me. And the opportunities that you get when he stands up, Dan, is sometimes you may have to sacrifice and just tee off and just go directly at them and just make them think about it. That was the thing about Minnesota. They gave him nothing else to think about other than pinning his ears back in time in the snap. Yeah, man. Um, you know, I’m really thankful for my family, all these things, but I’m also really thankful for these games on Thanksgiving. It’s so exciting to think about getting to see this because earlier uh that I was in the middle of a scuffle last night with the suit. I was like, “Oh, no.” Are you trying to put the mic over there so you could hear? Well, for a second I was like, “Oh, maybe they’re hugging.” And then I’m like, “Oh, that’s not a hug. That’s Maybe they’re hugging. Get in there.” Well, yeah, I should have. I mean, I wish if that was one of us from NFL Live, she would have thrown hands. I totally would have. Yeah. Either thrown hands at you guys or like in protection. I’m not dealing with that. Look at boogie face boogie. Like, what the hell is wrong with I did I was given some side eye. That’s Hey, what went wrong? Uh, anyway, that kind of looks like me trying to deal with that scuffle. Let’s talk about the Bucks, one of some of the losing teams on Sunday. The Bucks lost to the Rams. Baker Mayfield also left the game with the AC joint injury. What went wrong for them, Marcus? Oh, it was pressure. It was the twist and stunts on the interior. Baker obviously got hit. He was pressured, I think, sacked four times. This offensive line for the I mean, this defensive line for the Los Angeles Rams is going to be a menace come playoff time. And Baker Mayfield was one of those quarterbacks that felt the wrath of those young fellas up front that’s absolutely getting after your kester. kester to the Steelers who lost to the Bears with Mason Rudolph at quarterback. Mina, what went wrong for the Steelers? Yeah, predictability on defense got them once again. The pass rush was successful at points, but behind them, the Bears were able to attack them knowing what they would get. They knew if they put big bodies on the field, the Steelers would match it with base, and they were able to attack the linebackers in coverage. They knew they would get cover three and they attacked it. the DJ Moore touchdown. You get numbers to the side, wide open up the seam. It’s a kind of the same old story with the Steelers at this point and the Bears knew exactly where to attack. Yeah. Let’s go to the Colts who could not close out the Chiefs at Arrowhead on Sunday. Dan, what went wrong for Indie? Well, the drop back pass game and this this run game will be fine. The the play action game will continue to be fine. But in the last month, Daniel Jones when just playing drop back football and not utilizing play action has really fallen back down the earth. The QBR is down, completion percentage is down, touchdown to interception ratio is completely falling off. I was shocked they didn’t throw the ball more downfield, but they got to get that drop back pass game back on track. Let’s get back to our great slate of Thanksgiving games. Let’s build out a play sheet presented by ESPN Bet using props for each game. Dang it. We had

  1. The Packers all time record on Thanksgiving is 16-20-2 and in their last 5 game they won 3 out of 5 and they have won the last two Thanksgiving games against the dolphins last season and the lions the previous season, and they are 9-12 against Detroit on Thanksgiving

  2. Brad Holmes going cheap on offensive line along with big Frank Ragnow retiring is hurting the Lions massively. Mahogany is not as good as Kevin Zeitler and the Lions let Zeitler walk.

  3. As a Lions fan, the packers win this game unfortunately. Our o line is hurt, and everybody and their mother knows that Goff folds like a cheap suit under pressure. Gary and Parsons will be to much for our line tomorrow. Packers win by 10. Hope im wrong

  4. Does Dan understand that hes not in the game?
Who's been the lions qb the past 3 seasons and what is their record against the packers?
Goff isnt perfect, but to say hes nothing ,against anyone, is completely insane.
Will someone please tell Mina Kimes to go sit at the kiddie table. Her voice hurts my ears and her analysis is instant crap.
She's like running out of coffee in the morning and you have to have instant coffee instead.

  5. I get what they're saying about attacking Parsons, but it will be hard when they move him around and regardless, I'll take Parsons athleticism and motor any day over anything. I mean there are 10 other players out there and they aren't scrubs, if they commit that much if their game plan to stopping Parsons they're in trouble. The way to stop Parsons is to challenge your players to win thier… Well in this case their 1 on 2s. If it turns into a 1 on 3 situation against Parsons it just isn't going to work .

  6. Ragnow coming back, Rams should be his first game. O-line will be fixed. Packers defense has shown they're hard to score on so our defense has to get after their offense . Detroit needs it's running game in this one.

  7. They lost 1 game against the Packers and all sudden he's nothing against the Packers what's his all time record against the Packers while on the lions 7-3 in the regular season and 7-4 including the playoffs
