We’ll see by his late 30s. It’s just so difficult to be that guy for over ten years straight.
No, baseball needs the majority of the world to start knowing the game before it can even compare to the popularity of soccer.
Soccer is by far the world’s most popular sport.
I would imagine he’s bigger than Brady already. Probably not LeBron
In the Asian markets, he is definitely bigger… But other than that, he isn’t nearly as big as LeBron.
Outside of America, most people don’t know who Tom Brady is. American football is a joke to the majority of the world’s population (which is probably a good thing).
Yes, Ohtani is way past Tom Brady at lease equivalent with LeBron.
No, baseball is too prohibitive and it’s not ingrained in the culture like soccer or basketball is in a lot of these other places, requires way more time and skill to becomes good at, and it takes significantly longer to make really good money as opposed to other sports.
He’s already bigger than Brady. Doubt many outside the US/Canada/some Euro markets know/care much about American football.
About baseball surpassing basketball and soccer globally in popularity very very very low chance of happening (<0.01%) especially since both sports are growing soccer has plateud a bit while basketball still grows rapidly despite both of them being top 3 and being only 2 truly sports where its basically played in every country in the world today. About Ohtani popularity: Pretty limited globally but he is for sure a bigger name than Tom Brady simply beqcuse baseball being more global than American football. More popular Than Lebron James? No chance and not even close this pic tells you a lot.
I think Ohtani could definitely get up there with the likes of LeBron and Brady eventually especially because he is an international superstar.
As for your second question, I don’t think so, soccer/football is out of the question as it the major sport in most European, South American and even African countries. As for basketball, it’s closer but with rising interest in the sport in both Europe and China, I don’t think it’s possible at all.
There’s no chance that my mom would ever know who Ohtani is, but she sure knows who LeBron is.
The latter question the answer is NO but he is definitely already a bigger international star than Tom Brady or Lebron James.

Brady’s a robot, LeBron is exposed Diddy like most of the top, ohtani another big money maker part of the club you and I ain’t in
Out of these three, only LBJ is globally known.
Baseball is unknown to the vast majority of the world. Basketball isn’t, and yet it’s still pretty much dwarfed by football/soccer.
Why’d they make him ugly
Here’s the thing. I don’t think he’s bigger globally than Lebron James at his peak and Tom Brady really wasn’t that type of guy. Ohtani is the guy right now and having Japan behind him helps a lot. As for Lebron when I first moved to Kyrgyzstan the only American sports stuff they knew was, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Tom Brady, the Dallas Cowboys, the Dodgers, Yankees, and weirdly Dale Earnhardt. After a few years though Ohtani’s face was popping up on ads. One of the first things my wife asked for me to bring back from the US was a Kobe Lakers Jersey, a Dodgers hat, and some AEW shirts.
Zero chance ever of baseball surpassing soccer globally . But for sure ohtani is bigger than those you mentioned , globally
Certainly already bigger than Brady. Hard to top being more famous than NBA legends.
👍
He’s probably bigger than Brady, but not as big as LeBron James.
Surpass soccer? I’m sorry but you need to get out of your baseball (American?) bubble because thats ludicrous.
He’s already surpassed the handegg guy, but he’ll never surpass Lebron because baseball has too many barriers to entry in most of the Global South.
As an Aussie the only time I’ve heard of Ohtani is when he signed that contract. Brady, LeBron and their sports have much more of a presence overseas. Baseball is only really big in the US and Japan, from my perspective
