Zach Edey’s career night leads to Memphis Grizzlies knocking off Sacramento Kings

The Memphis Grizzlies uh got started yesterday with Zack Edy winning the tip off and the game ended with Zack Edy having a career night. And we got to break it down in this episode. We’re going to get into all the great things that Zack Edy did. Uh we’re also going to talk about some other things, too. There’s some room for improvement as we continue to go through this stretch for the Grizzlies, right? They’re they’re winning some basketball games now. Five wins in their last six games, but there is some room for improvement. We’re going to talk about some of those things later, and then we’re going to give some shout out to some other players as well, cuz again, early in the show, we’re focusing on uh Zack Edy after his career night. But we’re going to talk about some other players as well after this 115 to 107 Grizzlies win over the Sacramento Kings. Historic performance uh for Zack Edy, 32 points, 17 rebounds, five blocks on 80% uh field goal percentage, 16 of shooting, 16 of 20 shooting from the field. He’s the first player since Shaquille O’Neal to reach those numbers on 80% shooting. 32 points, 17 rebounds, five blocks on 80% shooting. First player since Shaquille O’Neal. Uh, so that just I mean that that says how dominant Zack Edy was in this performance. That’s according to Stat Muse. Zack Edy also is the third player, this is from the uh the NBA, third player in Memphis Grizzlies franchise history to have at least 30 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocks in a game. I’m going to give you a second to guess the other two. So, while I’m talking right now, you you need to be thinking of the other two names in your head. Only three players in Grizzlies franchise history have had 30 points, 15 rebounds, uh, and at least three blocks in a game. The other two names, Pal Gasol, Zack Randolph. So again, just just incredible company. Incredible company for Zack Edy. He’s doing this in year two. He’s doing this coming off of offseason ankle surgery. Like it was something I said uh last night while watching the game. like this dude didn’t get a regular off seasonason. It was something that he mentioned, you know, earlier when we were talking to him. I was talking to him probably shortly after he got back, he mentioned the fact that he didn’t get, you know, a typical off season to kind of ramp up and work on this part of his game and work on this part of the game. But one of the things that I keep going back to, one of the things that was said to me very early on when we started to learn about Zach Edi when I would talk to people from Purdue and just talk to his teammates in Memphis just about, you know, the maturation process that he was going through as a rookie, everyone talks about how this guy’s a quick learner. Like he he grasps the material. You tell him, “Hey, yep.” he takes it in and then he’s going to be a guy that you’re not constantly pounding three to four weeks about the same issues. He’s going to figure it out. He’s going to learn and that’s an internal thing too. Go back and look at his end of the season media availability. He was talking about all, you know, proving people wrong and proving himself right and how at the end of the day, just learning, you know, these different things, you know, at the NBA level and his rookie season was just filled with, you know, so much. It was it was just so much going on during his rookie year. I mean, I remember, you know, in January, we were having conversations about him becoming a better force floor spacer and cutting to the basket and things like that and only uh getting the ball in the paint when it’s like duck downs and stuff. But the number one thing that has stood out to me when it comes to using Zack Edy and making him as effective as he can be is the Grizzlies have figured out how dominant he can be. They finally figured it out. this guy that we saw against Sacramento Kings that we’ve really seen in recent, you know, over this recent stretch of games that he’s played. You know, the last three games, I think he’s averaging roughly around 19 and a half points over 17 boards over three blocks. Uh, in his last three games, this looks like the player from Purdue. He He looks like the guy from Purdue. And when I say the Grizzlies have figured out how dominant he can be, I’m speaking more so on the offensive end. And I want to give Vince Williams Jr. some credit because a lot of times last season, you know, it was, oh, you know, Zach’s learning, you know, and and things like that. And we constantly ask the questions whether it was to the coaches, whether it was to the players, you know, this idea of getting Zack Edy the ball more. And I remember John was talking about it like he was talking about it uh last season at times, but the idea of getting Zack Edy the ball more so we can see this. And I said it, you know, like there were some shren things there, right? Like if you go to that Kings game, there were so many times where he just had those dudes buried under the basket and all you had to do is turn around, easier hook shot. That wasn’t the case a lot of times last season where we saw him taking sometimes it felt like hook shots from like the free throw line. But the Grizzlies have done a better job. I remember that after that Spurs game when I talked to Vince Williams Jr. He was like, “Man, I’m I missed him a few times. It’s not it’s not going to happen again.” And in that next game, Vince Williams had 15 assists against the Kings. Uh Zach Edi had a big performance and Zack Edi has continued to stack on those big performance. So, it started with Vince Williams. At least that’s what I saw. And now it’s even carried over to Jiren Jackson Jr. And this is huge. This is huge. Jiren Jackson Jr. in this game had five assists. I want to say against the Kings he had 13 points. He had six rebounds. He had five assists. I don’t think people realize how rare five assists is for a guy like Jiren Jackson Jr. who, you know, we’ve criticized for his passing, you know, over the past few seasons, right? you know, he came into this game averaging, you know, 1.7 assists per game. If you go back to to last season, he was roughly, you know, around the same number. And the assist totals have just never been that high for him. Jiren had five assists in this game against the Kings. If you go back to last season, Jiren only reached only had five or more assists in a game five times. Five times all of last season did Jiren Jackson Jr. reach that total of having at least five assists. That that is just just to put it in perspective. And oh, by the way, Jire Jackson Jr. played 74 games last season. So in a 74 game sample size, five games with five or more assists this season. Look, I think playing with Zack Edy and again going to the point we just made about Vince Williams Jr. realizing we saw a lot of those big doubles and when Jiren gets doubled or when you just simply, you know, do a big pick and roll or you just simply see Zack Ed’s got this smaller guy buried under the rim. There were a couple times Jiren had the ball, you know, near the three-point line and he just threw a high pass in the P because he gets it. Jiren’s 610 611. He knows that if you throw it high enough, these guys are too little. I’m going to get the ball. I’m going to keep it high, which Zack Edy said was an emphasis for him this off seasonason. Keeping the ball high, not bringing it down so those smaller guys can swat it and knock it out of his hands. Keep the ball high, go up, get an easy basket. We’ve seen that a lot with Zack Edy. And uh shout out to Jiren Jackson Jr. for uh you know, working on his playmaking. I think this game was a good example of that. But we can’t we can’t forget the defensive impact of Zack Edy as well when we talk about how dominant he’s been in this reaching stretch. five blocks against the Sacramento Kings. Uh again, we just mentioned over his last three games, you’re talking about over three blocks per game. Uh he’s protected the rim. And this is really going to show up when you play some of those better opponents, uh who have those top paint scoring offenses and who have those players who make a living getting to the basket. This is when it’s really going to show up. And Zack Edit is doing a really good job of staying out of foul trouble, too. had four fouls in this game, but I think he didn’t pick up his second foul until the second half. Like Zack Edy has done a really good job staying vertical. And when he’s in a situation where he only has one foul in the first half, then he can be more aggressive in the second half and go chase, you know, some of those uh those blocks that he was able to come up with or just, you know, uh changing, you know, a guy’s mind when they’re driving to the basket when they see 73, 74 waiting on you at the rim. I I think Zack Edy right now, you know, in this most recent stretch when we talked about it in a recent show and you know, there was some people like, “Hey, hold up. You know, Zach Ed, like let’s look, Zachi right now is has been the most impactful player for the Memphis Grizzlies.” The Grizzlies are five and three since Ziti got back. That’s eight games. You go to the games before that, four wins. They only had four wins before Zack Edy uh came came around and so you go they were four and nine four and nine before Zack Edit since then five and three and look that includes the Denver game and a game which Zakiti was hurt in the first five minutes and I believe the Grizzlies were winning uh when he went out of the game. So that’s neither here nor there. But look, Zack Edit is is is showing a lot of improvement in year two. He looks dominant. This is what people talk about when they say you that jump from year one to year two. He’s really showcasing that uh so far. But Zack Edit looks good. But what about the lineups without Zack Edi? The lineups where the Grizzlies say, “Hey, Zack Edi, you know, you you go over there, you you take you a little breather.” Uh those lineups haven’t had as much success lately. We’re going to talk about that more here coming up on Locked on Grizzlies. But before we get to that, today’s episode of Locked on Grizzlies is brought to you by prize picks. That’s code locked on NBA to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. the Memphis Grizzlies need to find a way to to be right uh when they take Zack Edy off the floor. Now, this is one of the this is the rare case where I’d like to say we’re getting ahead, you know, of the issue. We’re more proactive than being reactive here on Locked on Grizzlies in this situation because uh and wait, I won’t say a rare case. Let me let me backpedal. There been been some times we get ahead of some things. But anyways, I digress. Uh the point here is we’re noticing a little trend. It’s not a big sample size here. Zaki’s only played eight games, really seven if you take out the Denver Nuggets game. But in this stretch, particularly since this Grizzlies have been on the road, you’re talking about two of the three games during this three-game win streak where Zack E has been overwhelmingly much better uh than what the Grizzlies looked like when he was off the floor. I’m talking about huge gaps. and when you play the better teams in the NBA and and you get to a situation where Zack Edy isn’t as big of a positive because as good as he’s been against, you know, these teams like we we just got to shoot it a buck and keep it straight. Like these are teams that are under 500. So when you go against, you know, uh, the Lakers and you go against, you know, the Thunder with that, you know, the front court size that they possess or you go against the Timberwolves with, you know, Goar, Julius Randall, you know, Nas Reed, etc. And those types of teams, uh, the Zack Edy factor is still going to be there, but he’s it’s not going to be, you know, Zack Edy probably plus 30 in 30 minutes like it’s looking like in some of these games. And that’s when those lineups where Zach Edy’s out of the game, they’re gonna have to perform because right now you’re overcoming it. And if we go to this game in particular, start to this game. Uh well, I I’ll start here. Let Let me start here. Zack Edy was plus 25 in this game. The Grizzlies won by eight points. He’s plus 39 in a five-point Pelicans win. He was minus two against the Clippers in that game. So again, like I said, very small sample size here. He was a minus two against the Clippers. The bench, Jock Landell, those guys were terrific and they played a huge role uh in beating the Clippers. So don’t want to take that away. But again, if you’re talking about when these better teams come into the picture, you can see that there will be a formula to dominate the Grizzlies when a guy like Zack Edy is off the floor. So, this is more about the Grizzlies getting ahead of that situation because when Zach Edi’s off the floor, you don’t get the same rebounding presence. You don’t get the same physicality as a screen setter. And now we need to talk about him just as an offensive weapon. The way he’s able to score the basketball just by being so physical, being bigger, being, you know, agile on the offensive end as well with his footwork, being a rim runner, catching alleyoops and lobs and things like that. So all of that is a factor as to why the Grizzlies have been dominant with Zack Edy on the floor as well as the rim protection that we talked about earlier. Uh so here’s the thing, the Jock Land, Santi Alon lineups, they leave a lot left to be desired. There’s a lot left to be desired and you don’t really have many other options at center. Like so where do you go? Like what’s what’s the difference here? And to me, you know, you you play around with some of those lineup with Jiren Jackson Jr. at the five and you mix up some of the fours. Does Olivier Maxon’s Prosper get an opportunity? I think it’s worth a shot. I think it’s worth a shot. Uh I I think you just got to mix these things up. It could be as simple as, hey, look, just got to play Zack a little bit more or Jiren Jackson Jr. a little bit more. Uh, I think one of those guys need to be on the court as much as possible. Look, if you got a 20point lead and you want to steal a couple minutes with Jock Land and Santi Alam out there and see how it goes, uh, you can do that. But we’re having this conversation particularly after this game against the Kings because early on in the game twice. Uh in the first half, believe the Grizzlies had a 13-point lead. Second half, nine nine-point lead. And both of those leads early in the first half, early in second half, quickly were erased by Kings runs. The Kings went on runs that pretty much erased both of those leads. Uh and most of those runs happened with Zack Edi off of the floor. Now, there was the one I think late in the second quarter where Zakiti returned for the latter part of the run, but the Kings had already had the momentum and, you know, it was already built up. So, I still think this point is very relevant. Uh, the Grizzlies got to find a more consistent way of getting better production when Zack Edy is off the floor. And there is a, you know, an argument to be said, hey, look, they just don’t have the personnel. Maybe they just don’t have that other big who can be that guy. But at the end of the day, I’m just a big proponent for you gota throw a bunch of stuff at the wall and see what works and continuing to say, “Ah, okay, we’ll just go Santi and Junk like Jock like we’ve been doing and expecting it to work.” Um, it’s not going to really happen against those really good teams. And this game again, it was the Kings, so you can you can nitpick a little bit when you you’re talking about a game against the Kings. And look, Santi Alama was minus 20. Jock Landale was minus7 in 17 minutes. Uh Zach Edit plus 25 and 29 minutes. Those numbers are noticeable because of the fact that the the front court completely shifts how it’s viewed. You look at the Kings players, how they attack the basket, completely changes the equation. So that is something that, you know, I’m going to be paying attention to. Uh and let me know what you guys thinks. What what are some options, you know, that you want to see uh with the Grizzlies because they don’t really have, you know, much more depth at center? Uh is it just going bigger with the wings, you know, uh putting Olivier Max’s prosper, uh Gigi Jackson, John Contra, or whatever you think. Let me know what you guys think in terms of how can the Grizzlies fix that situation where they’re playing better basketball when Zachi isn’t on the floor. I’ll tell you who is playing better basketball and that’s some of the Grizzlies role players. We’re going to shout them out. We’re going to talk about some of the role players in the next segment here on Locked on Grizzlies. But before we get to that, today’s episode of Locked on Grizzlies is brought to you by FanDuel. We got to shout out the Memphis Grizzlies rose players. Not just because of how they played against the Sacramento Kings, but how they have played in this recent stretch of games. Like I said, the Grizz have won five of their last six. And as great as Zack Edy has been during this stretch and as impactful as he’s been, he’s not the only reason. He is not the only reason the Grizzlies are playing much better basketball. Uh it’s a couple guys I want to touch on who’ve pretty much turned their seasons around, you know, recently. And turn around may be a strong word because we’re only 21 games of the season, but they played better basketball. Uh number one is Jason Jaylen Wells. Jaylen Wells is a starter, right? and had a I mean he just had a rough start to the to the season shooting the basketball. First 15 games for Jaylen Wells, check out these numbers. 28.2% on three-pointers, 37% overall. This is the first 15 games of the season and that includes the first two games where I think Jaylen made he was four of eight from three-point range in the first game and then three of seven. So in the second game, so you take out those two uh games, you’re talking about a guy who’s roughly around 20% from three-point range of shooting the basketball. But anyways, first 15 games, Jaylen Wells 28.2% on threes, 37% overall. If you go to the last six games, Jaylen Wells is shooting 54.5% from the field, 50% on three-pointers, and he’s making them, too. Like this, he ain’t getting cheated. He’s coming off this game against the Kings. Jaylen Wells, uh, three of three on three-pointers, 15 points, uh, four or five from the field. I think most of that damage was done in the first half. He had 13 points in the first half. Knocked down all three of his three-pointers. Jaylen Wells again is starting to look like that shooter that has to be accounted for, that has to be feared where early in the season, I mean, you can tell the truth. You didn’t have a lot of confidence when some of those Jaylen Wells three-pointers shots were going up. And it it was even puzzling to him. I remember him saying, “This is the worst slump that I’ve ever been through.” So with that being the case and with us knowing that the slump is over probably wise not to expect Jayen Wells to have a slump like that. But Jayen Wells has really turned it up a notch that’s a re that’s really part of the reason again last six games the Bridges are five and one in their last six games. And in that same stretch uh Jaylen Wells has shot the basketball so much better. Another guy is Contavius Cwell Pope. We got to give the vets some credit because this was a guy who was removed from the starting lineup after he got off to a slow start this season. Was dealing with, you know, uh his his right elbow was bothering him. He was telling me how sometimes it was bothering his shooting, bothering the way he can play defense in terms of, you know, he has real good hands defensively. He likes to strip at the ball, but sometimes that would hurt his elbow and it always, you know, something he had to be mindful of. Now with Kavius Cwell Pope, it’s been more so the last five games uh rather than the last six games like Jaylen Wells. But if you you break it down like this, the first 16 games of the season, Kavius Cwell Pope was 25.9% on three-pointers. Basically 26% on three-pointers in the first 16 games of the season. Over the last five games, Kavius Cowwell Pope is shooting 52.3% on three-pointers. 52.3%. And in this game in particular, made another couple three-pointers. 13 points off the bench, two of three from the three-point line, four of six uh overall from the field. So, we’re starting to see Conavius Cwell Pope shoot the basketball better, not just from the three-point line, but he’s doing it in the mid-range, too. And this is this is what you expect to see early on. Like again, the Grizzlies had those early season struggles. Remember when John Mor was saying, we don’t have any spacing. You remember that whole conversation about why, you know, Job was struggling, things like that. And it’s like, man, soon as Jaw went out, like, these guys are shooting the basketball better. So, if they continue to shoot the basketball like this, and then you get Jarant back with, man, like that’s going to be a a sight to behold. So, overall, again, look, Jaylen Wells, Kavius Cwell, Pope have really turned it up a notch. You got to give Santi Alama some credit, too. Again, look, Santi only had seven points in this game, but that ended a streak of 14 consecutive games where he scored in double figures. Santi has been very impactful, you know, with his scoring pop that he’s given the Grizzlies, you know, off the bench. And then we got to talk about Cam Spencer. Shout out to Cam Spencer because this was a guy that we didn’t really talk a lot about in the off season because it was just like, okay, what’s going to be a role here? Like clearly the Grizzlies need him to be a really good three-point shooter, but how will it happen if you got Scotty Pippen Jr., Ty Jerome, John Morant, Jaylen Wells, Contavius Cwell Pope, Vince Williams Jr., Cedric Coward, you got all these perimeter players. Where in the well, where is Cam Spencer going to play? And it’s like, we got our answers now. we definitely have our answers now because this ain’t going to be an easy guy to take off the floor no matter who is available with the Grizzlies the way he’s been shooting the basketball the way he’s just overall playing like it’s it’s more than shooting with him like the shooting is the elite skill but you know it’s it’s the poise it’s the playmaking it’s the ability to to play the point guard position like when Vince Williams had three fouls in the first half and this was not a great game overall for from Vince Williams Jr. But the Grizzlies had Cam Spencer, you know, another guy that they could give, you know, an opportunity. So Cam Spencer has made three or more three-pointers in four of his last five games. Four of his last five games. And you’re you’re starting to notice that these guys over these last five, six games have really turned it up a notch, these role players. And this is a big reason. Again, Zach, he deserves all the credit that he’s getting. That’s why we just talked about him uh so much earlier in the show. But there are other guys who are playing much much better. And that could be directly contributed to the fact that Zack Edy is back. I know Santi talked about it. I know Vince Williams Jr. talked about getting Santi these easy looks because of the fact that teams have to account for Zack Edy around the rim. So there’s a direct correlation somewhere there too. But at the end of the day, these guys are playing much better. Three or more three made three-pointers in three in four of the last five games uh for Cam Spencer. Before that, he had four other games this season uh where he made at least uh three three-pointers. Five straight games of multiple made three-pointers for the first time this season for Cam Spencer. So, this is this is one of those things where I go back to the whole conversation about can Cam Spencer be the Luke Canard replacement? And the big problem a lot of people had with Luke Canard was never his accuracy as a three-point shooter. I I think a lot of times when you saw it going up, you expected it to go in, but it was more so the volume, like why isn’t he shooting the basketball much for a guy who is such a deadly sniper as a three-point shooter? And the questions, those questions aren’t being asked with Cam Spencer. Cam Spencer’s coming off screens picking and popping. He’s pulling up in transition. uh he’s showing the signs of a guy who could be a really strong three-point shooter, not just from an accuracy standpoint, but he also will be able to get him up with the volume as well. So, shout out to those guys, man. And there are other guys, you know, like I said, Jock Landale against the Clippers was really good. He’s had some moments. Uh there are other, you know, Cedric Coward who’s going through probably his roughest stretch so far, his roughest stretch yet, you know, as a member of the Grizzlies in NBA. But um you know he’ll he’ll break through like it Cedric Cow is really good. Zero worries there. But that’s just kind of the situation right now. Shout out to these role players who are stepping up and Zack Ed has kind of elevated his game in his stretch to help the Grizzlies win five of their last six games. Worst draft pick ever.
Zach…Edey!!!
Zach Eddie Edey is The Truth….
How likely is it that they resign Bassey?
Seems stylistically like the most obvious re-signing.
Mane im so excited! We're going to look scary when Ja Morant comes back. Lets go!
This was an amazing Shach Edyao game but a mid Grizzlies game.
Turnovers ruined the flow of the System and without that flow our role players can't perform their magic. Because it does, and has, worked with Jock and Santi, but we can't have them try to be like Zach and Jaren. It's the System that makes our bench work and as people integrate it more and more and the ball moves freely, our bench will be fine even against the best teams. Speed kills, remember?
Zach's incredible positive impact also brings with it some challenges for the overall balance of the System and it will take some time to find out what works best in this new reality.
We can still have the best bench scoring and now combine it with excellent starters, which is the recipe for beating good teams and really starting to dominate. And remember, we still don't even have any point guards. It's gonna look gooood in the new year!
Zach Edey is a much more talented version of Stephen Adams.
Ja will destroy this team.
Why don’t we trade for Andre Drummond for a back up. A monster rebounder that probably wouldn’t cost much. I still think landale should back up Jaren he’s a great shooter
I agree with you that on those nights when Landale is missing multiple easy layups, we should consider having either Edey or Jackson on the floor at all time.
What has gotten into Jaylen Wells? All of a sudden (or for at least the last 3 games) he has been 1 of the better shooters in the league.
Even when we get healthy…we have got to found a way to get Cam Spencer on the floor.
I saw Zach Edey struggle against the likes of Walker Kessler and etc last year so i want to see him do this against teams with an actual center. That being said he's never done this against any team so it is something to be hopeful about
Honestly we have to see it with good teams. We probably would have won 3 of those games regardless when we played them. We need to beat average to good team to really feel good. And I think those off the court numbers ain’t accurate because I seen most of the comeback lead cut when both Jaren and Edey off the court which is crazy
Zach Edey abused the kings today but I fear we are becoming overly reliant on him. I can see the value in jock as a backup with his okay offensive rebounding and 3 pt shooting but the difference when Zach is on vs off the court is too big. Also something I noticed yesterday, Jaren started 1/7 yesterday and ended 6/13. He started 1/7 because he was doing these weak layups that were getting blocked/missing and idk what triggered him in that 2nd half maybe someone said something to him about him being weak but it’s like he finally realized he’s 6’11 with a crazy wingspan. Bro started dunking off the post, and dunking hard too. That kind of aggressiveness and anger around the rim is what Jaren needs every game because as much as he has more finesse and skill than 95% of the bigs in the league, sometimes you really do just need to let everyone know that you’re bigger and stronger than everyone else. I hope he continues like that
8:49 this is something I've noticed. Only saw it happen 1x yesterday😊
I’m anti-Landale. I think he’s a defensive sieve. But even for you guys that think he’s ok for 18 minutes a game, we HAVE to stop giving Landale such a high usage rate when he is in the middle. I know it looks like he is open, but he can’t catch contested passes, when he goes up with it it gets blocked, and he can’t grab his own offensive rebounds. In the Landale minutes we need to be running plays for other guys
Zach Edey dominated & certainly doesn't look like the draft bust everyone said he'd be. Of course, context matters. These performances are against some of the worst performing teams in the NBA & the Grizzlies, recently, have had a small margin of victory against these 'bad' teams. And, his teammates are super intentional & go out of their way to feed him the ball where, ofc, he can easily get it in the hoop. But, he is a cheat code & physical force that will overpower many. And, he seems to embrace using his size to dominate & be that force in the paint. Also, it's more than that. He is solid, immovable, & not easily flustered or exasperated. Well, many of the guys out there are like this (Jaylen, Ced, Cam, etc.) This is, tbh, a refreshing departure from the emotionality of Ja & Jaren who are open books when they are frustrated & even prone to giving up on plays. And, re Jaren, one can see even this new identity is rubbing off on Jaren who is staying more focused & less prone to frustration fouls (had 1-2 at the end of last night) & just keeping his head in the game more. This new identity/mentality/vibe is good for the team & just may translate to more wins. I fully support Zach, Jaylen, Ced, etc. being the emotional center of the team that stabilizes Ja & Jaren. Also, Tuomas Iisalo needs some real credit for fostering & encouraging a more solid, no nonsense, culture. He's even started to adjust the timing of his rotations letting Jaren, etc. play more than 25 minutes. Just maybe the guy knows what he's doing. Just maybe.
Zach Edey you earn my respect I salute you 🫡 that was pure Grit and Grind 🔥
FINALLY HE HAS TOUCH
Never seen a fan base turn on their star player so quick
What's up with Cedric Coward.. his 3 point shot has disappeared as Wells got his rhythm back.. It seems like Grizzlies can't have too much of a good thing.
If Ja's assist totals go up when he comes back, I'm fine with his point total average being lower than past years. Ride these hots hands. Start Vince and Ja together. Ja can play off the ball more. Cam Spencer is turning out to be a better asset than Kennard was with his handles and defense. Pound the paint. Edey is nearly a mismatch to most in the paint.
we gotta give props to Iisalo his coaching and game plan with Edey has been a major difference maker for Edey and Jaren both
Joe ducking after Edey proving him wrong again
Folks called that mane Zachille O'Neal
16:56 Politely disagree Damichael. We have one of the best bench scoring squads in the league. Edey 's dominance does not discount the performances of Santi and Jock. Will we see them go off for 30 and 15? Probably not. But they still hold their own incredibly well as the second group. I never want to see Jaren at the 5 again. His lack of rebounding and assists speak volumes. Still love the dude but a center he is not.
I've said this before here, but historically it has been a lot less fun to watch the Grizzlies when Morant is not playing. Edey is a good reason to tune in now though.
I said it before, edey looked like shaq last night, those are shaq's numbers. A literal beast on the boards, has his tricks for scoring and blocking shots as well. Come on, we win the chip this year with baby shaq edey.
And wait to see the edey- Jerome and edey-ja connection, thats gonna be smth else too
Zach Edey is the big man we’ve always wanted in a C. Get your big butt in the paint!
Jaren was dunking on them too, like, Jaren looking at Edey dunking, making him wanting to dunk more, etc. The dunks have more dunk in them too, just more feel good in them dunks.
Yea JJJ (guard experience growing up, so might be better off running the pick and roll with edey as the roller, etc)
Who knew the big man would make THIS much of an impact? I knew he'd help, but not this much! Love to see it!!!
6:50 yup, jaren finally learned to pass to Edey!!
Ja can improve this team if he plays in the system.
Itll become better once Brandon is back on the floor WHENEVER that is 🤷🏾♂
I really think we need to get landale gone yes he has had a good game or 2 but dudes negative almost every game and just ain't it
In just 29 min of action too.
